    ● The importance of not sleeping in and avoiding sleep inertia, which can lead to cognitive impairment and reduced physical performance.
    ● The benefits of extending fasting time by waiting an hour or more after waking up before eating.
    ● The importance of oral health and its connection to gut health, with Dr. Lee sharing his habit of brushing his teeth and taking care of his gums.
    ● The benefits of drinking espresso, specifically medium-roast coffee, which contains high levels of chlorogenic acid, a polyphenol that can help with metabolism, circulation, and antioxidant properties.
    ● The importance of not adding dairy or sugar to coffee, as it can trap polyphenols and reduce their absorption.
    ● The benefits of eating nuts, specifically tree nuts, which can help slow down cellular aging, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, and provide dietary fiber.
    ● The importance of gut health and the benefits of eating yogurt, specifically whole-fat yogurt, which contains probiotics and can help feed good bacteria in the gut.
    ● The benefits of eating seasonal fruit, such as peaches and pears, which can provide natural sweetness and dietary fiber.
Additionally, Dr. Lee mentions that he usually has a light breakfast, which may include yogurt with nuts and fruit, and that he tries to stay organized and calm in the morning to reduce stress levels.
    ● Oranges: Specifically, eating one orange as a sufficient amount, and the benefits of oranges, such as dietary fiber, vitamin C, and bioactives like narin and hesperidin.
    ● Eggs: Mentioned as an occasional breakfast food, but not a regular part of the speaker's diet.
    ● Bagels: Excluded from the speaker's breakfast options.
    ● Toast: Also excluded from the speaker's breakfast options.
    ● Sausage: Not part of the speaker's breakfast diet.
    ● Bacon: Not part of the speaker's breakfast diet.
    ● Coffee: Specifically, espresso, which is consumed without dairy or sugar to maximize polyphenol absorption.
    ● Pomegranate juice: Consumed in moderation (one cup, 8 fluid ounces) for its benefits to the gut microbiome and specific bacteria like Akkermansia muciniphila. Good for cancer patients.
    ● Cranberry juice: Mentioned as an alternative to pomegranate juice, with similar benefits, but noted to be sour and recommended without added sugar.
    ● Concord grape juice: Another alternative to pomegranate juice, with a unique taste and benefits to the gut microbiome.
    ● Yogurt: Specifically, whole-fat Greek yogurt, which is a probiotic and provides healthy bacteria to the gut.
    ● Nuts: Tree nuts, in general, are recommended as a snack, with benefits including dietary fiber, slowing cellular aging, reducing cardiovascular disease risk, and aiding metabolism. Almonds are specifically mentioned as a topping for yogurt.
    ● Dark chocolate: Mentioned as a potential topping for yogurt, with benefits from its polyphenols, but recommended in moderation.
    ● Peaches: Seasonal fruit, recommended as a topping for yogurt, providing natural sweetness and polyphenols.
    ● Pears: Another seasonal fruit, recommended as a topping for yogurt, providing dietary fiber and flavor.
    ● Honey: Mentioned as a natural sweetener with antimicrobial properties, recommended in moderation.
    ● Maple syrup: Recommended as a natural sweetener with polyphenols, but in moderation due to its sugar content. It has anti-angiogenic or cancer-starving molecules that can improve circulation
    Health advice:
    ● Start the day without stress: Avoid sleeping in and get out of bed quickly to avoid sleep inertia, which can lead to cognitive impairment, difficulty in moving, and reduced reaction time and memory.
    ● Extend fasting time: Delay eating breakfast to extend the fasting period, which can help burn fat, slow down cellular aging, and lower inflammation in the body.
    ● Drink coffee without dairy: Avoid adding dairy or cream to coffee, as the dairy fat can form soap bubbles that trap polyphenols, making them unavailable for absorption.
    ● Eat yogurt with nuts: Have whole-fat yogurt with nuts, such as almonds or walnuts, for a healthy breakfast that provides fiber, protein, and healthy fats.
    ● Use natural sweeteners: Use natural sweeteners like maple syrup or honey instead of refined sugars, as they contain polyphenols and other beneficial compounds.
    ● Drink pomegranate juice: Drink one cup of pomegranate juice per day, as it contains tannins that can help grow beneficial gut bacteria and reduce inflammation.
    ● Snack on nuts: Snack on nuts, such as almonds or walnuts, as they are rich in fiber, protein, and healthy fats, and can help slow down cellular aging and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
    ● Practice good oral hygiene: Brush and floss teeth regularly to remove bad bacteria and maintain good gut health, which is linked to brain health and longevity.
    ● Stretch regularly: Stretch regularly to keep muscles flexible, strong, and limber, and to reduce the risk of falling.
    ● Avoid acidic foods and drinks: Avoid or limit acidic foods and drinks, such as soda or lemonade, as they can erode tooth enamel and disrupt the balance of gut bacteria.
    ● Consider taking apple cider vinegar: Consider taking apple cider vinegar, diluted with water, as it may help turn on brown fat to burn down harmful visceral fat and improve metabolism.
    ● Eat foods that activate the body's five health defense systems: Eat foods that activate the body's five health defense systems, including angiogenesis, regeneration, gut microbiome, DNA protection, and immunity, to maintain overall health and well-being.

I get up and take a long walk (40 to 60 minutes). I shower and then have my coffee. I typically do not eat for at least 3 to 4 hours after waking up. I believe in fasting, which when I grew up just meant staying out of the kitchen after dinner. I recently read an article that is now coming out against fasting and saying it causes heart problems. What????? This makes no sense to me.

We often talk about the Mediterranean or Asian diet as the healthiest diets but what about the Mediterranean and Asian lifestyles? We don’t hear as much about that. They also live a more enjoyable, family based, spiritual, hard working, lifestyle; where walking and riding a bike is a common means of getting about and probably coupled with much less stress and less focus on making money and keeping up with the Jones.
My guess is they also suffer a lot lower percentages of anxiety, depression, obesity, heart disease and cancer rates and deaths from heart disease and cancer.

He also does 3-day fasts, where he only drinks tea, coffee and water, but he does have some gut issues. I'm wondering if this could be related to autophagy, where very hungry bacteria could be eating the gut lining and creating holes. 🕳🤔

    • @sarahsnowe
      @sarahsnowe 2 месяца назад

Not everything is in plastic. You can still buy lots of things in glass jars. But mostly it's important not to heat anything in plastic (and that includes running plastic stuff through the dishwasher, which degrades the plastic). If you buy bulk stuff at the store (e.g. lentils), the plastic bag you use is unlikely to put any microplastics into it for the short time it's in the bag--but you can also get thin cloth bags. Store stuff in old jars. Never buy water in plastic bottles---chemicals have leached into it.

I checked most of low fat yogurts and they all contain emulsifiers, at least in my country , not US. This info lets us buy and choose well informed.. Free choice..

You don't specify organic yogurt which is sad to me. You are encouraging eating yogurt made from cows obviously that come from CFAO cruel environments that are loaded with antibiotics and God knows what else. Also, these cows are not grass fed. So this whole commercial yogurt consumption is really unhealthy. Please, if you will, comment on this. Thank you

Totally wrong on low-fat and non-fat yogurt. They are not processed to remove the fat; they are made from non-fat or low-fat milk in the first place. Just look at the ingredients label.
