Me and another soldier were in the field for training in Germany and we were in our jeep and found a apple orchard and of course we helped ourselves and the next day CO instructed unit not to leave training area due to apple theives. The other soldier was my unit Command Sergeant Major. We had a good laugh.

@@mayling9799 - Long story short... They were disposable. There was no real reason to have American troops in Iraq.
When soldiers started coming back in body bags support which was almost non-existent began to sink lower. Someone had the bright idea to send in American mercenaries. That way if they get blown up no one would care because before then American mercenaries, also known as PMCs or Private Military Contractors were not known to the public.
It was only after some Blackwater contractors saved American troops who were stranded on the battlefield that people began to care. Shortly after other blackwater troops were tortured and left to die on a bridge and at that point became part of the regular discourse surrounding the war.
