- If there's anything about dog training that I'm consistently asked about, it's how to train a dog for indoor living. Here's a few tips on how I've been doing it with some tried and true methods that have worked for years.
Find out more at www.teamdog.pet.
Thanks for the info brother.
Griff don't take no shit
How bout a review of the Ruger 5 7....:)

When do we get lama training videos?
👆 this.
😂
"this is not your casting couch" - Classic Ritland. P.S. even Mike's living room rug has its own rug
Mike randomly tightening Lewis up on his Dutch in the middle of this was fun 🤣
most underated youtube channel....
The dog is cool and all, but show us what you've trained the fish to do.
His reef is better than both my tanks combined I bet given his work ethic.
Salt water tanks = Pain in the ass!
I bet he has personal protection paranahs.
If you dont have personal protection fish.. choke yourselves!!
They can do everything the dogs do, he gives a command and they jump out of the water and flop over to him.
As owners of a trained dogs I would like to add that after your dog has this training you STILL have to stay on top of it. We have become lazy through the years and our GSD's are smart. You let them get by with one lapse and it is like starting over. We used a lifted climb and would tell them to climb and they would get on it. But through the years they broke or we moved so much there was no room. We are getting ready to move into a bigger place and my first purchase is their own dog beds. Thank you for the reminder how important this is. DON"T GET LAZY PEOPLE!!! because it will be your fault not the dogs.
Same way with the bully breeds.
Smart dogs are awesome, but they definitely require diligence.😁
So freaking well said! Like kids….as they mature, have to have their boundaries “reset”. I have an Australian Shepherd….we use the local Rail Trails, as it gives me/us plenty of practice on proper behavior and response to my commands with walkers, joggers, bicycles, tricycles, e-bikes, and importantly, other dog walkers. Great comment, Alicia….absolutely great comment. Something that I think many dog owners don’t realize is, that the “learning and practice” never ends. And “refresher training” with the proper reward system, I think, is fun for the dog, too. (I swear, when mine gets a “good girl, good girl” with a small treat and a rigorous rub on her neck behind her ears, she smiles!). And your comment made me smile! Take care, Alicia.
dude your sense of humor is Grade A+++
Recently signed up for Team Dog with my 8 week old GSD - Mike’s content is legit - my dog can sit on command and has been crating as well! Thanks, Mike!
"He likes to short stroke it...just like me lady's" Mike dropping comedy claymores LIKE A BOSS!!
Ya not super professional.
@@grassshadow1 when your a badass Navy SEAL, professionalism is rarely what normal people equate to being professional.
@@grassshadow1 there’s a monumental difference between military professional, and civilian professional.
Military style is way more straightforward and clear than civilian style.
👍🏻
@@Daddy53751 understood..I work in that environment. ..but he is dealing with the private sector now.
@@grassshadow1 I love the straight forwardness of it, and think the world has more than enough infantalizing of adults.
A bit of skin toughening is well overdue.
The correction and reward timing is what’s invaluable to me.
"leave it alone...Christ this isn't casting couch" hahahaha
Love the no BS training videos... plus the quick comments "He likes to short stroke it... kinda like me- Ladies" haha. Great stuff! informational, engaging, and funny at the same time.
You had me at “short stroke”😲😂...nice video! Training a rescue big puppy with your help on team dog ..been a great help
Mike thanks ,for saving these Dogs.My dog died a year ago.To me it would be a dream of my to own a Dog that you have worked with.I really injoy watching you work with these Dogs. God bless you and your family.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENCE IN DUTCH AND GERMAN. I train my dogs in German and get THE SAME SHIT.
CHEERS, BROTHER. KEEP IT UP. MUCH GRATITUDE.
Keep safe and stay frosty.
Thank you again so much for sharing all of your expertise. You've done great things for my dogs and myself.
Great content! I am surrounded by dog owners who feel their dogs should be able to behave how they want & that it’s “too harsh” to train their dogs to do what they’re told. Really it’s that the owners are too damn lazy to put in the time.
Thank you. Arrow is a beautiful dog! Just today I was having a discussion about place & platz sounding too much the same so I had to switch it up for my dog to use "bed" instead of place. He got it right away. Dogs are smarter than many give them credit for.
This is amazing. Not trying to blow up your skirt but this is top tier stuff. I’ve been searching RUclips for good training stuff and this is it. I’ll be getting your book and look forward to learning as I also train my dog. Thank you!
Clicker training is amazing. I'd never heard of it before we got our Border Collie and it's an invaluable tool. Thanks for the video.
Mike your r the man. ..thanks for all the information not only on dog training but everything including ur interviews..I love it.
That was soo awsome when he said platz and the dog sat at his left and then scooched over to get closer
AWESOME seeing you on Valuetainment the other day Mike. I wish more people would highlight you. Honestly, it was the first time i didnt hear Pat talking over people...you could feel his respect for ya. I think soyboy was a little intimidated also lol. Selfishly, i want more people to have you on their podcasts...hopefully Rogan some time soon 🤞
Mike you have very clear way of teaching💪👍👍
Mike, you, your videos, simply outstanding…..I’m a recent subscriber. I’m in my mid-60s, retired Navy and retired federal wildlife officer. After numerous moves, I eventually became Chief of Law Enforcement for the northeastern U.S. Once I obtained that position, I struggled to sell my region on the “value” of K9 Officers, having known and worked with other region’s K9 LEOs. I learned a lot working with and closely watching these amazing teams. And what I learned, really helped me “bond with and control” our Australian Shepherd post-retirement. And I have yet to watch one of your videos that I didn’t / don’t learn something new. Plus, I really like your direct approach in instructing the viewer…some would call it not exactly “PC”….whatever the hell that means these days…but now retired, in a primarily “left-leaning” part of the country, I miss it. Helpful? Absolutely! Outstanding? Yep! My dog and I spend a lot of time on her “manners” and response to me, and when we run (for me these days, more like a light trot!) the local Rail Trail. She gets compliments often…and from what I observe of other dog owners, I wish they’d watch your videos! Aside from the value of your content….you have a great sense of humor! I laugh often! Bravo-Zulu, brother….I wish you well!
Beautiful home sir!
Amazing channel brother. Much love from an Air Force Veteran from Texas, sir.
Thanks for the video Mike- been a member of Teamdog for awhile and really appreciate it- you and the community rock! Really love these videos!!
Great video for us hunting dog owners who’s gun dog double as the family pet. The same genetics that make rockstars are what can get them in deep dookie around the house!Thank you
I don't know what to pay attention to more, Arrow or the amazing trim work in your home!!
You make me miss Jersey. Realized talk, real world. I catch crap at our Schutzhund club for training him for protection and having him as a family dog. I love your real world expectations to prepare for everything he may be exposed to. We have a 6 month old mal. I train him in the rain, house, playgrounds (our kids are grown,) buildings, parking lots. We try to expose him to noises and distractions so he knows he needs to follow commands regardless of whats going on around him.
Transitioned really well. Adjusting and adapting; you make it look easy.
Fantastic! My 2 yr old mini mal anticipates like crazy. It’s all about timing for sure. Gotta put the time in and mark at the correct time.
Awesome videos. Your job is not a common one, so it's great to see what you do and how you do it.
I did this with my huskies, really gotta nail it! Thanks for this info! People need to focus on lessons like these over many other things people seek to teach their dogs.
Well timed. My wife and I went and bought a dog yesterday. I’ve watched a ton of your videos and am really considering buying your training videos. I appreciate all of the knowledge.
Very good information. A behavior that is rewarded is one that will be duplicated.
I wish people would read that again and think on it for a while.
Thats one amazing dog !
Once again, great guidance.
Mike, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Coincidentally, my Mike just came inside with our new pup saying "settle down". Yep, we definitely need the training info!
Mike….I vote you for doing training videos lol….to the point ,simple, specific and a lot of work and devotion with detail. Thanks for the help and info Mike much appreciated
Great stuff! Beautiful thing to watch a well trained dog!
Impressive Mike. That’s incredible discipline by the dog. Really impressive
Got alot of respect for you and others alike, real life super heros on many levels 💯
Great sense of humor
Great info
This guy is the best.
I love dogs. I wouldn't be without one. Covid has made my dog much more important for my mental health.
Beautiful dog. Just nothing better. Smart. Well trained. Beautiful.
Awesome video!! Thanks Mike!!
Beautiful smart dog.
Need a video explaining how you get your dogs used to a vacuum. My GSD pup goes crazy at the sight of a swiffer sweeper. Lol thanks for the content
Great job sir....I just ordered your New book Keep up the Great work
“Wrestling” in the other room. Slick, Mike.
Absolutely love these type of videos. Amazing dogs and training.
Great stuff Mike. Thanks
Not sure why people are rude, my e key is sticking, I think your brilliant, some people think proper dog training is easy, I don't think so,, the best trainers I thought were not, they called it K 9 academy, and the people I met that that sad German commands , with fierce guard dogs, seemed very mean kennels n all, I know it takes Expertise and mad skills to Train ,of best of the best ,from Tactical to, Thank you Mike Ritland
Solid info in a short amount of time. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for the content.
Awesome Mike.
More please.
Amazing. I don’t have any better way of saying it. Just amazing. Appreciate all you do.
Excellent video. Thank you.
Thanks for the great video and info
Geet vid!! Would love to see you have Drago on your podcast from the old Sof Rep vid.
It'd be interesting to see a video on your perspective on what a potential client should look for when their contemplating adding a personal protection dog to their family.
These videos act as a preview so I can get a really good idea what your training website will be like. Def subscribing to your website with new dog coming soon.
Mike, would you consider doing a video on how to train a dog with multiple other dogs present? I’m getting a new puppy and have older dogs. I don’t want to always lock the other dogs outside, and think simultaneously having all in the room would be a good exercise. But it’s also complicated. Awesome content! Many thanks.
Start out isolated until the dog is SOLID.... Introduce smaller distractions and work your way up to bigger distractions, like ONE dog.... Until he can handle multiple dogs, distractions, environments...
I know you didnt ask ME but i couldnt help be "that guy"
Awesome information! You are hilarious Sir! The "He likes to short stroke it... Like me ladies.." comment had me laughing so hard!
.,?
Hi. Enjoy your videos. Thank you for your service also. Bought one of your books and are reading it. Love the down to earth and just the way you say whats on your mind! I have my parents shepherd and are spending alot of time with her because they weren’t doing anything with her and i lost one of my labs. Love learning! Im sure there is a lot of clickers out there but what are you using. Wish people would spend time with there dogs more! Last thing- thank you for saving all the dogs you do! Have a good day
Yep, Balance of reinforcement. Love it...
Awesome Mike thanks!
That’s brilliant man….ur a dead set legend brother.

youre an amazing trainer sir!
I love the way you do it. Subscribed
Definitely
Loving these vids man, keep em going
Morning Mike. Can you do a video on someone braking in to the house and the response of the dog? Very good video and already practicing on my son dog. I mean "click" commending to com to his side and a bite. Surprised about the prompted response.
Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful dog and a great posture at the end of the video.
Hopefully the dog doesnt do jack shit until you tell it to.... Dogs making decisions leads to dogs getting put down
It looks like you have a nice reef tank in the background I would love to see it as a fellow fishkeeper.
Love the aquarium

Hey Mike, i'm Dutch myself and thanks for adressing the comments hehe. Been binging your content recently and love the real life content. You're a funny dude :-) Going to the Royal Military School in 6 months to become an infantry sergeant. Thanks for the inspiration and keep it up :)
Succes Freak, en alvast bedankt voor je dienst kerel.
@@Sarge80 Thanks Rolf :^)
From what I know, German commands for security dogs, were quick n precise, a few other languages as well, was a long time ago, one word was ripe the throat out , similar to sit , key to best handlers,
(casting couch🤣) that made me laugh. Great video. I liked that you mentioned the timing with the clicker too. And about the constant control. It's easy to get 'lax' on that and think that the dog was trained and he'll always know to do it, but if you stop enforcing it then it'll eventually get sloppy and could even disappear. You have to stay on it. I'm so glad I did with mine. But yesterday and today for the first time he didn't 'off' at the window. If you're saying "off" for the 4th time and having to scream it like a crazy girl and the neighbors can hear you then you're slacking or someone's breaking in. It wasn't someone breaking in. Oh wait🤔 first time in 4 months he didn't 'off' and almost went through the window. He did that a lot before a year and a half ago and his head went through. They're ancient windows, but still.🤔 wasnt too smart of me to not look. duh. People don't realize how smart these dogs are. He can feel things from 2 blocks away, or know things. (I dont know how or the science behind it and I never believed it until I found out a few times). Then I took out a picture and showed him. Ha🤣 ohhhhh nooo waai🤔 maybe thaaat's .. never mind. I'm writing a book. Lol
I don't give a fuck about the dog training shit I just love to hear Mike talk , he is so hilarious !
Awesome brother
So much info in one video
