Here's an end to end look at how Spotify works on the Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music (and soon LTE/Cellular variant). From getting it installed on your watch to connecting your Spotify account and downloading music. Plus basic usage.
Note that it does require that you have a Spotify Premium account, as well as nearby WiFi and your phone paired. You do not need your computer handy.

Hi Ray, have you noticed this problem or bug? I noticed that some songs are not uploaded to the device even when properly labeled (this is music transfer thru garmin connect) Can you shed light on this matter? Thanks
How long does the watch last with gps and music running?

Hey! A while ago i was able to switch songs on the watch without being connected to any earbuds etc. Music was playing only over the phone, but i no longer can do it? Was there an update and is it no longer possible?

I have problems with the music. The watch connects to my headphones but won't play music when I press play. It just buzzes and goes on pause on itself.

Just to confirm...once you download the playlist to your watch, you can go outside for a run and it will play through the songs? Or will the songs only play with a wi-fi connection?
Correct, once downloaded you can go as far away from civilization as desired and still play music.
they are downloaded permanently - don't need wifi to listen - need wifi to load them on obviously
Great walkthrough! How is the connectivity between the watch and various earbuds? Does it consistently pair quickly and are there frequent dropouts?
No issues with dropouts in a widespread sense, however I find that it’s important to figure out which side of headphone is communications chipset, and wear your watch on same side - for some combos. Applicable to many watches actually.
For my it pairs instantly.
I bought some Anker headphones on Amazon ($30) and was suprised that I have had 0 issues with connectivity.
Do you know if this watch can sync with AirPods?
I just added Spotify to my Vivoactive 3. Does this remove all other music content? I can not get to Manage Music and select source.

Just find out. Go over Spotify widget and then hold and press the screen, it will open music parameters and then you can clic on "Music Providers" to listen to your music. ;)
Quick question:
If i download a playlist from my phone to my watch and then delete that playlist off of my phone... Will the music stay on my watch until i decide to remove it from my watch? Or is this the case?: ---> it's connected to my account and what gets added on my phone gets added to my watch (if downloaded) and what is deleted from my phone is now no longer an option to download on the watch... Does that make sense? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I tried but no updates for the device come up in Garmin express so I guess I need to wait.
:/ Yeah, sounds like might be some servers not fully in sync. Also worthwhile to try Garmin Webupdater. Super dependable.
@@Dcrainmaker Apparently the one I got from Amazon is an Asia Pacific device and cannot get the update and Spotify. Super major disappointment.

I've had the watch for about 6 months. Updates come directly to the watch, not through Garmin Express.
@@chuckwarnock9220 Correct, but that will always be slightly delayed. The question was how to get just released updates to appear immediately. Garmin Express or Garmin Webupdater is a way of forcing updates to show up immediately.
