  • In this video we will talk about Pap smears and HPV infection.
    We will talk about how a Pap smear and a HPV DNA PCR is performed and which results to expect. We will talk about the Bethesda classification system, what the different results indicate and which follow - ups and treatment are appropriate for the different results.
    Negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy
    Atypical Squamous cells of undetermined significance
    Low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion
    High grade squamous intraepithelial lesion
    Squamous cell carcinoma
    We will also talk about HPV strains, vaccines for boys and girls and their importance.
    We will talk about cervical biopsy, how it is performed, the significance of iodine and vinegar staining, and which results are possible from a cervical biopsy.
    We will also talk about conization (cone biopsy), how this treatment is performed and which risks are associated with it.
    We will also talk about the factors that contribute to a persistence or progression of a cervical dysplasia.

    Great video! My thin prep results is only showing the word “report” by the “value” category. I got the test done on 6/19/23 and my doctor office has not called to explain what that means. Not sure if this is bad or good
