Looking back at this video, I have no idea why it's so quiet. I must have edited it with my volume super high or something. I was still learning editing at the time so it's probably just an error of inexperience. Sorry about that-Alex
@@the_bane_of_all_anti_furry Glad to hear that. Sometimes the audio sounded normal for me so I couldn't really tell what happened either. Glad it sounded good to you-Alex
The one thing I’d say about Meta Ridley is when he flies away. He takes forever to come back as he flies over you blasting his shots. Other than that, I enjoyed the second phase
Thardus is one boss to this day i find really interesting not only for what you have to do to destroy it but also because knowing it was originally going to be on the magmoor caverns makes me wonder what could have been different if he stayed there
I think if they kept Kraid as a boss in the game he would've been great for the magmoor caverns since he's typically portrayed with lava and the space pirates to have a presence in the caverns
Early concept art suggests the boss of Phendrana would have been a six armed ape with mammoth tusks if Thardus had stayed in Magmoor. They scrapped it because Nintendo allegedly thought it would fit better in an RPG.
Omega pirate is best IMO. Most bosses in Metroid Prime overstay their welcome and are too dragged out without any interesting progressions. Omega Pirate and maybe Flaahgra are the only ones that don't.
Ever since I started speedrunning Prime, I haven't had to fight the hive mecha! You can entirely avoid him by double jumping up to a spot where some missiles are on that ramp in the main part of the beginning of Chozo Ruins
Never tried speedrunning but I ought to give it a try. I know of two ways to skip the Hive Mecha off the top of my head, one being the early space jump and one being a ghettojump you can make from inside the poison water. The early space jump is probably easier though since if you mess up the ghettojump you'll probably die.
@@vasiaswolfram3113 I'm finishing up a playthrough of Metroid Prime 3 at the moment, after I finish that I might take a stab at learning speedrun tactics for Prime 1 now that you mention it
My list: 13. Elite Pirate 12. Phazon Elite 11. Incinerator Drone 10. Plated Beetle 9. Parasite Queen 8. Hive Mecha 7. Sheegoth 6. Cloaked Drone 5. Thardus 4. Flaahgra 3. Meta Ridley 2. Omega Pirate 1. Metroid Prime To me, not even the early bosses are lamer than that stupid oaf of an Elite Pirate and the Phazon Elite that they try to pass off as being different than the Elite Pirate, but is still a sitting duck to anyone who's heard of a Super Missile. Especially after you scan tons of pirate logbook entries talking about how badass the Elite Pirate is. A word about the Cloaked Drone: totally agree with everything you said about it, but some of what you said I think actually makes it good. It's good gameplay to have a "hump" right around the 50% completion mark that new players struggle to get past. And it's designed that way- the inability to scan it is a challenge to the player to figure it out. How did you defeat earlier drones? What visor and what weapon? And I think the fact that you can get the Wavebuster before this fight is a hint that it'll be of good use soon. A word about Flaahgra: People crap on Flaahgra a lot, but for me it was where the game first became challenging. Prior to that point it was more of an exploratory/adventure quest, a lineup of intentionally easy bosses to get the most essential items back after the explosion. After Flaahgra it was down to business. And I also really like the foreshadowing of having a beast that's the source of a great poison before the ultimate culmination with Metroid Prime.
If I'm honest I hated the drones as enemies anyways even back in the research core power outage section. I do see what you mean by the Elite pirates being lame and easy, but they aren't really actively frustrating or boring to me like some of the ones below them are. I just sort of treat them like normal enemies.
I would have included the Chozo Ghosts as they are treated like a miniboss, like the Plated Beetle; but I would put it low on the list as they are belligerent and numerous (as Morbo put it). Yeah, they were an interesting fight and an interesting rematch after you got the X-Ray Visor, but guh, it’s a slough to be moving to the next elevator and someone used the Necronomicon. Rest in peace they ain’t.
The cloaked drone was the easiest boss by far for me. One word: Wavebuster. It homes in on the drone automatically and rapidly drains its health. I defeated it in like 5 seconds. But yeah I absolutely hate its placement in the Phazon Mines. Also, handy tip for Sheegoth: Go under it in ball form and bomb its underbelly with all three bombs at a time, roll away, and repeat. You take damage, but it's so much quicker to beat it than the usual dodge-and-missile sequence.
My favorite fight is the first phase of Metroid Prime. I personally kinda hate Meta Ridley because it's a long fight and I think twice his hit detection straight up stopped working and I couldn't win
Let's See. For my list: 13. Incinerator Drone: No reason for it to exist. Just there to hold an important item. 12. Cloaked Drone: Wavebuster. Enough said. 11. Plated Beetle: Missiles. Enough said. 10. Sheegoth: Boring for a mini boss despite it's imposing stature. 9. Hive Mecha: Despite being a weak mini boss, the music is great and the challenge of keeping track of ram wasps at your weakened state is intense. 8. Flaagrah: I played the Gamecube version where the song was glitched so yeah, an annoying puzzle with an annoying soundtrack glitch. 7. Parasite Queen: Used to scare me as a kid until I manned up and learned tutorial bosses are pathetic. 6. Elite Pirate: All bark, but no bite. Despite how imposing they look, Super Missiles trivialize the fight. 5. Phazon Elite: Same deal as before but a lot more jumping. Fitting though that you get a Chozo Artifact from it. 4. Thardus: Despite the lengthy battle, Thardus is actually pretty fun. The fact the fight tries to be consistent while progressively getting harder and it doesn't even require much puzzle solving. 3. Metroid Prime: The first fight was fun and required a lot of adaptive work as you cycle your beam weapons and their respective combos, but the second fight is beyond terrible. Just sitting or jumping while waiting for a pool of phazon to spawn. 2. Omega Pirate: Genuinely challenging fight that rewards player creativity. Also Beam Troopers die to Power Bomb so yeah, Power Bomb is OP in this fight in more ways than just one. 1. Meta Ridley: You were spot on in regards to his battle. Remains fairly challenging, and forces players to keep moving and use the good old Plasma Beam for this iconic fight. Only downside is the second half being kind of annoying to me, but otherwise a good fight.
Cloaked drone interestingly was modeled with a shield that can be seen in the OG game, but this shield doesn't even do anything. you can see the shield with the X-ray visor (you'll need to go OOB or to use an Action Replay/Cheat Engine to have that at this point of the game tho)
funny thing about the mirrors for flaahgra, you don't have to hit them from the back, to knock them up, any direction will work, any distance. full charge from across the room will work, and its fast enough to keep the boss react
@@bigfatpug_s1465 I think we'll do it someday, it's not planned at the moment but I'm a fan of both games. I only own God of War 3 and 4, but I intend to play the others eventually too. Stay tuned-Alex
i can see why you put samus nemesis on 1st place as boss i wish for MP trilogy port for switch they make an sorta of impossible difficulty that like in fusion and zero mission you only gain half energy tanks and half missile expansion and all enemy hurt an lot more specialt bosses
Flaaghara..... so.... i edited the rooms water level through a world editor ...... fighting it while constantly taken damage turns it into a time trial and hinders movement lol dont ask me why but i managed to kill it.
There may be alternatives now but there is also a randomizer with many options including elevator randomization. I hacked my wii to play iso files so i play these clasic gc style and i gotta say it is nice. But raising water levels in some rooms can break progression so i used the first half pipe area in the tallon overworld as a test room and then set my eyes on flaaghara. Thardus can be reached by bomb jumping the lava in the room with the spider track and having grabbed the wave ice beam early , you can get many items way early and to areas early with simple methods depending on your mp version i found it fun to skip the visors all together but be warned that omega is the worst if you do..... and that dam security drone fight 🤦♂️

For Sheegoth, if you hit them with beam attacks enough times it activates some sort of lightning attack that surrounds them with lightning.
