    Why didnt I find this guy years ago! At 55 years old, I feel like I have a new lease on life. I felt like an old man until I stopped eating carbs for breakfast and lunch.

      BandB1111111 Carbs are critical to your health, your bodies cells run on glucose. Eating animals is what causes disease not fruits and vegetables, Dr Attia is very deceitful...

    • @drb4074
      @drb4074 7 лет назад +5

      You mean the glucose your body produces on it's own through converting proteins or fats as needed? Gluconeogenesis? Is that what you mean for "running on glucose"?
      Or perhaps you mean that even on extended fasting (over 30 days) to put a body into ketosis (fat burning), that measurements at the end of the fast *still* show glucose in the system and that it is being used by the brain for about 40-50% of it's energy (the rest comprised of ketones)?
      Critical.

    Meditation - consistency is key. "It's since become an instrumental part of my life." ; Elemental agents such as lithium and phosphatidylserine has become a remarkable sleep agent. Cortisol drives up glucose.

    I was first introduced to Dr. Attia on his TED talk. I still listen to it periodically because it makes such great sense and I am using his points on diabetes and its causes in a book I'm writing. If only the greater part of the medical establishment made as much sense as Attia!

      Just eat what makes you happy, most of the time educated people don't know any more than someone like myself who quit school at 15. I am 76, no medication, I take a B12, and just started taking a D until summer comes, I was watching dr, Cywes who is in Florida he has been on many diets, now he is a carnivore now, I can see him collapsing from a heart attack like dr. Atkins down the road. We know how to eat if we chose to do so. These people are are always talking about the blue zones.. these people work from morning till its time to go to bed. This is what these drs don't understand, my friend just died at 104 in the carribean there were 7 people who were over 100 last year. Take everything g with a grain of salt

    I am still quite confused about food items and how they impact us. I travel for a living and often find myself in Asian countries where I have noticed, first hand, what they consume at meal time. Often it's small amounts of fatty animal protein always included is an egg. Small amount of white rice and two to three small plates of veggies. The veggies are very diverse: burdock, spinach, mushrooms of all type, seaweeds of all types, sweet potato, and many others. They consume large bowls of PORK broth soups with noodles and veggies and a small amount of animal protein. They eat 4-5 times a day and they consume maybe one sweet a day, usually in the am with PORK buns, or bean buns etc. my question is; why are they not suffering from the fat/insulin/diabetes problems we r having here in the USA. I must add that in all Asian countries walking is a required activity if you need to get from point A to B. Cars are not an effective choice bc of the traffic.

      Your perception of diabetes rates in Asia is inaccurate. It does vary widely from country to country, but diabetes is exploding in nations such as China & India. What may be misleading is that many people are "skinny fat" so they don't show obesity as a visual marker of diabetes. If you read the article Thales linked to you will see the following data:
      1) The last three decades have witnessed an epidemic rise in the number of people with diabetes, especially type 2 diabetes, and particularly in developing countries, where more than 80% of the people with diabetes live.
      2) The rise of type 2 diabetes in South Asia is estimated to be more than 150% between 2000 and 2035.
      3) More than 60% of the people with diabetes live in Asia, with almost one-half in China and India combined.

    • @NEMO-NEMO
      @NEMO-NEMO 2 года назад

      @@debraengland3827 alright, I can see the statistics but can you share with me the reasons?
      The rise of our diabetes in the USA, has a lot to do with processed foods being altered with lots of sugar /fat/salty in a scientific manner that has food being consumed even when the person is not hungry. IOW an addiction.
      I lived in many an Asian country when I in the military, and I did not see the general public eating in fast food pls es like ours but instead food stalls where real food was being made.
      What has attributed to the rise in diabetes in Asian countries?
      Is it the establishment of American fast foods?
      Thank you

  • @NEMO-NEMO
    @NEMO-NEMO 7 лет назад +1

    I also notice in Asian countries, the food you eat out of the house is REAL FOOD, not fast food, not processed foods but real cooking with fresh ingredients and nothing frozen or heated up in a microwave. Meat is being roasted or baked, steamed, or stewed right in front of you. Broths are made from scratch and sit in large kettles ready to be used. Fish is still swimming when u order seafood. Rice is prepared fresh everyday and so are noodles. I think there is something to this Asian logic.

      +Jollo Jakar Their recent study showed that there is no advantage for a Ketogenic diet for weight loss, so the carbohydrate-insulin hypothesis failed.

    • @KevinCrowley
      @KevinCrowley 8 лет назад +8

      +The Art of Healthiness I don't think that's why. Weight loss is a tertiary benefit of ketogenesis and Atria and many others have achieved weight loss targets through ketogenesis. I doubt the carbohydrate-insulin theory has failed.

    Ok so I live longer & healthier, maybe. What is the purpose of that life?

    • @sovereign775
      @sovereign775 4 года назад

      Hey Brian, I am a 4th year med student and how pondered the fact that some individuals may ask this question. I believe context is important meaning what is important for YOU. For individuals like me who want to be athletic and do most activities I would like to do outdoors then optimizing health is key. If eating processed crap makes you happy and you could care less about getting chronic disease and having (to my perception) a lower quality life then who cares about optimizing health and longevity? It comes back to the individual. My philosophy in life is becoming the best version of myself and that means being disciplined and healthy. Does it mean I can't enjoy some processed crap here and there? No, but just like Jeff on AthleanX who has carrot cake once a year, health is much more important to me than the pleasure food may provide. So you just have to determine what is important for you and what your purpose is.

      sovereign775 hi, I’ve known Peter & his family a long time and while I know he does read these comments I hold out hope that maybe one day , in spite of his tremendously busy schedule, he’ll see it. I agree with you that we should all live healthy lives & look after the bodies we have been given. My point in stating “then what?” is a a reference to the eternal state of one’s soul. I’m a Christian so the important question for me isn’t ‘what happens after my life?” not “what’s the quality of my life in the short term?” .Life is very short and we’re all going to die no matter how well we look after our lives. I believe strongly in an active lifestyle & was involved in many sports until I had a serious brain Injury at 22. I’m 55 now and that’s a long time to be without the life I loved so much. I appreciate the medical profession so much as I’ve needed it in one form or another for over 30 years especially. I don’t understand what Pete is saying even though I don’t understand it. I like him a lot and he has one of the best laughs I’ve ever heard but few people see that. I wish you well. Thanks for writing to me.
