- On Monday, December 4th, 2023, the Prime Minister and Home Secretary shared a plan to control immigration and reduce the overall number of people coming to the UK.
This plan, along with rules to limit student dependants, means that approximately 300,000 individuals who would have been eligible under last year's regulations won't be able to come.

There is a new update as of yesterday
Does it mean that, for those who are already here will not be affected
But family visa is different from skilled worker visa. The 29k is for family visas, while skilled worker visas remain at 38k
The skilled worker's threshold will be introduced gradually starting at £29k annually and then to £38k if you are changing employers you'll have to meet the current salary threshold at that time

People we need to continue to apply pressure, sign petitions & email your MPs! I really hope the conservatives get thrown out of power so labour comes in & we can get some stability
Do you have links to any petitions? Immigrants are taken for granted and that's not cool
Please if you can send this around to everybody you know in the UK & have them sign & have people who are affected by this contact their MPs with personal stories b/c many MPs are actually listening & voicing their constituents grievances in parliment

Uk operates an unwritten constitution, elections are usually won here by anti immigration parties. Besides petitions would make no difference, a country has the right to make immigration policies to reflect the wishes of the electorate unfortunately immigration is a privilege not a right.
I am from India, actually students can't switch before course completion and they are saying that dependants who are in the UK have to go back if we are taking a carer visa after this date.
I came here with my child and husband. I am planning to take a carer visa after my course completion which is in June. 😢😢
