If we do a points earned out of total possible points (PE/PP) ratio using the current numbers, it should give us a pretty good idea of the standings in the Pacific Division with uneven amounts of games played. To provide some additional perspective, I will put each team's projected cap hit from Puckpedia beside their PE/PP ratio. VGK: 0.650 ($86.82M), Calgary: 0.625 ($69.25M), LAK: 0.575 ($89.55M), Edmonton 0.524 ($89.06M), Van 0.583 ($87.45M), SEA: 0.525 ($89.52M), ANA: 0.500 ($68.81M), SJS: 0.386 ($82.14M), COL: 0.550 ($93.98M) (I threw Colorado in there because they currently have the wildcard spot in the Central Division.) From these data you can clearly see who is getting the best value per dollar spent on player salaries (Calgary by FAR!) and who is getting the worst value (San Jose by FAR!). Colorado is currently not getting good value for their cap hit either. The only team with a higher projected cap hit than Colorado is Washington with a shocking projected cap hit of $101.46M. Their PE/PP ratio is 0.711 and they are in third in the Metropolitan currently. I think these data make it pretty clear that right now Calgary is getting by far the best value for their cap hit than any other team in the league except for maybe Winnipeg (0.842 @ $85.39M). Conny is clearly kicking butt and doing a fantastic job!! 😁👍This should get any Flames fan stoked. Also note that Calgary is currently 3 points ahead of Edmonton and Edmonton has played one more game than Calgary has and Vancouver is only one point behind Edmonton but has 3 games in hand to Edmonton and 2 games in hand to Calgary.
Watching the channel grow is tight. I'm an old goalie so I comment mostly on goaltending stuff lol. I don't understand the need to trade Vladdy. He is more valuable as our backup than as a trade asset so they should just extend him. There should not be this rush to trade him IMO. Huby is a more interesting trade asset, I'm sure they could sow their trade oats on that guy.
The only thing making the Vladdy trade an option is how damn well Cooley is doing in the AHL. Three good goalies is a nice problem to have Vladdys awesome. But it depends if a team are willing to give us something we need in exchange for help in net. Not that I think there are tons of big holes in our lines save maybe centre depth
@@duncan4260 Cooley has to get a look at some point. He has been amazing on the Wranglers. They need to see what they have in him and then trade Vladar if they think Cooley can play at the NHL level.
Really liked the Backlund-Coronato-Sharky line last night. I hope they can keep it going. Coach made a smart move splitting up Backs and Coleman. They improve any line that isn't a pure scoring line. Weegs, three assists and -1. Ouch. I don't think we are going to see a tank-job now. Thanks a lot Wolfie. lol Ahhhh ooooo.
@@jerryjay-vv6wu I just re-read the box scores and he is listed at -1. Go look if you like. But he was actually on for two even strength against and two even strength and one PP for. So he should have been even.
in defence of our offence, 99% of other goalies in the league would have let in at least 5 that game, the boys did what they needed to do almost the entire game (including only taking one penalty) and it really looks like we're getting better at creating space for great cross ice one timers!!! given how sturdy our defence and goaltending is im not too worried about our scoring, eventually the work the players and coaching staff are putting in will payout!!
Although it is necessary to dump and chase in some games. Your nose ends up facing the boards where it is hard to score. With their skill players we do not need to do this as much as we have. I love Huska and know he will solve this problem. Scoring will come.
With wolf leading the pack from the back, the d lines work well with him but your right our offence needs more goals. Other then that I don't ask how many I ask for the win.. points win games defence wins championships...
our defence makes few mistakes making our goaltenders jobs easier. love the up tempo game the offence is playing just coming at the opposition wave after wave. the big two of huberdeau and kadri are pretty well nonexistent but balanced scoring is great.happy for zary as he was all over the offensive zone. thought kuzmenko played a good game and hopefully it carries on in the future. wolf was again solid.
I like Darth Valdar, if the Flames can get something decent for him though. Huby has 500 assists and hit that milestone with the Flames. Don’t want to see him traded to another team, and he starts producing again! The right players around him, he’ll start producing again! He’s not the only player who’s missed an empty net! Go Flames Go!!!
Currently between the 2 Albertan teams the Flames have been more exciting to watch than the Oilers and I even know some Oilers fans that have been watching more Flames games than Oilers games as of lately
Awoo!! These wins are cool but I'm all in for McKenna and the Flames tank. Maybe they can make the playoffs but 16 wins is another story. No team has won a Cup in the salary cap era without a lottery pick leading the charge (apart from the Blues). Elite 1Cs don't grow on trees, theyre drafted 1, 2, or 3s.
@FlamesDigest I'd like to see the Flames sell, but keep character and culture in the room along the way. You can't win without bottoming out, but first overall picks aren't a guarantee if get lost in Buffalo Desert without veteran leadership in the room to guide you back out. I'd look to sell on Kuzmenko and Andersson, but keep some of the Cup winners like Kadri and Coleman around. Huberdeau can hopefully be a mentor for younger players because he's not going anywhere, and Backlund is the perfect captain for this phase of the team. Does for the Flames what the Hawks hoped they'd get from Foligno. Vladar made Daily Faceoff's trade board, maybe he makes sense to deal for a pick if you like Cooley for the NHL, but this return probably doesn't move the needle too far either way. We're building a new Dome, let's build a winner to play inside it.
I'm getting the impression that hockey games are becoming goalie games. Bothers me that they try to pin forwards for a lack of goals. Even Stamkos couldn't score the other day. 8 million dollar contract.
Huberdeau's missing an empty net and hitting the post from less than 20 feet away was inexcusable and really illustrates a) what a bust he's been; and b) how grossly overpaid he is. If you get paid $10M per year you put the puck in the empty net from 20 feet away EVERY TIME because that's your damn job that you're paid handsomely to do!!! Do your damn job, Huberdeau!! 🤬 Even I could've made that shot and I'm a sh*tty hockey player.
Hilarious. Open net at how much millions he's making? My gawd. Lmao. Some of these big earners need to pitch in. IL blame them, if the Flames start faltering. The new young guys aren't playing shameful hockey on the big show. Good game Dusty.

If the whole team wants to stay id resign them all. They all play really well together and seem like a solid team. Trade nobody.

Unlike the Coilers, Penguins, Blackhawks etc etc …The Flames have never tanked and aren’t going to start now
how do you score 3 assists in a 3-2 game and still come out -1? (+/- Weegar)
How does Weegar have 3 assists, in a 3-2 game... and a plus minus of -1?
Okay I thought it was only me that hated Fox lol f that guy. Love your show man.
