    Yeah, man! Love the upstate NJ rock vibe. Great video. Sorry I missed this a year ago. I have a Tim V3 and this is helping me position it on my board and on my never-ending tone journey. Love your use of atmospherics with your music. Very nice!

    Really great and informative demo, as always. 👍
    Also, thanks for finally helping me understand the difference between symmetrical and asymmetrical clipping! 😅

    This made me sub. I love the Tim v3 and this made me understand the pedal more! It can get a little overwhelming but this made everything simple, especially with the video comparisons on dipswitches.

    A much better demo of the new Tim pedal that I’ve seen. Some players don’t seem to know how to use it.,

      Oh thank you so very much. I could tell a lot of work went into the pedal, so I spent a lot of time going through it before putting the video together.

    Another fabulous episode. Great pedal… Paul’s a gifted fellow, that’s for sure. I built a Timmy clone from PedalPCB and I adore the range it gives me. I’d love to hear you work through that Obscura, I’m looking for a good lofi-sounding reverb and that’s on my short list of candidates. Thanks for becoming another trusted voice in the pedal world. Your budget will come soon, I’ve no doubt.

    Glad you’re back and starting to feel better!
    This is a pedal I hear talked about all the time, but that has never really drawn my interest. It just seems like another overdrive, so I was very much looking forward to watching this video.
    Awesomely clear overview and some fun jams, a little Tom Petty feel in that last one! I really appreciate the mxr demo in the mix and the explanation of what’s going on there between companies.
    The roll-offs for bass before the gain and the treble after the gain is something I’ve recently become a fan of from an OKKO Holy Grit pedal I recently got. That’s a fun box of overdrive fuzz preamp tones you might enjoy too. 🙂
    As for the next pedal choice, I know I’m late (I save your videos to enjoy Sunday nights as a last fun thing before I have to return to work), but my vote for the pedals you showed as possible next petals would be the Q Tron. And I’d love it if you have any additional EHX Q Tron variants to compare it to.
    Thanks for a great video! 🤘😃🎸

      @StompboxBreakdown  2 года назад +1

      Thanks man!! I’ll check into the Holy Grit. I don’t have any other Q-Trons, so that one might be one that has to go without a direct comparison, though it is similar to the BubbleTron. Maybe I could do the whole thing inside a 70’s computer and call it the Tron episode

    I love watching your channel and want to tell you that you do a very good job of being educational and entertaining.
    Being a Boss fan, anything Boss would be my choice (PW-10) VWah would be fun.
    But from your choices, the Mini QTron would be my pick.

    The Tim is always a pedal that I forget about, but love every time I hear it.
    For the next pedal, I have to go with the ever-so-tiny Mini QTron. I'm a sucker for the old school EHX pedal enclosures.

    I'd review the Monterey next. It looks interesting, and I'm a big fan of Keeley. If you want something more obscure, I'd suggest the Missing Link Audio (MLA) Peacock. Supposed to be Duane Allman tone captured in a box. I have one and love it, but I'd like to hear advice on how best to dial it in, etc.

  • @ryanrowe9559
    @ryanrowe9559 2 года назад

    Trying to stick to the options you showed, i'd vote on that H2O! A chorus echo sounds really neat! With an effect like that, it sounds like i'd personally have a hard time keeping my signal... dry... I'll see myself out (at least until the next vid!)

  • @glendoggett9670
    @glendoggett9670 2 года назад

    I think the Hi-Cut switch positions are presets of a narrow band notch filter, kind of like sliding down that band a notch by -3dB on a EQ pedal at either the 1.5kHz or 3kHz band, (though most typical EQ pedals would have 1.6kHz and 3.2kHz bands).

    • @StompboxBreakdown
      @StompboxBreakdown  2 года назад +1

      I think you're probably correct! I just ran some white noise through it and didn't see or hear much of a difference either way, but it being a narrow-band notch filter would make sense given the application notes to target something specific Paul was hearing. Thanks for that.

    • @glendoggett9670
      @glendoggett9670 2 года назад

      @@StompboxBreakdown it might be more audible if you have a higher gain sound with the higher-order harmonics of a clipped signal, or are staged with something like a TS, and those slight EQ notches can help to level out any harshness of a mid hump, if desired. But, the left/right switch positions seem backwards to me, the higher freq 3kHz is the left position, the lower freq 1.5kHz is the right position. That is kind of backwards from where those bands appear on a 7-band EQ pedal with bands at 400, 800, 1.6, 3.2, 6.4, you know? I would expect the lower mid freq cut 1.5kHz to be on the left and the higher mid setting 3kHz to be on the right. At least he has the Bass and Treble pots running the correct way now!

    • @cluap
      @cluap 2 года назад +1

      No - It's a shelf filter with different -3dB points.

    • @cluap
      @cluap 2 года назад +1

      @@glendoggett9670 It's not based on a graphic. The switch kicks in caps in parallel on the output amp so we're stuck with the brightest setting being in the middle, but as it's a "hi cut" switch I liked the darkest setting being to the left.

    • @glendoggett9670
      @glendoggett9670 2 года назад

      @@cluap I see, that makes sense. I was confused about the description in the manual sheet, the Hi-Cut shelf starts at that freq, or hits the -3dB on the downslope at that freq, it is not just a cut of a narrow band of freqs. Thanks for the explanation.

    Fantastic video! I enjoyed it!
    I have the Timmy V3 15th anniversary and it’s a great pedal with the high gain option being a step up from the Timmy V2. The 3 clipping options inside the pedal is the only downside in my opinion. But I also have the MXR mini Timmy and the tone reminds me more of the V2 instead the V3. It’s a good overdrive but I prefer the Timmy v3. But both are solid.
    How do You feel with this new Tim v3? It seems like a very versatile overdrive tool plus the boost option and the high cut switch which I really appreciate it. How do you compare it with the Timmy V3 in terms of tones that you can get closer between them? Thanks for the video!🙏🏻

    Obscura please! That is one fine delay pedal. Also, I think you could do fine work extolling the virtues of the Boss OD-3 or SD-1. They are often overlooked despite their ubiquity and can always use more championing, in my opinion.

    IMHO when in doubt follow your ....bliss ( EHcmmm!!) ...I mean Excitement!!. Which pedal are you most excited to talk about? BUT ... I suspect that either a) All have something interesting about them but not too much b) Neither really act as an educational occasion that goes beyond the pedal themselves - For me that is when you shine the most and can hold my interest even when I don't care about the specific pedal that much. If this is the case DO THEM ALL IN ONE SHOW. Find a different format to present multiple pedals that have something cool about them, but maybe can't hold a show by themselves and introduce it as a new series you'll do whenever you feel like it.
