I can assure you that if he wasn't worthy of taking this gig it would have never been offered to him. Honestly, I don't think even Steve could do what Arnel is doing now. Singing those high notes with power is a young man's game. I salute Arnel. Don't stop believin' brother!

I think this was the very same set that the US Consul saw before he met Arnel in the embassy the next Monday. The consul who was very amazed of his voice's range and almost Steve Perry-like. I read that the US Consul who approved Arnel Pineda's visa asked him "hey do you guys perform in Bagaberde"? When I read that, I thought where in the world is Bagaberde? It's only now I answered my own question:) The board behind Pineda flashes the name haha. Yeah it must be some fate for Journey and Arnel Pineda to get together.
He has an amazing voice and anyone who is a hater are jealous of his success. His voice has been like that eversince since he started & actually even gotten better. While most prominent vocalists couldn't sing their own songs in the original key anymore or their throat is not just at its best anymore, Arnel has honed & mastered & perfected his vocal techniques/skills over the years. And only God-gifted talents with good intentions like him can do that. He is indeed 1 in a billion.

A friend told me she remembered Arnel singing in a bar in HongKong decades ago when Arnel was probably in his 20’s? the bar was always jammed packed and overflowing with audience to watch and listen to him sing. And those American Navy personnel based in the Philippines who used to frequent the bar where Arnel used to sing because they thought he sounded so authentic to them. Even then people recognised his talent.
I think both men are equally amazing people. While it's true that Steve Perry made the face of Journey, I think Arnel has done a great job keeping the music alive. While I prefer to listen to Perry, I don't have a problem listening to Pineda. It's Randy Jackson that I wish would shut up! :)

When Sammy Hagar joined the band in place of David, does anyone recall Eddie and Alex having Sammy re-record a single song from the DLR era? When VH had Sammy as a new singer they took an entirely new direction; opposite end of the spectrum, really.
I can't wait to buy my ticket when these guys roll thru California. I grew up listening to Journey, and it will be interesting to see how they play, and I am sure I'll be buying the new album, too. I hope they can find a way to mix in some of Arnel's original material too (he has major label recordings going back to the late 1990's -- check out his page on Wikipedia).

Perryfans will probably never have the pleasure to enjoy a new album from Nostrildamus but Journeyfans still have the chance to hear a new album with Arnel,Neal,Deen,Ross and Jon and they still are Journey.
Arnel can sing Survivor, Air Supply, Led Zeppelin, Journey, etc. etc. There's no point comparing him to Steve Perry because he can sing various artists. The most important thing is that the Journey band members got him for the job of Lead Vocals over all other candidates. And he's doing a great job of it.
He's more comfortable in a concert venue; probably nervous because he knows he's under the scrutiny of millions of US audience. His first US TV show so understandably he would be nervous, but he did extremely well under the circumstances. Like Jonathan Cain said, he's a "clutch" player...and Journey needs him now to win over the naysayers.

I think both men are equally amazing people. While it's true that Steve Perry made the face of Journey, I think Arnel has done a great job keeping the music alive. While I prefer to listen to Perry, I don't have a problem listening to Pineda. It's Randy Jackson that I wish would shut up! :)

When VH had Sammy as a new singer they took an entirely new direction; opposite end of the spectrum, really.

I can't wait to buy my ticket when these guys roll thru California. I grew up listening to Journey, and it will be interesting to see how they play, and I am sure I'll be buying the new album, too. I hope they can find a way to mix in some of Arnel's original material too (he has major label recordings going back to the late 1990's -- check out his page on Wikipedia).

You should know by now that Journey is Neal Schon...he was there when it started and he is there when it ends.
Perryfans will probably never have the pleasure to enjoy a new album from Nostrildamus but Journeyfans still have the chance to hear a new album with Arnel,Neal,Deen,Ross and Jon and they still are Journey.
Arnel can sing Survivor, Air Supply, Led Zeppelin, Journey, etc. etc. There's no point comparing him to Steve Perry because he can sing various artists. The most important thing is that the Journey band members got him for the job of Lead Vocals over all other candidates. And he's doing a great job of it.
Congrats to him. He deserves Journey. What a great voice he'll bring to the band.

He's more comfortable in a concert venue; probably nervous because he knows he's under the scrutiny of millions of US audience. His first US TV show so understandably he would be nervous, but he did extremely well under the circumstances. Like Jonathan Cain said, he's a "clutch" player...and Journey needs him now to win over the naysayers.
