All the people giving negative comments on this plug in are determining it by looks, please use it and give your comments, its awesome. You should listen to how these LFo's work, i mean its just is so analog.
It doesn´t Massive is not modeled after a specific analogue synth.Massivi is a purely digital synth based on wavetable synthesis,it is not an additive/subtractive synthesizer like sylenth,Diva and so on. If you prefer more digital, modern dubsteppy, quirky sounds, just take massive, as it offers more modulation possibilities compared to this one. However Massive is not more difficult to use than Element, because it is a whole different kind of synthesis.
i must agree - we need to continue trying - one day we will get there - it sounds ridicullous to spend 20 years of research and 6-core processors to emulate hardware from 1980s - but thats the whole paradox of analog vs. digital - look at vynil LPs, celuloid 35mm film - every industry is torn between the digital vs analog paradox...the reason we should keep on trying is that vintage gear is getting sparse and costs 1000USD+ one day these machines will eventually dissapear by lack of spare parts
I think the GUI is very neat. One of the most comprehensive synth GUI's I have ever seen. Everything fits on one screen and the position of the different sections all make sense. The sound isn't bad either.
in build quality or sound? The microkorg has the same engine as the MS2000 which I always thought held it's own alongside the JP8000 and the yamaha CS series as far as sound goes. The microkorg does look like a toy compared to a MS2000 though...
I agree. It's because there mastering stuff is in the upper echelon of everything available w/out using $100,000. hardware consoles etc.. so people might think the same of ANYthing they put out. While I do think it's very usable from this demo. I do agree that there are plenty of vst synths that currently are superior in every way. I do think they will get it, and when they do the stuff will be held in the same regard as their current mastering software. Possible Waves vst takeover???
So did I! I'm finding the gated presets to be pretty nice. Some of the other things I feel are not worth the original list price of US$200 though. But $39 is pretty cheap for 10 or 20 great presets. I'll keep digging into this plug-in! Cheers =)
I just got this plugin!! It's awesome...so far. I have videos posted with music i've done, but none of them contain this instrument yet. Subscribe and I will be posting more music soon. Give me some ideas to create, I appreciate the feedback. Peace.
Having recently got this on sale, I've used this a few times already in music. The main issue I have is the cpu load it requires. It requires more than NI Razor at times even. Having said that, it sounds really nice and sequencer is very nice and easy to work with. It doesn't really bring anything new but it was on sale and I've used it so I can't really complain.
Like the features. I've been using this since release but the sound is a bit sterile IMO. Although I could see how microkorg users might really like this. Diva is still my thing for subtractive. ACE is great too. Both have something that make me take notice. They jump out of my speakers. But the design of Elements is great for coming up with sounds quickly and easily.
For the price they have when not on sale, I would say you're paying more for the brand than the synth itself; however, if you can get it on sale, it can be a workhorse at the same time (provided your computer's fast enough ;))
They appear to be going after the Sylenth1 market. Sylenth1 has oscillators that are hung like your typical black movie star. I'm sure Waves has the know how to get us into that ballpark. So the real question is what else does it do? That will depend heavily on it's modulation routing. Just looking at the GUI, I didn't see any hit of revolutionary routing, which makes it a "normal" synth by my made up standards. If so, that's HIGHLY disappointing as there are 10,000 normal synths out there.
Dude... I really love the old 80s synths. Cant afford a real hardware one but have the Arturia Jupiter 8 and that kinda plugins. That being said.... the pads on this synth.. DAMMNNN sound way better than the Jupiter from Arturia when it comes to gritty filthy analog sounds.. ONE BIG TIP. Get the Vogue plug in from SugarBytes.. I know a lot of yall will say or think its a crappy manufacter but trust me.... its a plugin designed to get that filthy 80s sound. With the Vogue sitting on the Element.. trust me..sounds fukkin crazy!!!
more just highlighting that that the microkorg is VA and a lot of vsts sound better. i do like 2000s actually but i dont think they sound all that great. i just thought janos first comment was insane,,,
Very good review but element itself is beyond boring. How many "analog" plugins do people need? They all share the same flatness, no matter what cpu-hogging tricks developers can come up with..
Waves, as usual, is appealing toward the need-to-be-vintage crowd with the "simple" design as they call it. Their dogging of Massive with the implication of "endless pages of menus" is laughable as those pages of menus are 50% of what makes Massive so special. (The other is the ability to modulate anything and everything with a single knob.Intimidating newbies is the best way to keep 'em starving. The long term rarely seems to be of interest.
i was thinking it sounded a bit thin and digital before i read H4NDCRAFTED below save your dosh and get Diva or Ace u-he , there the best sounding vst,s i have herd as yet i bought them booth and they blow this Waves Element thing,y out of the running totally,,sorry but it is the truth,,

It's great . Dunno why people comment on the interface / aesthetics - nothing's perfect
Very nice !!!!!
It doesn´t

Very nicely done, Russ. Great review.
Can't find the demo, could someone post a link?
I got mine Yesterday. OMG HITS AFTER HITS

The sound isn't bad either.
Badly needs an update come on waves.
Hey Pro Tools Expert I don't see any way to assign a midi controller (potentiometer) to anything - no midi learn button on element?
relate Right mouse click, move MIDI control, done.

Sounds good to me, no matter would it be analog'ish or not.
Great Analog Sound, great Synth!!! and very simply
Cant assign midi ??
Help anybody ??
Using in stand-alone and PT none of the normal learn or assign commands working
Any ideas ?

Cost?
I'm not sure its has Analog sound. Definitely VA, with good bass, but analog?
demoing the past hour, I think it sounds great. The FX section is wicked as well.
what are the best soft synths as of now you think?

The problem is not if it can play better but that it can play DIFFERENT.
I do like this synth. It's very easy to use and has a great sound bank.

Analog? me think not.Thanx 4 the demo though.
i like it i will buy it when i have the funds, thank you and have a nice day.
Where is the pitch bend range on this damn thing?
@heppareppana so true

Reminds me of Propellerhead Thor Synth
that "died in your arms" preset reminds me of a clockwork orange :D
Analog modeling has been so improved that professional musicians still use old analog Synths...
The PWM sounds very close to an SH101.
Thank you. Waves owes you $99.99 for convincing me to buy this.
there is no need to be a chiken just to sort out an egg
I also disagree, we are closer to "true" replication of the analog sound more so than ever now.
more just highlighting that that the microkorg is VA and a lot of vsts sound better. i do like 2000s actually but i dont think they sound all that great. i just thought janos first comment was insane,,,
Deadmau5's new toy?

great vid but I wouldn't pay one cent for this

Just bought this, it has a really nice filter, the unison is utter rubbish. And sounds super weak.
i was thinking it sounded a bit thin and digital before i read H4NDCRAFTED below

sylenth is better
Hmmm. After decades with synths both analog and VA, I can safely state that this is painfully brittle digital and also quite thin.
