In this digital age, there's still lots of love for model trains. By combining the nostalgia of model trains with modern day technology, Trainworld in Kensington, BK is an oasis for children and collectors alike. As small toy shops decrease in the city, the Bianco family has adapted with the times to make their trains appealing to the younger generation.

The last time I went to Trainworld was back in 2017. I know I haven't bought from Ken since I moved out of Providence to East Providence, RI in January 2018. I really didn't have money due to being laid off from a seasonal restaurant. I was able to get back my job, and that's when I made good money and was able to buy from Trainworld, a train set for my cousins Kids that live in Chicago, by phone order. After that my work hours were cut when the Summer ended. I worked in restaurants for over 21 years and made good money to buy so many trains. Here in Rhode Island I buy my trains from AA Hobbies and Hobby Color both stores in Warwick, RI. My cousin doesn't know too much about model trains, besides her job as an RN/Nurse hahaha, well her Kids were so very excited and loved that Bachmann Thunder Chief train set with DCC digital sounds that I Allen their uncle bought for them from Trainworld, NYC, NY, that Bachmann train set#0826 by phone order and had it shipped to their house in Morton Grove/Chicago, IL. When UPS arrived at their house the kids were so happy that the train set came a few days after I bought it. I bought my Bachmann Thunder Chief train set with the DCC digital sounds from Trainworld back in 2017.- Allen

I'm fortunate enough to have a local hobby shop that's named after a train and has a lot of train stuff (Hiawatha hobbies) and a local train store run by great people (sommerfelds trains). I know many people aren't as lucky.

I bought my last three o gauge engines from Trainworld and nothing but top shelf service. I love how they double box them to keep my new prized possessions safe during transit.

My cousins Kids who live in Morton Grove/Chicago, IL would be so glad if they went to NYC, NY especially to Trainworld. I believe my cousins Kids were born in Evanston, IL at the hospital my cousin works in as an ER RN/Nurse. My cousins kids were born in Chicago, IL and love trains they are both almost 4 and 6. They rode on Thomas the train at the Illinois Railroad Museum in Union, IL back in 2016. Last year I visited that railroad museum near Chicago with my cousin and her kids and husband. While visiting my cousin, and when I was staying at their house, but downstairs in the guest bedroom, I could hear the train sets locomotive train horn blown by my cousins kid upstairs. My cousin doesn't know how to operate the numbers on the DCC sound controller on the train set, but my cousins kid knows how to operate the train from that control with the numbers, hahaha haha. The number 1 button is the bell, the number 2 button is the full blast of the horn, and the number 3 button is the short toot of the horn, the number 8 button is the no sound operation of the train, the number 10 button is the headlight. Their DCC control doesn't have the on and off switch in the back, well my does have the on and off switch in the back off the DCC control. They ride on METRA the Commuter rail sometimes between Morton Grove to Fox Lake or down to Chicago on that Milwaukee North District commuter rail train line. My cousin and her kids and husband live only 3 minutes by car, away from the Morton Grove train station. I know her Kids would love to ride on the subway trains in New York City and maybe Boston too.- Allen

Hey! So when I was a kid my dad brought me to McDonald ave to buy a #1563W Wabash Freight set. Years later during this quarantine. I’ve been staying with my parents and I opened up this box hopefully being able to at last get into this hobby. But over the years things go missing, I do have 4 trains and some tracks and a box that has fuses on it. But nothing else. Any suggestions?

I Allen think that buying model trains seem much cheaper then buying them super expensive UGG and Jordan footwear. People tell me your trains are so very expensive, so bid, I Allen like and love model trains and I grew up on model trains and that's my really fun hobby since I was a very young boy growing up in Queens in NYC, NY. UGG and Jordan footwear are between normally $150-350 and won't last long, unlike model trains that can last over 50 years. My Athearn Conrail SD45 model HO scale engine number 6127 is almost 21 years old is how long I owned it for, nearly 21 years. I bought some of my trains at The Great Train Store before they closed down all stores they had closed for good when they ran out of business back in like 2000-01. Back in 2014 I bought my first Lionel Santa Fe Super Chief train set only $319.00 with the CW80 transformer, and people though that Lionel train set was so very expensive. I understand some people only love to waist hundreds of bucks on really pricey UGG and Jordan footwear, well not me. I don't mind spending hundreds of bucks on model trains as long as I have the money. Back in 2017 I bought the Lionel Lion Chief Amtrak train set for only almost $322 and that was not so expensive, and why would I Allen spend like $350 on 2 pairs of UGG or Jordan footwear that can wear out fast if worn so much like everyday. I Allen have been collecting model trains since like 1999. I have 4 O scale train sets. And I own 72 HO scale model locomotive train engines, and many are Amtrak and commuter rail train engines as models I own. Living in Queens, NYC really made me to like and love trains. My cousin in Chicago, IL likes the train set that I Allen bought from you Ken, for her kids. Her kids love trains too. I'm not a very big fan of Boston, MA trains. I really like New York City and Chicago based trains the like best. Some people only like Boston and Los Angeles and Tokyo and San Francisco based trains. I rode on Commuter rail trains in Boston and Chicago and San Francisco before. My dad rode on a super fast bullet train in Tokyo, Japan back in 1995. I was in Seoul, South Korea during a family reunion in late 2018 and I rode on the Seoul Subway trains. Back in like 2001 I rode on Amtrak on their trains from Boston, MA North Station from and to Portland, ME. I rode on Amtrak across the USA from Boston, MA to San Jose, CA via Albany, NY and Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA the long 1 way by Amtrak trains and that was fun, back in early 2006.- Allen
