Great video. The price is also a dead giveaway. I just ordered the Tony ver. Megurine Luka figure by Max Factory which is about $110 whereas the Chinese bootlegs on eBay go for like 35 or 40 USD.
I got my first nendoroid for $49 (Sasuke #707) and it seems to fit the criteria for being a genuine. It wasn’t on eBay but on a site that I find very reliable.
am i bad for purposely wanting to buy a bootleg? I really want a darth vader nendoroid but he's sooo expensive and im just a poor child. maybe i will resist but all of these cool figures are so expensive :c
piplup229 No wanting a bootleg nendoroid doesn't make you a bad person. Some people can't afford the real nendoroids and that is ok. As long as it makes you happy, and you know your getting what you pay for. Witch is a lesser quality figure at a lower price. But when people cheat you out of your money and tell you your getting the Real deal and they give you a fake at a Real deal price is what is wrong,😡 and those people you should not support.
piplup229 no bootlegs can be good. They are cheap and sometimes quality. I have a bootleg rem she is good quality. So I recommend you get a bootleg if you can’t afford it.
Thankyou so much !! I was legit about to buy an Umaru-chan Nendoroid online, and from the picture I look closer at the box it's a fake! Thankyou a lot you've provided such an informative and helpful video ♥
Wow, great video!! I've mostly only seen other youtubers go over nendos that are much more obviously bootleg. It's great to see someone going over it for a much more accurate-seeming bootleg for newer figure collectors!
Aqua the Nendo Collector awww Thank you 😊, I felt like I needed to spread the word and all the videos I have seen of bootlegs don't really go into depth , so I felt like I needed to share what I know ☺️
I’ve been looking for a Japanese sakura miku nendo for a while now and never wanted to get it on eBay but I finally did it. The seller was giving it for $118 and I was skeptical at first so I messaged him and asked for more pics and he sent me more and said it is authentic but I also looked up to see if the box was also a bootleg or not and looked very VERY closely at the figure itself, the extra pigtails and compared the paint job on the legit box one and the one he posted and saw that it was 100% legit so I got it. Took me 2 hours and asked 4 of my homies to help inspect it and look at his other reviews and other products this guy does. The only sketchy thing I see that it’s listed as “used” but hopefully it’s just that he bought it and didn’t do much. It comes in October and I can’t wait! 😊
You saved me! I was just on TikTok and heard about buying possible bootlegs from Amazon! The one I have is Emil from Nier Replicant and I was horrified that he may have been a fake! Thank You so much!^^
In my head. I get some people cant afford real Nendoroids but it seems unfair that they are buying a fake meaning they aren't supporting the original sculptor and giving more money to the person faking it. It's just unfair to the original sculptor 😓
im waiting for my very first nendoroid to ship to my house right now. i bought a deku one, and he's a super popular character, so there are a lot of bootlegs around. i got it on ebay for $55 from a seller with 100% positive reviews who has sold nendoroids in the past. the photos weren't found anywhere else and were of a lot of box angles, so i'm hoping it's the real deal! i'll definitely be comparing it to this video's guidelines when it arrives!
Old Nendoroid supports don't have metalic screws, some official Nendoroids are not produced by "Good Smile", Some old real Nendoroid can be sticky and smell... The best way to tell an authentic from a false is to go on the official website, there's pictures of details to authenticate them.
I really love nendoroids. I have 7 of them, but I really wanna get a Sebastian or Ciel one from Black Butler. I kinda prefer the bootleg because they’re only around 20$ and also I don’t think they make Black Butler nendoroids anymore.
I would actually buy the bootleg one. saves like 40 or more dollars and looks like 90% right also I dont see any scratches. and the paint job is good, the "derpy" eyes actually fit Umaru and a 10cm figure shouldn't be 60-180 USD. my opinion is instead of buying limited Nendroids like Saber or Subaru buy bootleg ones.
In addition, check for the Kadokawa sticker on the front. Both the Holo and Nagato nendoroids that I bought have them on the front. Not sure about older ones though.
I see a lot of people who prefer bootlegs ones because of the price but you can find real pre owned ones on AmiAmi on PERFECT CONDITION for less than 30 bucks
As someone who sculpts and paints, I’m thinking of buying bootleg nendoroids to repaint and sculpt on (some base sculpts I want are really rare and I’d feel bad buying the authentic and then just totally changing it). Is this still a bad thing?
i love all of my official nendoroids coz they look neat and are sturdier. But man, people need to stop being toxic and shaming others for making a different decision.
This was really helpful and I checked if the nenoroid I was going to buy if it was a bootleg or not and I’m so happy that the store I went to sell a lot of authentic nenoroids
Really informative video!! ^^ I just have to say one thing though. It's about the Hatsune Miku figure. The original one does also come with a circuar base. I know this because I have an authentic #33 Hatsune Miku nendoroid with the circular base. I think the first releases came with the circular base but after high demand GSC realeased her again, just with a different stand. Anyways, awesome video!! 💕💕 keep up the good work! 😝

Hey, I need your advice. I recently got a kagamine Len nendoroid cheerful ver for my birthday. The box said nendoroid and all that but the figure itself had problems. The paint job is not very detailed and crosses over where it’s supposed to be in certain areas. Also, one of the faces tiny little screw part broke when I gently took it out. I just bought a kageyama nendoroid, and I am pretty sure it’s a bootleg..I got it from a small shop in Chinatown. Everything about it is okay but his neck is pretty weird which does bother me a bit. The crown does not have a small piece for me to put it on his head which also bothers me. Is there any good places to buy cheap, yet real nendoroids?
It's also about who you want to support, goodsmile does work with the creators of the anime/game - and you're also supporting people who worked on the design :0 obviously the paint job is much better on the original one if you take a closer look o.o
Either one, but them from a store or official good smile website brand new, or two (if you are going the pre-owned route) buy pre owned figures from ami ami If you are looking at eBay preowned, make sure the pictures are not stock photos and are real pictures taken from a camera
I am a bit neew to nendoroid (big nood at it to be precise), but I am trying to by my first original nendoroid figure (do have one bootleg and it is cool but now I whant to suport the compani ). My question is Crunchyroll ok site to by nendoroids from, because I have seen a figure that I like and the price is ok (46$+shipping), I know that they are ok for anime streaming but are the ok also for figures. I am really sorry for the long question, btw nice video now I know a little bit more about spoting bootleg IRL, but here where I live we don`t have anime stuff at all XP
noob guy yes yes crunchyroll is a great web site to buy Nendoroids that are the real deal 😃 and the price of every Nendoroid is different and sometimes it can get expensive 😅
tnx so much, I was a bit worid because I was looking on ebay and saw that the price was around 90$ odf a nendoroid that I whanted to by and I was ok whit that, but then saw that on crunchyroll is whit shipping around 60$ so I was a bit consfued XP .
My hanzo nendo I got from EB Games (Gamestop) doesn't have screws in the stand thing. I think that changed for some of the newer ones? I doubt the 70$ nendo from a store that officially licenses them will sell me a fake
@@ACIDBATH09 You can search up the figure on my figure collection and look at what the bootlegs look like, or if you cant find the bootleg pictures you can compare it with the real ones
I got this miku yukata nendo (no. 333) and her base trademark only states the nendo’s designer, the companies and the made in china and I can’t tell if it’s legit because it didn’t display the year.
OOO that one is a tuff one. well miku is one of the more popular bootlegs, the only thing i can tell you is to do your research and find a video with someone reviewing her and see if yours matches up with theirs, i don't have this miku so its hard for me to say, but good luck :)
I got bootleg because the one I had ,the mouth was no where the dent for the mouth when it came with like 10 neck pieces and came in horrible condition no box at all LITERALLY NO BOX!!! it came in bubble wrap?!?!
One helpful hint I like to mention specifically with nendoroids is most if not all authentic figures I have some across all have plastic wrapping around the figures where most fakes don't. The reason for the plastic is to prevent paint transfer. It's harder to tell with buying online, but if you see a figure locally or at a con, usually this is a good sign. But again, research is your friend. Actually found it funny. I recently saw a bootleg naruto nendoroid and it had the nine tail fox face on where the legit will ALWAYS (least what I've seen) will have the smiling face.
@@1ROCKET- Reason being because Funkos already pretty cheap on release, so it's not really anything to copy. Bootlegs get more dangerous when the thing that's getting bootlegged is more valuable.
You should’ve mentioned some other key elements. Like how sometimes a knockoff will also not list the site link on the sides of the box. Sometimes even the way it’s taped is a dead giveaway. Although identifying fakes is very variable and can vary based on generation. Use mfc people!
BTS ARMY Froppy! If your buying it from a legitimate website you should be ok, but if it’s from a used goods website like eBay where you buying it from a person I always ask for a picture of the item they are selling so you know what your getting. But it’s all up to you 🙂 use your gut 👍
I buy all my nendoroids from amiami or the GoodSmileCompany Website itself, and i just want to say that some figures fo have a really thing piece of tape holding in some of the pieces so they don't fall :)
i foun expensive nendoroid in shop i'm just confuses why they're nenderiod don't have logo at the top of it but in others nendoroid they have logo i don't really get it but they are really legit shop and figurines
I got a yuri on ice nendroid and ots prop fake but its still not here so we will wait and see, to me if it was fake i prop wouldn't care because i got a whole different body for it and other clothes, so i prop wouldn't care about anything else other than the head but hope it is actually good quality!
though most bootlegs now has the same box, with all the logo and everything. maybe except for the licensing sticker. another way to spot a bootleg, honestly all 5 date a live nendoroids I have are bootlegs but we call them class A. though im starting to get legit ones now.;D

@@fshams7258 nope, i just started my collection and my figures aren't here yet even, but im sure the real nendoroid bodies and heads fit together ᵔᴥᵔ
@@samsy426 ahh I see, when you get them will you please let me know? :3
wait i think i bought a bootleg nendoroid but what's wrong with bootlegs?? sorry I've never purchased anything like these before
I just bought a kageyama nendoroid, and I am pretty sure it’s a bootleg..I got it from a small shop in Chinatown. Everything about it is okay but his neck is pretty weird which does bother me a bit. The crown does not have a small piece for me to put it on his head which also bothers me. Is there any good places to buy cheap, yet real nendoroids?
i find i can get good deals on per-owned wed sites, like Ami Ami has a preowned area and they only sell the real deal so i don't have to worry :)
the moment you like the bootleg more than the original.....
in my country the fake one really cheap i mean really cheap
@@Thanthanthan-q7i as long as they resemble what i want im very ok with them
@@TheOfficialAlucard same with me!!
It's also about who you want to support, goodsmile does work with the creators of the anime/game - and you're also supporting people who worked on the design :0 obviously the paint job is much better on the original one if you take a closer look o.o
How do we make sure it’s not a bootleg before we buy it?
Either one, but them from a store or official good smile website brand new, or two (if you are going the pre-owned route) buy pre owned figures from ami ami
If you are looking at eBay preowned, make sure the pictures are not stock photos and are real pictures taken from a camera
Are GSC products outsourced in China?
Is it bad to get a boot leg are they lose or no and is there away to tighten boot legs
Blue sparkle time Fedora lol 😂 um.... you might have to figure out that one for yourself
Nendo Dream in that case I will just stick to trains
my d.va nendoroid just got here, it's my first one so I was watching this to make sure, thank you!
- the d.va nendoroid looks amAZING!
I got an N Nendoroid and I actually didn't know it was real or not. I hope it's legit! At least returns are accepted.
N, from pokemon?
Could you give any pointers for how to spot a fake in regards to older Nendroids? And the differences between newer and older ones?
I got a fake miku 😢😔
and now
I LOST HER!!!😲😫
Marisol Lopez o no 😵, well maybe you'll get a new one again some day 🙃
Nendo Dream well I found miku that's a good thing
Marisol Lopez awesome 🤗
Awh I'm so sorry
Same, I lost my Aqua Nendoroid
My hanzo nendo I got from EB Games (Gamestop) doesn't have screws in the stand thing. I think that changed for some of the newer ones? I doubt the 70$ nendo from a store that officially licenses them will sell me a fake
Aww sad... my first figure was a bootleg.
Nah its not sad, I don't really mind if it's real/fake as long as ur happy with the item
Same, But I don’t mind
My dad ordered a figure for me cuz I wanted it, but idk if it real or fake becaus e it didn’t show the box, 🥺
Miss Kuromi who is it?
I have one bootleg but it actually is pretty good lol
I have the same bootleg.Should i toss it out?
I got bootleg because the one I had ,the mouth was no where the dent for the mouth when it came with like 10 neck pieces and came in horrible condition no box at all LITERALLY NO BOX!!! it came in bubble wrap?!?!
3:09 mine has short flaps but it has got the nendorid series sign and sculpted by name on the box..
im not sure if the one i bought is fake or not
I have real Umaru and her front piece broke after 4 hours of fun ;-; but it still work and look great.
Kanamuneko Chan they’re made for display lol
One helpful hint I like to mention specifically with nendoroids is most if not all authentic figures I have some across all have plastic wrapping around the figures where most fakes don't. The reason for the plastic is to prevent paint transfer. It's harder to tell with buying online, but if you see a figure locally or at a con, usually this is a good sign. But again, research is your friend. Actually found it funny. I recently saw a bootleg naruto nendoroid and it had the nine tail fox face on where the legit will ALWAYS (least what I've seen) will have the smiling face.
Does the fake have the smiley face on the neck piece?
I got a fake himouto umaru Chan figure too :()
is there any bootleg nendroids on crunchyroll or any other website?
Honestly I don't see the problem with getting a bootleg, they look exactly the same and they are cheap as hell
Theyre poorly made and will break easily. Not to mention you don’t get to support your favorite franchise
@@loboros3458 I don’t even like nendriods, I collect Funko Pops
@@1ROCKET-
Ouch, well the same problem would apply to buying fake funko pops
@@loboros3458 it is very hard to buy a fake Funko, it’s incredibly easy to tell if it’s fake and they are rarely sold
@@1ROCKET-
Reason being because Funkos already pretty cheap on release, so it's not really anything to copy. Bootlegs get more dangerous when the thing that's getting bootlegged is more valuable.
I thought i had my nendroids were real cuz i have 5 of them i thought i was a collector but i was bootleged.
I have umaru nendo and I go verification to her and ouf I have a real but where you buy the fake ?
What if its on amazon
Why does she sound sad? Is she ok?
I got a boot leg yoshino nendoroid but it's still pretty cute
Please answer this. If it shows a real picture but other one that everyone has on ebay can it also be a real?
I dont know to buy a original or bootleg because a bootleg cost like 15 dollars an a original costa like 40 dollars or more
You should’ve mentioned some other key elements. Like how sometimes a knockoff will also not list the site link on the sides of the box. Sometimes even the way it’s taped is a dead giveaway. Although identifying fakes is very variable and can vary based on generation. Use mfc people!
Do all nendoroids have an instruction manual?
Yes. They should anyway.
3:24 see how the yellow difference is different
xdd
It’s a doppelgänger
Is it sad that my 1st nendoroid is a bootleg kagamine rin (haven't received it yet tho..)
Ordered a umaru nendoroid
this video will help me determine if she is a bootleg!
I got a bootleg of Jiraiya from Naruto for $20 , i can't imagine paying $300 or more for the authentic rare one
i have a question, i want to order a Froppy figure, but I’m not sure if I should buy it because there still images and it doesn’t show the box?
BTS ARMY Froppy! If your buying it from a legitimate website you should be ok, but if it’s from a used goods website like eBay where you buying it from a person I always ask for a picture of the item they are selling so you know what your getting. But it’s all up to you 🙂 use your gut 👍
Nendo Dream oh okay thank you!
Is 52.46 too much for a bootleg?😱😬
Yes
I buy all my nendoroids from amiami or the GoodSmileCompany Website itself, and i just want to say that some figures fo have a really thing piece of tape holding in some of the pieces so they don't fall :)
I’m gonna buy an America nendoroid from Amazon and I’m excited but scared of getting a bootleg
i foun expensive nendoroid in shop i'm just confuses why they're nenderiod don't have logo at the top of it but in others nendoroid they have logo i don't really get it but they are really legit shop and figurines
Thanks so much! Now i can spot the real and the fake one! Oh also! I LOVE UMARUUUU!!! AND I LOVE THIS ANIME!!! She's my favorite!!!
Now I know I got a bootleg kirby nendoroid. Nice! But really thank you for telling me about spotting a fake thank you
god mine was fake one this wholetime
I got a yuri on ice nendroid and ots prop fake but its still not here so we will wait and see, to me if it was fake i prop wouldn't care because i got a whole different body for it and other clothes, so i prop wouldn't care about anything else other than the head but hope it is actually good quality!
I really want an authentic umaru/jotaro nendoroid but i can only find bootlegs😭😭😭
well she was re-released so there are more of her out there now, but good luck
I was gifted a bootleg umaru. Unknowingly, i just pulled the hair strands out of her coat lol, it worked
got a fake one ._.
I remember getting a bootleg carnage figure 1 hand didn't have a hole so it was useless
Now I don't trust bootleg products...
though most bootlegs now has the same box, with all the logo and everything. maybe except for the licensing sticker. another way to spot a bootleg, honestly all 5 date a live nendoroids I have are bootlegs but we call them class A. though im starting to get legit ones now.;D
Does the fake NENDOROID face fit on the real NENDOROIDs?
no i tried it wont i almost broke my real nendoroid cause of it
@@ohhlxmi ok thank you for telling me!
