The unnamed ones don't have random loadouts. They have set builds in offline mode, and in online mode new builds are added whenever someone defeats them. (That player's build is added to a roster of sorts)

I also like the fire giant. The mechanics are dog shit but the spectacle,music and chaotic nature of the fight is just fun for me. My favorite fight was using the executioner axe and knocking him three times.
Malenia was the only boss I enjoyed every attempt on, normally I would try to kill myself if I die to a boss more than 50 times, but I actually enjoyed all 160 attempts of malenia and 6 hours wasted on her
And i spent 50hours+ on her alone on my lvl 1 run, and it was just fun the entire time. NOTHING provides a bigger hit of dopamine than PERFECTLY DODGING waterfowl with the circle strafe light equipload strat.
This was very well done! Malenia and king of puppet from lies of p are my favorite souls like bosses bc they’re good hard and satisfying. The joy I felt beating Malenia made me go back to when I first played a souls game. It’s so sad to beat her in lore bc she fought so hard not to become this servant to the rot but seeing her finally become that makes me cry. Her music shows how far she has fallen and I honestly just feel so bad for her.
I know im not the first one pointing this out, but if you count godfreys upgraded first phase as one phase, he would have 4 since he also has an upgraded second phase

She can then get up bock your attack and immediately go into waterfowl which is a move that you cannot expect a player to doge fully every time. If you like the fight you do but don’t say its coping for talking about actually problems

Every single boss has borderline bullshit mechanics one way or another her jus happen to be extra annoying because of lifesteal. I've had those exact things happen to me against her. I just don't think people saying she's a shit boss is valid because of a few tough mechanics. As you said to each there own and that's with no sarcasm I can understand why people may not enjoy it as much. It took me many many tries to get a clean win against her but I eventually went on to beat her solo with like 20 different builds. Between her ost, the arena and her actual player model I think it's an incredible fight
@@fattmo7217 It depends on the criteria you look at bosses with, I judge them mechanically first. Then everything else is a bonus, for me Melania is perfect in every aspect except mechanically. Kinda like ornstein and smough. When ever there is a move or bug that makes it not the players fault they got hit the fight quality diminishes. If they fix the poise and repost and make it so she leaps back away from you and then does waterfowl i think its perfect. The lifesteal is only annoying because she hits you, make it so every attack is fair then lifesteal is not a problem. But yeah its all subjective for enjoyment.

You never need to roll through Godskin Nobles rolling attack. Just sprint jump to the side once, then strafe to his side constantly and he cant catch you. He rolls as a cyclinder, not a sphere so he can't quickly. Based as fuck Godskin Duo enjoyer. Nerds on Reddit decided on release day that Godskin Duo was the worst boss ever made and everyone hopped on that bandwagon. I was the same for a long time, but its goated now.
Always fun to see a boss ranking take. Interesting that you mentioned multiple times that your perceptions of bosses changed over the playthroughs. About some of the 'bad' boss mechanics, for example twin Gargoyles and Commander Nial's adds, Elden Ring can have some pretty big gaps in how good these feel depending on how much you interact with the tools the game gives you. Obviously summoning is one, but there are so many powerful things in the game I think they expect the average player character to be quite strong. So a simple knight build is a very weak build compared to the expected character, which might have the damage to instantly vaporize Nialls adds, and not have to fight the Twin Gargs simultaneously for any length of time, if at all.
Great vid, loved the attention to the music. Imo Elden Ring has the best boss line up Fromsoft has put out so far, this ranking is not too different from mine and does a great job of showcasing all the bosses. (You went a lil too hard on Elden Beast though ngl, the fight could be better yes, but the music and atmosphere were a perfect ending)
Fire giant is actually really cool. It does have it’s problems, like the fire bouncing endlessly in the arena, but overall in my rl1 run I came to really appreciate this boss. First of all it’s really cool and unique, imo has one of the most innovative boss track (albeit not the best one)
Finally! Someone putting Malenia where she belongs. Also great to see that godskin duo is not last place. Valiant gargoyles are in all ways worse than godskin duo. Great ranking and video. Keep up the gpod work!
In last attempt of Malenia's boss fight i literal turn off music to hear sound of her move, i hate and love at the same time on this fight, 155 attempts and 4 hours of pain is worth it

oh, for Malikeths destined death slashy thing you you can tell when he’s going to do it. He’ll do it after jumping and landing on the sword (as long as you’re in front of him), and he’ll also do it after his weird cartwheel thing. To avoid it you can deadass just run towards him or dodge roll like twice to his tail. (He was my personal favorite)
If you learn beast clergyman its a really fun fight where your baiting his slashes because he will do the big overhead one afterwards where you get a big opening.
Malenia on 1st place is like ☠️☠️☠️ there is almost no fun fighting with her and its mainly focused on running away and looking for short window of time when you can attack
Fortissax's lighting strike only will trigger if you to under him its also clear er dragons are more made for spell users or ranged attacks whenever i fight any of them but placidusax i just use bolt of grannsax and using midir rules stay infront attack the head
Many of these fights could be made easier if people were actually using consumable items. For Example, in the Commander Niall fight, he summons two knights to fight you, but you can use bewitching branch to turn them against him, making it an easy fight.
Great list, however i think fire giant ost is really amazing to me! Also i think you got something wrong for mohg's lore, its the outer god "formless mother" who craves wounds.
I honestly love astel. His visuals and atmosphere is top notch and his gameplay feels very similar to the dancer from ds3 but with ranged attacks. All these slow attacks with quick windups and backhand slaps really made this one of my favorite bosses. It felt like what dancer could've been if she were a dlc boss

Bro I must've got favorable RNG cause when I fought the valiant gargoyles they did not gank up on me to where as long as I monitored my spacing I was able to kill one before getting bummed rushed by the other.
I think the only big thing wrong with ER Bosses is that they are designed with summons in mind so getting windows to actually land hits are few and far between
really? i find it manageable to play ER without summons and still get opportunities for counterattacks. The bosses are definitely harder though for sure
Quick tip about Niall that makes him much easier: There's an item that exists called a "Bewitching Branch", you can buy five of them from a Nomadic Merchant below the Bellum Church in Liurnia. Using a Bewitching Branch on one of the Banished Knights in Niall's first phase will make it aggro on either the other knight or Niall himself. Either way, a knight is guaranteed to die when they aggro onto Niall as he pretty much kills them instantly. This makes the first phase SO MUCH easier and it allows you to enjoy the amazing second phase :>
For Niall you just have to kill the very agressiv one (two sword men) and then you can hit Niall when the other one is a bit far away because he is way slower. It's the best strategy I think. Then midlife you have the second phase and it s done
24:12 I'm so glad someone else also appreciates how hard this music goes for the second phase of godrick, underrated ost, personally my favorite from elden ring. Also I enjoyed beating Astel Naturalborn of the Void especially because I was sevearly underleveled when fighting it. It was so rewarding and awesome to finnally defeat Astel, also I loved the visuals, just stunning (I might be biased since my favorite color is purple).
Midir unironically could 1v1 any dragon in FromSoft history and win. Bro is just built different and I don't think he'll ever be usurped as the best FromSoft dragon fight.
parrying only malenia is one of the best boss experiences you can have, tho its tough, once you get tha hang of the timings it just feels so good. Kinda like parrying in sekiro
I recently played through Elden ring again and tried to engage with the bosses more than my first playthrough and man the bosses are so much fun I also felt the exact same way about godskin duo with my recent playthrough although the nobles roll can be a bit buggy and stutter Sometimes also to dodge malikeths one slam move if he dose it normally you dodge back not forward and if his doing the air one you dodge towards him
@@_BlackenedSun you try to find where you can hit them during a combo mainly trying to find how to do charge attacks and get posture breaks you gotta be agressive. I do think the bosses are very daunting to try and learn but I found when you focus and pay attention a lot of the delays make sense but I will say that I don’t think they prepare you super well for it I think they try to make you engage by punishing you for running away by having combo extensions but that just makes people run more a lot of people also had a problem with input reading but that was always a thing if you want to heal you have to dodge and find a opening to heal for every boss but there is a problem where some bosses extend and you weren’t trying to run away like morgott will pull out the spinning hammer if you run away and after doing the raining swords he can do it and it’s really not your fault for walking away from him since the swords fall right on him but what I mean by engage is being aggressive dodging attacking charge attacks I think margit try’s to teach the player a lot of things the most important thing he teaches you is to go away and come back stronger but I think doesn’t teach you the combat extremely well for most players one of the most important is to dodge to the side not back. I am talking mostly about melee can’t say much about magic I think the healing one applies for it tho probably also sorry if some of this is random or there are problems with the way I wrote it
As a certified melee meathead, I hated Fortissax for a long time. But then i used ranged spells and even bows of him, and he's so much more manageable. The timed lightning only activates while near him so keeping a bit of distance can honestly trivialize Fortissax. I like Fire Giant quite a bit because he's pretty easy to poise break at the start of both phases, allowing for consistency no matter what kind of big stick I hit him with. I've literally never fought Godskin Duo straight up after my first playthrough and always just cheese them with sleep pots because I don't want to be on the receiving end of the fight's inconsistencies, like the noble sometimes rolling over broken pillars, randomly aggroing both of them simultaneously, or awkwardly layered attacks stunlocking me. The only good duo fight in Elden Ring imo is Leonine Misbegotten and Perfumer Tricia.
Currently in my first playthrough, the valiant gargoyles were so ass. i beat them without summons, but the amount of times i finally managed to kill the first one only to be poisoned without enough healing to survive was so infuriating

This video is peak! Obviously don't agree with all your takes but things wouldn't be interesting if we all agreed, right? Maliketh is my favorite, not just in ER but in gaming period. I love both phases. I noticed watching the video you dodge into Beast Clergyman a lot. Getting under him causes him to constantly disengage. Try rolling his dagger combos to the sides next time you fight him. This will bait his finisher which is highly punishable. Maybe that'll improve your opinion on the encounter, maybe not just thought I'd share. Also, I've always loved Mohg but the way you talked about it here just made me realize how great he actually is. 16:15 fun fact: in lore they are not that fat and you can see this when they do the phase transition into the big slam attack. Their "fat" is just their skin armor
Literal only eyebrow-raise take is that Midir is the only good dragon boss fromsoft has made, when really after playing both Placidusax and Midir, Midir really doesn't hold up as well as people nostalgic for DS3 might think
@@DuoFaceGaming Much more consistent, Placi can really drag at the end of the fight with him spamming teleports and the laser attack. The laser attack is extremely punishable but it's being such a comically large punish paired with the way you do it makes me think it was unintended. His repost doesn't reward you enough for how much poise he has. It's literally much more optimal to R1 spam while he's staggered than to take the repost which is kind of unsatisfying imo. His wing attack has a jank hitbox. His divebomb attack (the second variant) is extremely strange and I still don't understand how the attack works even though I can dodge it. IDK Midir is mechanically simple and pretty easy but I value consistency above all else and the fight is incredibly consistent.
@@BBQcheese Thing is, for me I find the Midir fight to be somewhat boring due to the mechanical simplicity, and thing is I'm not against a boss being mechanically simple, but a a secret bossfight against a dragon with more health than a majority of bosses in the game should be a little more mechanically complex imo Like the way the Placidusax fight slowly escalates, from him just sitting there, to him nuking the arena, to him eventually shooting through the sky and teleporting around, and finally the double laser breath attack, it feels like the more you fight Placidusax the more interesting the fight becomes Whereas with Midir, his mechanical simplicity makes him pretty easy to beat once you understand him, and having a boss with that much health despite that simplicity just makes his fight feel kinda tedious Like both bosses have similarly large health-pools but Placidusax makes draining that health-bar feel engaging and the fight escalates constantly, whereas Midir not doing that makes him feel comparatively unengaging Its really odd too because like, I felt my experience with Midir was more draining than Placidusax, even though I only died to Midir once, whereas Placidusax killed my 40 vigor ass quite a lot

TBH if we're being charitable here I think he meant that midir is the only really stellar dragon because he praised Placi quite a bit. Also, Kalameet is good too even if it's a bit of a dated fight.
Wonderful ranking, Malenia fans stay winning, the waterfowl dance dodge is the most satisfying to master. I will say your ranking of Fortissax sucks (no offense) because you werent even fighting him right, the red lightning only starts to build up when you go past his face. You are supposed to fight him like Midir, stay in front of him and dodge his combos, and most if not all will leave his head down punishable by even a dagger. Fortissax suffers because no one seems to know how or when to fight him because they either fight him end game and its too easy, or they fight him pre mountaintops like intended but then try to beat up his legs and complain about the tracking lightning being annoying. Fight him like Midir and he is very enjoyable I promise you. He is my 3rd favorite dragon fight in the series right behind Sinh and Midir, Midir being the goat
I never complained about spamming off-screen projectiles in the gargoyle fight. I pointed out the flaws regarding their tendency to throw multiple attacks towards you at once with little room to counter attack, and their poison mist attack that is hard to hear, hard to spot, and hard to completely avoid. In the godskin duo, the projectiles they throw at you are almost never off screen, as they basically only throw them when you heal. The godskin duo's projectiles are easily 100x better than the gargoyle's ranged attack.
@@critterfarts7018 I beg to differ. I almost Always get offscreened by one of them when I'm trying to focus the second one down. Also, since one of them is more "passive" during the fight, he has the tendency to hang back and throw a fireball every now and again. Its just completely unfair

@@critterfarts7018 Thats the whole reason I said "off screen". You can't dodge what you can't see. Its not a demon prince situation where the projectile has a visible trail for a couple seconds before the hitbox actually becomes active. That gives you the chance to dodge even when the second demon IS completely off screen. God Skin Duo ? Nooooo. You just get a fireball to the back of the head everytime you shift your attention to one. Also, the destructible pillars just make it worse, fireball's fly right over them once they're by black flame attacks. Here's a wasted chance to counter those invisible fire balls through positioning
@@leo-shun really?? weird, it's very rare that I'd get hit by an offscreen black flame projectile. Almost never happens to me. Even If there is one off screen, I hear the startup sound, and just quickly turn around to dodge it.
it's one of my least favorite things this game does. No clue why they feel the need to reuse main bosses, it ruins what makes it cool. It's the same with Astel in the consecrated snowfield and sorta that mimic tear in the tunnel to the consecrated snowfield.
The main problem with twin gargoyles is the poison mist. In principle it's an ok summon punish / back off aoe / opening for ranged attacks (you're supposed to have ranged attacks in Elden Ring, like half the bosses have long 'get off me' aoes); but it comes out too fast and too often. Apart from that I think they're a reasonable damage/vigor check dividing Nokron, which you can get to pretty early, from Deeproot, which (I think? Maybe I'm wrong?) is intended to be more of a mid to late game area. If you come back to them post-Capitol they're tough, and still not a great fight, but not ~that~ bad. Plus, imo they're allowed to be a bit extra difficult because there's another path to the depths for people who favor exploration over combat. Also absolutely can't agree that their aesthetics is bad - they look neat, only really losing points for the repeat use. Their boss arena is fantastic, seeing the first one swoop in from the distance is dramatic, etc. I'm not claiming they're a good fight. Maybe if the poison mist was slower (in particular taking longer to recover before going into the next attack), with more of an audible wind up, an easier to make out area of effect, and just came out less frequently. But I don't find them as terrible as others.
I also have to defend Fortisax a bit. He's no Midir, but iirc that auto-lightning business mostly only spams like that if you're under his body - and if it does happen to catch if you're away from him it's much easier to read and time the dodge. I think it's mostly there to try to get you to square up and fight him from the front - where you can see, appreciate, and dodge his big lightning swipes, and target the head which most of his attacks bring down into melee range to punish. Yes, it goes back up between attacks, but again you're supposed to have a ranged option in this game. Again, still not great, far from Midir, but I think I prefer him to Placidusax.
personally? I love the dragon kin soldiers, they're some of my favorite minibosses in the game, godskin duo 100% deserved to be lower than the gargoyle duo, and maliketh idc what anyone says maliketh is the best boss in the game
Honestly AMAZING list and video. Every boss is exactly where i wouldve ranked them except maybe switching Fire Giant with Astel( fg has slow but predictable moves, distance can easily be closed with torrent, ill admit the fire attacks are ass but he isnt that bad. And astel is just horrible to me: bad telegraphed attacks, really weird hitboxes, mid ost but an overall good visual design, and the fricking teleport) And i would also switch Godfrey with Malenia. Godfrey is just soo well done with the attacks being perfectly balanced and dodgeable, amazing ost, and a really intense second phase which when you have the timing down, just feels so satisfying. Malenia is great too obviously(shes my number 3):great visuals and ost, very fair attacks once you got them down, and it really feels like a dance BUT the healing is kinda unnecesary and she does just a little to much damage requiering almost perfection for most of her moves. Shes still an amazing boss tho but Godfrey just does it for me man. Also great take with Fortisax who is just a bad boss imo. All ancient dragons are bad(except placi) especially Lanseax(holy shit fuck this boss) and Fortisax is just a slightly better version of that but still not very good. And godskin duo is sooo overhated, like i think its the best gank fight in Elden Ring. With two amazing bosses on their own, beeing thrown together with perfect AI and an easy method to defeat them(sleep), a great ost, and a perfect Arena you get a really good gank fight.
i think a cool idea for radagon would A make elden beast an optiobal final boss like moon presence and B when you take down radagon you see the hair change to yellow and fight marika then about halfway the hair can change to orange or yellow signifying what attacks will be used then a combination of orange and yellow for big destructive attacks. ik its a lot but i would love to see someone implement that ps. love elden beast at least a top 15 boss for me and its probably because elden ring was the first souls game i completed

She can then get up bock your attack and immediately go into waterfowl which is a move that you cannot expect a player to doge fully every time. If you like the fight you do but don’t say its coping for talking about actually problems

Every single boss has borderline bullshit mechanics one way or another her jus happen to be extra annoying because of lifesteal. I've had those exact things happen to me against her. I just don't think people saying she's a shit boss is valid because of a few tough mechanics. As you said to each there own and that's with no sarcasm I can understand why people may not enjoy it as much. It took me many many tries to get a clean win against her but I eventually went on to beat her solo with like 20 different builds. Between her ost, the arena and her actual player model I think it's an incredible fight
@@fattmo7217 It depends on the criteria you look at bosses with, I judge them mechanically first. Then everything else is a bonus, for me Melania is perfect in every aspect except mechanically. Kinda like ornstein and smough. When ever there is a move or bug that makes it not the players fault they got hit the fight quality diminishes. If they fix the poise and repost and make it so she leaps back away from you and then does waterfowl i think its perfect. The lifesteal is only annoying because she hits you, make it so every attack is fair then lifesteal is not a problem. But yeah its all subjective for enjoyment.

You never need to roll through Godskin Nobles rolling attack. Just sprint jump to the side once, then strafe to his side constantly and he cant catch you. He rolls as a cyclinder, not a sphere so he can't quickly.
Based as fuck Godskin Duo enjoyer. Nerds on Reddit decided on release day that Godskin Duo was the worst boss ever made and everyone hopped on that bandwagon. I was the same for a long time, but its goated now.
Always fun to see a boss ranking take. Interesting that you mentioned multiple times that your perceptions of bosses changed over the playthroughs.
About some of the 'bad' boss mechanics, for example twin Gargoyles and Commander Nial's adds, Elden Ring can have some pretty big gaps in how good these feel depending on how much you interact with the tools the game gives you. Obviously summoning is one, but there are so many powerful things in the game I think they expect the average player character to be quite strong. So a simple knight build is a very weak build compared to the expected character, which might have the damage to instantly vaporize Nialls adds, and not have to fight the Twin Gargs simultaneously for any length of time, if at all.
I loved how you put Tekken music to this video. Funnily enough I use Tekken music to amp me up when facing a tough boss. 😂

Imo Elden Ring has the best boss line up Fromsoft has put out so far, this ranking is not too different from mine and does a great job of showcasing all the bosses. (You went a lil too hard on Elden Beast though ngl, the fight could be better yes, but the music and atmosphere were a perfect ending)

Fire giant is actually really cool. It does have it’s problems, like the fire bouncing endlessly in the arena, but overall in my rl1 run I came to really appreciate this boss. First of all it’s really cool and unique, imo has one of the most innovative boss track (albeit not the best one)

oh, for Malikeths destined death slashy thing you you can tell when he’s going to do it.
He’ll do it after jumping and landing on the sword (as long as you’re in front of him), and he’ll also do it after his weird cartwheel thing.
To avoid it you can deadass just run towards him or dodge roll like twice to his tail. (He was my personal favorite)

If you learn beast clergyman its a really fun fight where your baiting his slashes because he will do the big overhead one afterwards where you get a big opening.

Fortissax's lighting strike only will trigger if you to under him its also clear er dragons are more made for spell users or ranged attacks whenever i fight any of them but placidusax i just use bolt of grannsax and using midir rules stay infront attack the head
Many of these fights could be made easier if people were actually using consumable items. For Example, in the Commander Niall fight, he summons two knights to fight you, but you can use bewitching branch to turn them against him, making it an easy fight.
Great list, however i think fire giant ost is really amazing to me! Also i think you got something wrong for mohg's lore, its the outer god "formless mother" who craves wounds.
I honestly love astel. His visuals and atmosphere is top notch and his gameplay feels very similar to the dancer from ds3 but with ranged attacks. All these slow attacks with quick windups and backhand slaps really made this one of my favorite bosses. It felt like what dancer could've been if she were a dlc boss

Bro I must've got favorable RNG cause when I fought the valiant gargoyles they did not gank up on me to where as long as I monitored my spacing I was able to kill one before getting bummed rushed by the other.

I think the only big thing wrong with ER Bosses is that they are designed with summons in mind so getting windows to actually land hits are few and far between
really? i find it manageable to play ER without summons and still get opportunities for counterattacks. The bosses are definitely harder though for sure

Quick tip about Niall that makes him much easier:
There's an item that exists called a "Bewitching Branch", you can buy five of them from a Nomadic Merchant below the Bellum Church in Liurnia. Using a Bewitching Branch on one of the Banished Knights in Niall's first phase will make it aggro on either the other knight or Niall himself. Either way, a knight is guaranteed to die when they aggro onto Niall as he pretty much kills them instantly. This makes the first phase SO MUCH easier and it allows you to enjoy the amazing second phase :>

For Niall you just have to kill the very agressiv one (two sword men) and then you can hit Niall when the other one is a bit far away because he is way slower.

Also I enjoyed beating Astel Naturalborn of the Void especially because I was sevearly underleveled when fighting it. It was so rewarding and awesome to finnally defeat Astel, also I loved the visuals, just stunning (I might be biased since my favorite color is purple).

I recently played through Elden ring again and tried to engage with the bosses more than my first playthrough and man the bosses are so much fun I also felt the exact same way about godskin duo with my recent playthrough although the nobles roll can be a bit buggy and stutter Sometimes also to dodge malikeths one slam move if he dose it normally you dodge back not forward and if his doing the air one you dodge towards him
Question how do you engage with bosses with 16 hit stun combos?
@@_BlackenedSun you try to find where you can hit them during a combo mainly trying to find how to do charge attacks and get posture breaks you gotta be agressive. I do think the bosses are very daunting to try and learn but I found when you focus and pay attention a lot of the delays make sense but I will say that I don’t think they prepare you super well for it I think they try to make you engage by punishing you for running away by having combo extensions but that just makes people run more a lot of people also had a problem with input reading but that was always a thing if you want to heal you have to dodge and find a opening to heal for every boss but there is a problem where some bosses extend and you weren’t trying to run away like morgott will pull out the spinning hammer if you run away and after doing the raining swords he can do it and it’s really not your fault for walking away from him since the swords fall right on him but what I mean by engage is being aggressive dodging attacking charge attacks I think margit try’s to teach the player a lot of things the most important thing he teaches you is to go away and come back stronger but I think doesn’t teach you the combat extremely well for most players one of the most important is to dodge to the side not back. I am talking mostly about melee can’t say much about magic I think the healing one applies for it tho probably also sorry if some of this is random or there are problems with the way I wrote it

Elemar was surprisingly difficult It's really an underrated fight
As a certified melee meathead, I hated Fortissax for a long time. But then i used ranged spells and even bows of him, and he's so much more manageable. The timed lightning only activates while near him so keeping a bit of distance can honestly trivialize Fortissax.
I like Fire Giant quite a bit because he's pretty easy to poise break at the start of both phases, allowing for consistency no matter what kind of big stick I hit him with.
I've literally never fought Godskin Duo straight up after my first playthrough and always just cheese them with sleep pots because I don't want to be on the receiving end of the fight's inconsistencies, like the noble sometimes rolling over broken pillars, randomly aggroing both of them simultaneously, or awkwardly layered attacks stunlocking me. The only good duo fight in Elden Ring imo is Leonine Misbegotten and Perfumer Tricia.
Currently in my first playthrough, the valiant gargoyles were so ass. i beat them without summons, but the amount of times i finally managed to kill the first one only to be poisoned without enough healing to survive was so infuriating

Maliketh is my favorite, not just in ER but in gaming period. I love both phases. I noticed watching the video you dodge into Beast Clergyman a lot. Getting under him causes him to constantly disengage. Try rolling his dagger combos to the sides next time you fight him. This will bait his finisher which is highly punishable. Maybe that'll improve your opinion on the encounter, maybe not just thought I'd share.
Also, I've always loved Mohg but the way you talked about it here just made me realize how great he actually is. Thanks!

Much more consistent, Placi can really drag at the end of the fight with him spamming teleports and the laser attack. The laser attack is extremely punishable but it's being such a comically large punish paired with the way you do it makes me think it was unintended. His repost doesn't reward you enough for how much poise he has. It's literally much more optimal to R1 spam while he's staggered than to take the repost which is kind of unsatisfying imo. His wing attack has a jank hitbox. His divebomb attack (the second variant) is extremely strange and I still don't understand how the attack works even though I can dodge it.
IDK Midir is mechanically simple and pretty easy but I value consistency above all else and the fight is incredibly consistent.
@@BBQcheese Thing is, for me I find the Midir fight to be somewhat boring due to the mechanical simplicity, and thing is I'm not against a boss being mechanically simple, but a a secret bossfight against a dragon with more health than a majority of bosses in the game should be a little more mechanically complex imo
Like the way the Placidusax fight slowly escalates, from him just sitting there, to him nuking the arena, to him eventually shooting through the sky and teleporting around, and finally the double laser breath attack, it feels like the more you fight Placidusax the more interesting the fight becomes
Whereas with Midir, his mechanical simplicity makes him pretty easy to beat once you understand him, and having a boss with that much health despite that simplicity just makes his fight feel kinda tedious
Like both bosses have similarly large health-pools but Placidusax makes draining that health-bar feel engaging and the fight escalates constantly, whereas Midir not doing that makes him feel comparatively unengaging
Its really odd too because like, I felt my experience with Midir was more draining than Placidusax, even though I only died to Midir once, whereas Placidusax killed my 40 vigor ass quite a lot

Yeah all of that is valid and I definitely agree that midir should have gotten more moves in his second phase but personally I'll always favor consistency. To each their own. TBH if we're being charitable here I think he meant that midir is the only really stellar dragon because he praised Placi quite a bit. Also, Kalameet is good too even if it's a bit of a dated fight.
Wonderful ranking, Malenia fans stay winning, the waterfowl dance dodge is the most satisfying to master. I will say your ranking of Fortissax sucks (no offense) because you werent even fighting him right, the red lightning only starts to build up when you go past his face. You are supposed to fight him like Midir, stay in front of him and dodge his combos, and most if not all will leave his head down punishable by even a dagger. Fortissax suffers because no one seems to know how or when to fight him because they either fight him end game and its too easy, or they fight him pre mountaintops like intended but then try to beat up his legs and complain about the tracking lightning being annoying. Fight him like Midir and he is very enjoyable I promise you. He is my 3rd favorite dragon fight in the series right behind Sinh and Midir, Midir being the goat

How could you Say that the Godskin Duo is good when they spam projectiles offscreen ? Thats what you complained about with the Gargoyles
I never complained about spamming off-screen projectiles in the gargoyle fight. I pointed out the flaws regarding their tendency to throw multiple attacks towards you at once with little room to counter attack, and their poison mist attack that is hard to hear, hard to spot, and hard to completely avoid. In the godskin duo, the projectiles they throw at you are almost never off screen, as they basically only throw them when you heal. The godskin duo's projectiles are easily 100x better than the gargoyle's ranged attack.
@@critterfarts7018 I beg to differ. I almost Always get offscreened by one of them when I'm trying to focus the second one down. Also, since one of them is more "passive" during the fight, he has the tendency to hang back and throw a fireball every now and again. Its just completely unfair

@@critterfarts7018 Thats the whole reason I said "off screen". You can't dodge what you can't see. Its not a demon prince situation where the projectile has a visible trail for a couple seconds before the hitbox actually becomes active. That gives you the chance to dodge even when the second demon IS completely off screen.
God Skin Duo ? Nooooo. You just get a fireball to the back of the head everytime you shift your attention to one. Also, the destructible pillars just make it worse, fireball's fly right over them once they're by black flame attacks. Here's a wasted chance to counter those invisible fire balls through positioning
@@leo-shun really?? weird, it's very rare that I'd get hit by an offscreen black flame projectile. Almost never happens to me. Even If there is one off screen, I hear the startup sound, and just quickly turn around to dodge it.
Even though it's annoying having bosses run too often, it keeps them from being overwhelmed too quick and makes them more interactive
Godrick would be one of a kind if they didn't shoehorn Godefroy into that evergaol in Altus.
it's one of my least favorite things this game does. No clue why they feel the need to reuse main bosses, it ruins what makes it cool. It's the same with Astel in the consecrated snowfield and sorta that mimic tear in the tunnel to the consecrated snowfield.
The main problem with twin gargoyles is the poison mist. In principle it's an ok summon punish / back off aoe / opening for ranged attacks (you're supposed to have ranged attacks in Elden Ring, like half the bosses have long 'get off me' aoes); but it comes out too fast and too often. Apart from that I think they're a reasonable damage/vigor check dividing Nokron, which you can get to pretty early, from Deeproot, which (I think? Maybe I'm wrong?) is intended to be more of a mid to late game area. If you come back to them post-Capitol they're tough, and still not a great fight, but not ~that~ bad. Plus, imo they're allowed to be a bit extra difficult because there's another path to the depths for people who favor exploration over combat. Also absolutely can't agree that their aesthetics is bad - they look neat, only really losing points for the repeat use. Their boss arena is fantastic, seeing the first one swoop in from the distance is dramatic, etc. I'm not claiming they're a good fight. Maybe if the poison mist was slower (in particular taking longer to recover before going into the next attack), with more of an audible wind up, an easier to make out area of effect, and just came out less frequently. But I don't find them as terrible as others.
I also have to defend Fortisax a bit. He's no Midir, but iirc that auto-lightning business mostly only spams like that if you're under his body - and if it does happen to catch if you're away from him it's much easier to read and time the dodge. I think it's mostly there to try to get you to square up and fight him from the front - where you can see, appreciate, and dodge his big lightning swipes, and target the head which most of his attacks bring down into melee range to punish. Yes, it goes back up between attacks, but again you're supposed to have a ranged option in this game. Again, still not great, far from Midir, but I think I prefer him to Placidusax.

Honestly AMAZING list and video. Every boss is exactly where i wouldve ranked them except maybe switching Fire Giant with Astel( fg has slow but predictable moves, distance can easily be closed with torrent, ill admit the fire attacks are ass but he isnt that bad. And astel is just horrible to me: bad telegraphed attacks, really weird hitboxes, mid ost but an overall good visual design, and the fricking teleport) And i would also switch Godfrey with Malenia. Godfrey is just soo well done with the attacks being perfectly balanced and dodgeable, amazing ost, and a really intense second phase which when you have the timing down, just feels so satisfying. Malenia is great too obviously(shes my number 3):great visuals and ost, very fair attacks once you got them down, and it really feels like a dance BUT the healing is kinda unnecesary and she does just a little to much damage requiering almost perfection for most of her moves. Shes still an amazing boss tho but Godfrey just does it for me man. Also great take with Fortisax who is just a bad boss imo. All ancient dragons are bad(except placi) especially Lanseax(holy shit fuck this boss) and Fortisax is just a slightly better version of that but still not very good. And godskin duo is sooo overhated, like i think its the best gank fight in Elden Ring. With two amazing bosses on their own, beeing thrown together with perfect AI and an easy method to defeat them(sleep), a great ost, and a perfect Arena you get a really good gank fight.
i think a cool idea for radagon would A make elden beast an optiobal final boss like moon presence and B when you take down radagon you see the hair change to yellow and fight marika then about halfway the hair can change to orange or yellow signifying what attacks will be used then a combination of orange and yellow for big destructive attacks. ik its a lot but i would love to see someone implement that
