      @Clique A 1560/1600 is already so high to the point that any score above barely helps and you could get diminishing returns if you retake and get a slightly lower score, its just not rly necessary

      People in my school retook 1580's..... needless to say most did not get a higher score. However I know 3 people for a fact in my highschool got 1600 their first try so yeet let's try to compete.

    Just watching this video, Made a new perception of Stanford students to me. They are not just geniuses in an epicenter of the tech capital of the world. They have some sort of wow factor that brings so much passion into the world. Each person has their own thing going and that’s awesome. Different people have similar goals which is to change the world in someway.

      Dude this might be late but fuck taking your Bsc at a high class school, get something you can afford but get the highest gpa possible and shit, but even that isnt neccessary. Just do what you want. After you take you bsc you start networking, emailing professors at the uni you want to go to visit them become their friends, have them write you letters and make sure they feel like they will be able to withstand you for the next 5 years as that is the biggest problem with grad school admissions.
      Well this is assuming you want to go to grad school which you should if you want to go to one of those top universities.
      But there is no point in going this way if you have such bland personalities as those kids in this video

    Retribution over rehabilitation doesn’t work. And specifically within the situation described, vengeance is being satisfied, which isn’t and never will be the answer to wrongdoing. I suppose specifically in the situation of rape, or financial exploitation, minor retribution might mend to a certain level, but for the overwhelming majority of cases within the criminal justice system such is the not the case. Compare the volume of criminals and magnitude of crimes in America to that in other countries proportionally, and you’ll be amazed at just how screwed up America is.

    • @giannigiovful
      @giannigiovful 5 лет назад +6

      Mr. Anderson
      Their essay seems to be based on emotional appeal from what they've said (and it's likely the case since it's a college essay, not a study). Actual data shows that retribution is super ineffective compared to rehabilitation. The only thing you get out of retribution is the feeling of satisfaction that you're helping society by punishing "degenerate" criminals, when in reality once they get out of prison they will likely return since they've learned nothing from the experience unlike systems that use rehabilitation.
      There's a reason 2/3 of criminals return in 5 years.

    Hey,
    I'm Pranav from India,
    The video was amazing. Thank you for posting a content like this.
    As I mentioned, I am from India. Highschools here do not have such kind of clubs and other stuff that I can include in my extracurriculars. Is there a chance that I can get into Stanford and Other top universities without clubs and other extracurriculars provided from schools??
    Outside of School, I know how to program and that is my passion. That's what I do in my free time. I make apps, games and websites. How can I write this as my extracurriculars???

    • @babycoda9207
      @babycoda9207 4 года назад +6

      Hey pranav. I'm too from India. Lucknow, to be more precise. My school too doesn't have such clubs. But you can always start one. Start a club about something you're passionate bout. Saying that you started a club is more impressive than saying that you were part of the club.
      I want to get into MIT and just as you, the thing I'm passionate about is programming. If you show them that you're really passionate about it, you can easily get into. Winning a few olympiads, representing country at IOI or an internship in a company would increase your chances. Always keep in mind, stanford wants a well rounded class, not a well rounded student. It doesn't matter whether you were part of some club you hardly care about, the important thing is doing what you like, i.e. coding. The key is distinguishing yourself from the herd.

      @@babycoda9207 But would founding clubs have any value unless they've been awarded or presented at a higher level? I mean anyone can start a let's say coding or dance club but unless they win something would it make sense to put that in your application?

    • @sharithajayanandan6691
      @sharithajayanandan6691 4 года назад +3

      @@babycoda9207 thanks dude. If I was to write down my ECs it would be like this -
      1) Have won prizes in my schools science exhibition in 9th and 10th ( I did something coding related)
      2) Worked for an Open Source Project which aims to provide free education to low income families( I worked in their frontend dev team)
      3) Have done some coding projects.
      4) Won prizes in regional and school level quiz competitions ( Not coding related)
      5) Competitive Programming ( I do it in my free time and have not taken it seriously)
      6) Did a Programming Bootcamp from IIT Kanpur.
      Are these ECs decent enough for making my application look different from the rest of the herd??
      Currently I am exploring other fields of CS and found Neural Networks and Deep Learning very interesting. I am doing some MOOCs and diving into other resources in the internet on this topic. I am also looking for joining summer programs from us universities like RSI, YYGS etc.
      How's things going for you? Are you also applying to abroad, if so can we contact?

    Is essay required to get into Stanford?

  • @carlozollinger3012
    @carlozollinger3012 5 лет назад +8

    All you have do is found your own nonprofit, be more financially capable than a majority of the US, preferably live in a bigger city as education especially from more established high schools or private schools is looked at more fondly that a small town education, bullshit an essay that conveys a side of you that isn’t true but is still quite profound. That said you absolutely need to be smarter than the majority of if not all your peers. Getting into a school like Stanford is no joke. All in all if you completely all of these tasks you still have a 50/50 shot because college admissions are completely subjective. Having gone through the process almost completely random. I personally did not apply to Stanford but did apply to many “prestigious” schools. I have a better chance of explaining the principles of non abelian gauge theory to a first grader than explaining the criteria for admitting students to schools. I was very fortunate to only see one rejection and one waitlist. The school I was waitlisted at was deemed “inferior” by the internet and media compared to other schools I had been admitted at. Hell I remember I took a lot of more time on that school than a majority. If that happens to you let’s face it you weren’t good enough for them. I might not make sense to you but that’s the whole synopsis of this rant of mine if you will. At a school like Stanford the process is 1% hardwork 1% determination 48 % bullshit and 50% straight luck. Unless your family name is on a building at the school nothing’s guaranteed but you certainly can distance yourself from other candidates with the opportunities you have been presented in life. It’s not exactly fair at all but that’s life.
