wow, this game is EPIC. I like the sportsmanship of ITO. She was really aggressive and is eager to beat SUN, however, this also made her not be able to well control her pace and started making too many mistakes as the turning point to lose. SUN is such an amazing player. She could hold her breath even though losing the first 2 games. She can manage her emotion and state of mind so well and this is key for her smiling at the last. They all played extremely well.

And then she just gave 5 free points by stupidly attacking. If she can control her temple, she should finish the match 3-0. The Chinese staff understands this, and asked Sun Yingsha serve long, and use more risky shots. At the final set, 2-2, Mima Ito was leading 10-7. But she can't finish the match. This is table tennis! If you can't close the set, then you will lose. I think that Mima Ito will cry a lot tonight. Well played both players.

Ito's trump card is her BH SP that upsets the timing and judgment of her opponent. Short serves, loops and pushes to her BH is asking for a kill. Winning this match took SYS 2 games to find/learn/adjust to Ito's style then finally cracked through. Admire her patience and wits on top of earned skills/techniques. Mr. Hou YingChao (Ext CNT, BH SP user) has analyzed Ito's game very well. Guess the Chinese coaches have done the same. Japan has lost the latest surprise advantage and needs to find a new way to counter their nemesis now.
A brilliant match, and its conclusion is going to hurt Ito. Badly for a few days I should think. But it's not like this was one of the thrashings Kasumi and Miu usually get when a Chinese star really wants to win. All it comes down to is two bad service decisions at the end. If one of those was good, she'd have won the match. And deserved it too. Some of her play in three of the sets was sublime. I do not think this will be 'a decisive victory' in Ito's battles with China. I think Wang Yidi did a lot more damage in Hong Kong, but 4 months later she's beating Sun and WM in Sweden.
