I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (September 25), we sang this as our opening hymn. It is #660 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
This in our Methodist hymnal and the congregation sang it after communion at our daughter's wedding. That's probably why it touches my heart every time I hear it played. God bless Di for her years of sharing God's word through her music.
Diane Bish is one of the finest hymn players. I think we need more organists with creative and musical sensitivity playing in our churches. Use of reeds on the swell and soloing our melody and nice smooth crescendo... Great job Ms. Diane.

Beautiful. Diane's sojurn throughout Austria, Switzerland and Bavaria and her encounters with those church organs are memorable. How she must have shivered in those unheated organ galleries but the music and holy places made it worthwhile.
