A friend told me she remembered Arnel singing in a bar in HongKong decades ago when Arnel was probably in his 20’s? the bar was always jammed packed and overflowing with audience to watch and listen to him sing. And those American Navy personnel based in the Philippines who used to frequent the bar where Arnel used to sing because they thought he sounded so authentic to them. Even then people recognised his talent.
Journey was fortunate to find Arnel. Because of him, he has given Journey literally a new voice on life and introduced the band to a new generation of fans. Steve Perry will always be the voice of Journey, but Arnel is an awesome vocalist who is helping to carry the "Journey" on.

SAME HERE! I never heard anyone who sing as great as Pineda live. To think I've been to loads of other concerts & music festivals. His voice is so pure, no auto tune or whatsoever.
in our country, it is not just the singers who could sing like the original but also the musicians will do their best to sound like the original musicians of the song they cover. Pilipino audience will frown at a band who can't do that.
Imagine singing like that and getting a small round of applause from an empty room. That's the reality for some very good bands no matter how talented. I know.
Arnel has a voice like Steve Perry had in the late 80's/90's and Journey is so lucky to have found him. He is absolutely amazing. I think he sounds better here than he does singing with Journey. Talent like this doesn't come around often, I'm glad Arnel has hit the bit time - he deserves it!

Arnel was destined to be successful, & an instrument of good will & charity. The only reason it came so late in life was the lessons & pain that made him a very humble & obedient servant of his Lord and Master.
The haters don't seem to live in the real world. Journey is a brand name just like Apple or Ford. Whether a product is made in China or USA it's still a product. With Arnel it's a breath of reviving air for a dying brand or if you prefer "band". It's a good move that they didn't go for another white singer because no one would book them. Arnel was a perfect choice, people would love see what he can and can't do. I would pay to see this band in concert.

Who would have thought at that time he will be singing this song as Journey’s frontman for the next 15 years and counting, at least 800 concerts to thousands of people each show. And he could be the last Journey frontman standing. He is best! I listen to his songs all the time. And time seems not enough.

The haters don't seem to live in the real world. Journey is a brand name just like Apple or Ford. Whether a product is made in China or USA it's still a product. With Arnel it's a breath of reviving air for a dying brand or if you prefer "band". It's a good move that they didn't go for another white singer because no one would book them. Arnel was a perfect choice, people would love see what he can and can't do. I would pay to see this band in concert.

And beyond that, there are probably only a handful of people living in the world at any one time who have this level of skill. There just isn't a surplus of guys of this caliber available in the US. Maybe a couple, but finding them is hard. There are only going to be a few dotted in random places across the globe.

Once I saw Arnel Pineda on TV, I have been hooked. I just love listening to him and Journey. What an amazing performance and I am happy for Arnel and the band Journey.
Arnel was recruited into the band not because mimics Perry & sing like Perry, but because he possesses a tenor legacy sound that fans would love.
Over a decade, AP has shown his versatility and singing prowess not only into SP's signature songs but journey's new compositions... filling stadiums & tickets sold out.

Steve Perry had a softer emotional tone to his rendition. Arnel has a powerful and higher pitched voice and a slight almost undecipherable tone/accent. Really nice to listen to the range and richness of his high notes.

Steve's voice does go thin up high whereas Arnel's keeps its power. His style reminds me a lot of Floor Jansen in Nightwish.

The worst thing for an artist of any type of arts is for people to have no opinion at at. For instance Hollywood deems a movie successful if just as many people leave the theater hating the film as do loving it. It still get's people talking. This guys is awesome. The best Journey could have ever come up with to replace Steve. I guess the haters would have rather Journey never gotten back together. But the fact that many people hate as well as love this guy...that's success !!
