Love the way the bus/ transporter is going, I would like to see it painted the white / yellow combination, it would be awesome, also the engine fully restored,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌
Finally!!!!! some mini bus owner that is not a pop fan or a hippie!!! man! awesome djent songs here!!! and your mini bus is really nice! cool restoration!!, i hope mine looks like this someday! cheers!
I have a special place in my heart for the old Volkswagen buses, you guys took something that was headed for the scrapyard and brought it back to life. is that a rat rod sitting next to it.
Thanks Kevin. The Model A sitting in the adjacent stall was a perfect candidate for a rat rod, the cab was pulled out of a field, no frame, engine or trans. One of my students did a full resto over the course of a year, with no prior paint/body work experience. It turned out very nice.
The difference between a European VW bus restoration RUclips clip and a US one dealing about the same subject: the first one has very relaxing background music, the second one spolis it all by adding a thick sauce of American waltzmusic, these guys on the other side of the big pond definetely come from another planet, probably the third moon on the left of Pluto.
My '57 bug was T-boned one night by a drunken idiot from Connecticut driving a Chrysler, running a stop sign. Good thing he hit the passenger side or I'd be long dead. Broke every window in the car. Brought it home to the back yard, and pulled the body off. I found it was very easy to clean the pan that way, everything much lighter and easy to get to. Just the bolts around the floor pan and off it came. I scraped, primed, and painted the pan top and bottom, cleaned up the engine and transmission with wire brushes, same thing with the swing axles and front torsion bars, and painted it all with Rustoleum primer and overcoated with a couple of coats of Krylon. Sold it to a guy who put a dune buggy body on. I was surprised to see that you didn't pull the body to work on the pan - it's so much easier to get into spots that way. then bolt it back in place. I also had a '59 panel van that I revived, put in a South Wind gas heater, and drove for decades. The van pan seemed MUCH heavier than the bug pan, so it was a bear drilling through for the exhaust pipe for the gas heater - but the car would heat up in seconds in the coldest of winter days. I envy you your project - it brought back many memories.
What a solid bus to start with. Did you buy or make those vertical parts that support the wall and connect to the cargo floor ? All my buses have issues there....this video makes me want to go work on mine right now...
Thank you, +DanTheManIOM. It was painted in the early 90's and never put back together. I'm sure the new paint helped preserve it all these years. Unfortunately it was showing its age. All new Auto-Craft panels came over from the UK, purchased from VintageWagen, including the 2 middle supports. I didn't plan on replacing the front most support because it didn't show visible damage; once I got the rocker off I could see the rust damage inside. I then had to fabricate a new front support out of my 2 original damaged rails. Added some extra flanges to bond/weld to, I think it turned out alright.
Looks like you got all the metal work taken care of. I was gonna suggest checking out funky green panels. I got my lower nose and battery tray replacement through them. The bus is looking good man I’d like to see an update.
+Val Tito They wouldn't let me blast at school. I had to do it all by hand with power tools. I took a wire wheel to the long side inner rocker, and POR15'd the accessible areas. I will be adressing the underside next taking care of rust, and coating the inner frame rails. Stay tuned!
+Bryan Wittine Curious why you choose POR15 as opposed to a weld through primer like zinc phosphate? POR15 burns when welded near and it is not conductive. Just curious, great work on the bus I will add.
+Cody Diek, I used weld thru primer on the vertical supports which were welded in, seen in gold. I only used Por15 in the inner rocker pannel. I used panel bonding and adhesive to apply the outer rocker skin, and welded the top seam where it meets the rest of the sheet metal.
Thanks MrPhenomenon1, it's some early recordings of my brother's metal band. Serpens Cauda based out of Twin Falls, Idaho. Check em out, they just released a video on their Facebook page.
Parabéns pelo trabalho de qualidade , tenho uma Kombi 1969 , e estou reformando uma Rural Willys 1967 série luxo , dar uma olhada no meu vídeo agradeço atenção 👍 🇧🇷
Hi, watched the video , you have a problem you didn't sandblast under the van to remove the "RUST" it will come back to bite your ass man? on the outside you did a really good job "great job" But ! yeah hope it is not too Late it's a Beautiful Van :)
charles. stewart Thanks for your comment. My instructor wouldn't let me sandblast, because of the mess. So I had to take it down with DA and rice cakes. The next phase of the restoration will be to address the underside, by getting it on a rotisserie. It will get the full treatment. Stay tuned for the next video.
Bryan Wittine great job!!! It's looking good. We just finished restoring a 78' kombi. Had a blast with my two sons on this project. Don't give up on it. Let me know how your doing. We live in Parma. Not to far from where you did all your work
Probably due to cost, these vehicles were meant to be affordable way to haul cargo. The cost of steel replacement pannels is already expensive. The weight savings would be awesome though.
Not sure what I did wrong. It is labeled as a slideshow, and no matter what music is used someone will dislike it. There is a mute button, available for your use. RUclips flagged my original song choices for copyright issues, so I used recordings of local artists with their permission.
This is the most underrated soundtrack I've ever heard!
That body is truly a rare find .I love seeing one done right.keep up the good work.
Love the way the bus/ transporter is going, I would like to see it painted the white / yellow combination, it would be awesome, also the engine fully restored,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌

glad there is a noise mute key on my computer!
slowed it to .25 and could pay attention to the process better. That also kills the sound. (whew!)
pussy
Silence is golden.

Resto work is A+... Mute key is necessary.

That's so freakin' awesome. So very jealous.
Terrible music but nice restoration, thumb up :)
I'll just turn the music off...
Superbe travail magnifique
would it have been worth it to soda blast outside and inside panels as you opened her up? just to make sure that there is no more rust anywhere?
+Val Tito They wouldn't let me blast at school. I had to do it all by hand with power tools. I took a wire wheel to the long side inner rocker, and POR15'd the accessible areas. I will be adressing the underside next taking care of rust, and coating the inner frame rails. Stay tuned!
anyway nice work for what you had to work with Merry Christmas

That soundtrack is so unsuitable for this. Actually it's unsuitable for anything. Use music next time. Good luck with the van. Looks good.
Ok this was 2-1/2 years ago. Wheres the finished product??
Очень хорошее видео! Спасибо.
Terrible Musik, but great work.
Furchtbare Musik und recht wahllose Bilder, Ansonsten gute Arbeit an dem Bus!

Thanks MrPhenomenon1, it's some early recordings of my brother's metal band. Serpens Cauda based out of Twin Falls, Idaho. Check em out, they just released a video on their Facebook page.

Bryan Wittine Ok cool , l can't wait LOL !

Love watching restorations, but the music was like scratching the blackboard with fingernails. Terrible noise!!!😖
What welder are you using. Is it run on 110 or 240 volt? Many thanks.
I was using Millermatic 135, its a 110v MIG with mixed sheilding gas.

Bryan Wittine No dude its a fact. No one in the comments say they like.

Que precio tienen
Супер!
Meshuggah?
Serpens Cauda, heavily influenced by Meshuggah.
I'm goin listning Serpens Cauda. )))
Why didn't they just use aluminium?
Probably due to cost, these vehicles were meant to be affordable way to haul cargo. The cost of steel replacement pannels is already expensive. The weight savings would be awesome though.
better with sandblasting.
Unfortunately they would not let me sand blast at school. I was also concerned about warping the long panels.
old klein bus and fix it..
You would have been much better off to have had narration or no sound.
Essa musica acabou com o video

Pessima música.. para a propositura di vídeo
Tell about the process instead of playing terrible music
Quite possibly the worst music background. Mute.
Music 😡
Thumbs down. No video, just a photoshow, and the worst music ever. Sorry dude, nice topic, but really bad concept.
Not sure what I did wrong. It is labeled as a slideshow, and no matter what music is used someone will dislike it. There is a mute button, available for your use. RUclips flagged my original song choices for copyright issues, so I used recordings of local artists with their permission.
