    I emigrated from Switzerland to the USA and live here for almost 20 years now... I was always amazed and visited ZRH so many times in the past and cannot wait until the next time... Amazing what they built, it is worth to take a break of flying and relax and experience ZRH...

    Planning my next trip to Switzerland. We just returned from a trip where we arrived and departed from the US via FRA. I did this to avoid three flights and routing through LHR (we fly AA). Never again will I fly through FRA. Too big and disorganized. AA flys from PHL to ZUR and after seeing this video, I am in. I had considered flying in to Geneva and out of Zurich. I will be changing my plans. Thanks for the video.

    I have to admit that ZRH Airport is one of Europe's best world class airports out there other than AMS Airport Schiphol, FRA Airport, and IST Airport, just to name a few. ZRH is located in 5 northern suburbs of Zürich which are Winkel, Oberglatt, Kloten, Rümlang, and Opfikon.

    Just returned from Zurich airport. All I remember was long line after long line. After we arrived, we had to walk at least 10 minutes to the custom line. The line was at least 1000 meter long and took almost two hours to get to the officer for three questions and a stamp on my passport. The staffs at this line told us this line is always this long day and night. After the custom, it was another long walk to pick up luggage, long line for security. We learned the lesson. On the way back, we arrived the airport 3.5 hours early. All this time was spent on the lines, airline check in,custom, security. This is a beautiful airport but we did not get a chance to check it out. Wish there was more worker . Love this video and loveSwitzerland .

      @mimi444mimi 9 месяцев назад +1

      There are 3 check in terminals and 4 gate terminals A,B,D and E. D is right below B for non shengen countries meanwhile B is for shengen countries. So planes that come from shengen countries and take a non shengen route afterwards usually land at B/D so it’s more practicals for arrivals and boarding.

      Nice footage. And yes, exactly, Dock E via Underground train departing from the Airside center. If you are not flying you reach observation deck E by bus from Rooftop D/B. The second observation deck at Dock E is only for lucky Business class/First class passengers. One more thing about "The Circle", go to the restaurant Le Sablier on the 8th floor and enjoy a Cocktail on the rooftop while watching the planes circling in the sky (lunch time, best spotting time).

    I am always surprised that hardly any video about Switzerland is warning visitors that on weekends, most of the retail shops including restaurants and gasoline stations ARE CLOSED. When in Zurich - the Main Railway Station Zurich HB - and the Airport are open!

      So what?

    • @mySalerno
      @mySalerno 29 дней назад

      It’s not the weekend but only on Sundays. And not true fost restaurants and gas stations.
      And by the way, it’s not that uncommon in europe. Same in Germany and Austria.

    • @BernhardSchwarz-xs8kp
      @BernhardSchwarz-xs8kp 29 дней назад

      The fact that it is not uncommon anywhere does not mean it is not a fact in Switzerland.
      And no - Saturdays and Sundays you will not find open gas stations - or restaurants unless you are in a tourist center or at the airport or major rail sations.

    • @mySalerno
      @mySalerno 28 дней назад

      @@BernhardSchwarz-xs8kp you made it sound like a very shocking news that’s why i said that it’s not an uncommon thing in europe.
      But what you say is simply not the truth. Even the small village where my parents live has a gas station with a little shop that’s open every day. And even when the shop closes in the evening you can get gas 24/7 with your credit card.
      And that most restaurants are closed on saturday is just bullshit. It’s the busiest day for restaurants 😂 few restaurants are closed on sundays but thats not the case in major cities.

    I'm not really a fan of Zürich Airport. It is super confusing and the signs often are not really helping. It's in no way as bad as something like la guardia because the services are great and everything feels modern and well maintained, but the whole complex lacks coherence.

    Just traveled through Zurich last week. One of the worst airport experiences I’ve ever had. Signage is next to impossible to understand, staff is thoroughly unhelpful, there were very few food options, and the Swiss Air lounge had inedible food. My home airports are JFK and EWR, and Zurich nearly made me long for them. Not looking forward to transiting through there again.

      @@andrejka_talking_out_loud I'm not sure I'd say that Zurich was worse than JFK, but at least in JFK I can figure out how to find what I need. That said, JFK is significantly dirtier and customer service is nonexistent. I found Zurich to be quite clean and rather beautiful, but impossible to navigate, no customer service, and lacking in food options. I'm actually scheduled to transfer through Zurich again in February 2024, so I'm hoping that my last experience was just a fluke. Will try to stay positive!

    Traveled through ZRH a couple of days ago. Worse than Stansted if that is possible.
    Left Geneva. Arrived at Zurich. Connection to SFO.
    Went from Term A to Term E. Required to go through passport control. Why? I had not left the EU. I had not left Switzerland.
    Waited for gate assignment. Comes up E45. Go there, no flight. Look at the board. Now is says E19. Walk to E19. Asked to go to passport control again. Get to passport control and asked why I am not at E34. Walked to E34. All of this was done with my handicapped wife. No assistance anywhere.
    Swiss trains. Superb.

      You left Geneva for Zurich, you never left Switzerland correct, but you were on a domestic flight to Zurich, not an international flight. So you never did passport control to board an international flight. Let alone to the US, which adds a whole lot of of hassle. So it's just normal you had to go through passport control in Zurich.
