  • Inspired by the AOPA Pilots Video and the article by Thomas A. Horne (AOPA Pilot Editor at Large) - "TBM Technique: Landing in Style Prop-Strike Prevention 101" we apply the real world aircraft configuration to the TBM930 in Flight Simulator. Just to make it interesting, we visit the world's lowest airfield located in Masada, Israel. Bar Yehuda Airfield (sometimes known as Masada Airfield) is a small desert airfield located in the southern Judean desert, west of the Dead Sea. The runway sits at an elevation of -394 meters/-1292 feet below sea level!

    Nice landing and video!
I haven't flown the TBM since they updated they PFD and MFD. The screens are so much easier to read now. It makes a huge difference!
You should consider doing a RTWT (Round the World Tour). I've done it twice now with one of the tours done in the TBM. Great aircraft and fun to fly. If you need a spreadsheet to help plot your course around the world I have one available. Hit me up for it. It could save you some time. 95% of the flights were possible via fuel capacity. Those extra 5% had unlimited fuel turned on. It was time to head home! It takes about a month and a half to accomplish.

Thanks for the visit and commentary! The TBM is certainly a pleasing aircraft to fly. Very predictable and smooth. A RTWT is on my bucket list when the right time arrives. I have made a note of your contact! Thanks and blue skies!

The picture shows that it is safe to touch the runway with a nose angle above 3 degrees. And when landing, the angle is lower. Or is there something I don't understand?

The essential component is to have the mains touch down first. The angle can be lower providing the main gear touch first. Thanks for watching!
