If you look at enough of thier performances you'll see that Eddie & Otis moves were never as crisp & precise as Paul's & even Melvins they were still awesome but I think the Pips were more polished and precise as the temps
Hi edagdwg thanks for sharing this story of what happens when you are blessed with a voice that sounds like music loving men of the world God at work 🙏 changes everything and people linda j.☮️☮️☮️☮️

Replayed this video about thirty times. I wish I was around to actually see this performance live. Melvin and Richard were gettin' it! And Otis and Dennis *fans self* wheeew!
OK...I just watched this like five times straight before commenting. The guys were JAMMIN. ... All of them grooved...BUT I can't help but keep my eyes on Melvin...he was KILLIN IT!!! Gon' Melvin!
@@williebowen1043 A Song for You is a 1975 album by The Temptations. It was released January 16, 1975. It features two R&B #1 hits: "Happy People" (originally intended for recording by its authors, The Commodores), and "Shakey Ground", both of which was released in late 1974 in some markets. Also included are the following: "Glass House", "The Prophet", "A Song For You", "Memories", "I'm A Bachelor", and "Firefly".
Thanks, I did see there was sonething different about their moves. I like it. Lots of energy, when I hear this song on my Ipod I actually visualize..Good to know!
That's not the Midnight special Whatiship73 and Sorry to tell you that. Anyway, Been a Tempts fan since 1970 and I remember this performance well. In fact, one of my uncles was on the legal team of the management company that rep'd the Temps and he and Dennis were tight. All you can say is WOW and who can touch THIS? NOBODY then and NOBODY now!
Wow! Tough choreography--almost makes me dizzy to watch it! I always liked this song, so this clip was great to watch. Thanks for posting this. Can somebody make me a DVD set of all these great videos???
To answer your question; kudos is often used to give credit and recognizing someone of their unique talent with praise, as a result, in this case, the group profit beyond their wildest dreams. I hope this was helpful. This is why I like Utube, the sharing, kudos to the staff of Utube, and it allows all of us to grow!
Alot of people don't give them credit, but Blue and Dennis could really dance too. Otis, I hate to say was a little stiff, and I've noticed on other videos, would be messing up. But he was/is the glue to the harmony.
Handsome Bastard: The Tempts were not the FIRST - The Nicholas Brothers, The Cadillacs, James Brown's Famous Flames, Ike and Tina Turner's Ikettes, The Contours and Gladys Knight and The Pips preceded them in this - but no other group had a dance named after their steps ("The Temptation Walk") or surpassed them in this area!
@@ujimajame4601 The other groups u mentioned didn't have a broadway-like singing and dancing routine quite like this though. This particular number contains moves u would typically see in a staged Broadway show as far as having to be in certain spots on stage at a specific time, or what's called "hitting your mark" or "blocking". They even implement a little acting in their routines which most other groups did not do. They specifically hired Broadway choreographers cholly Atkins, and later Sergio Trujillo in order to mirror a Broadway feel to their performances.
Lon Fontaine took over the choreography of the Temptations during this period. As you can see, it is a bold departure from the "classic" Tempts choreography from the 60's; and clearly the reason you hear very few songs from this era in any of their shows these days.
Yeah, Your right. They're all on the album, "A Song For You". Side one is funky (Standing On Shakey Ground) and side two is slow jams. IMHO, The last great Temptations LP.
When the tempts did away with the four headed mike this was the results. They were more free to move . The steps on Glasshouse word cannot describe. Back in the 70s we would just say Badddddddddddddddddddddddd. Wow some 70,000 views Wow.
Just found this one today. Thanks for the upload. Not sure about it being Midnight Special though. BTW, is 1975 the right year? Anyone got any info on when this is from and what show it is? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
In my opinion, not one of their best songs. However, I've watched this video more times than I care to count; just to check out the dance moves. So now I'm diggin the song as a result. It's all about association my friends
*I was, is, and will always be in love with Dennis🥰*
And it's clear why you were in love, too!
Their choreography was always insane! No group could touch them!
If you look at enough of thier performances you'll see that Eddie & Otis moves were never as crisp & precise as Paul's & even Melvins they were still awesome but I think the Pips were more polished and precise as the temps
Only Dennis could do this ..Awesome......*
It just amazes me how Dennis Edwards moved into his role, seemingly without a hitch. He was born for it !!!

Changes in the lineup or not, yesterday, today, or tomorrow, there will never, ever be anyone greater than the Temps!!!!!!!
The Temptations sure can sing and dance!
My first time seeing this video. OMG! My boys got that choreography on fire!!! LOVE THEM!
Richard can do those turns effortlessly
They all can
That voice mesmerizing
Dancing is magnificent.
Dennis dances with so much passion

MsTexas73, for real he killed it!
Which made the last few videos before his passing painful to watch because he REALLY loved being a Temptation.
J’adore 😊
So many talented singers transited the group,
quite unique that way. And all the difference customs over the years should have some kind of
museum.
I remember them performing this tune on Soul Train 😊
footage link? if you have it i mean that would be cool thank you
@@slendus8363 unfortunately, I don't.
An incredible tune!! The Temps rock!!!
Wow! Disco era and they jamming!
The Commodores were the musicians for this song and 'Happy People' from the same album.
Happy People came out in 1974. GlassHouse came out 1975.

screw dancing with the stars, this is dancing with the Temps!
😍😍😍😍
Love it😍💏
Paul is not on this one. That’s Richard street that took his place.
Alot of people don't give them credit, but Blue and Dennis could really dance too. Otis, I hate to say was a little stiff, and I've noticed on other videos, would be messing up. But he was/is the glue to the harmony.
He's always said he wasn't a dancer
Blue and Richard and Glen was the dancer. Dennis and Otis was the stiff dancer. Otis Amit he wasn't no dancer
Eddie was stiff to! But i love them nonetheless!
The action doesn't begin until 1:29. I love the way they look and dance.
This is the first group to incorporate elaborate dance routines in their performances and boy do they pull it off...perfectly!

They have the moves, espically Melvin and Paul of course when he was with them.
Paul was an excellent dancer
i love the intro

I AGREE WITH YOU 100% !
Its a medley of songs, starting with Cloud Nine, My Girl, Get Ready, and ends with the Papa Was A Rollin' Stone ending.
The temptations were the ones other singing groups measured their own success by.
Kinda of like basketball players have MJ as the model of success
HAPPY 68TH BIRTHDAY GLENN LEONARD (JUNE 11, 2015)

Prophet
Memories

Glasshouse was released in 1975.
When a normal person throws a rock they break a window but when five Temptations throw a rock they break the camera.
it dont look like a midnight special cuz if it was there would have been a better stage and + it would have the name on the back
What the hell is Otis thinking with that hairstyle? OMG!!! LOL
David Ruffin got to him...and wanted to be seen. 😋😋😋😋
That was the hair style back then among young black men's. I had my hair perm like that also
WHATS WRONG WITH IT ?
Richard Street so fine! Sorry Eddie😥
I just love them sissy dance moves.
Those steps sucked who was the choreography that's looks like something the dynamic superiors would have done
In my opinion, not one of their best songs. However, I've watched this video more times than I care to count; just to check out the dance moves. So now I'm diggin the song as a result. It's all about association my friends
Is David RUffin in there...
Temptations
MitnightSpecial 1975
Otis Williams
Melvin Franklin
Dennis Edwards
Richard Street
Glenn Leonard
Long gone ... he was fired in 1968. This performance is 1975.
Where is Damon Harris?
Temptations
MitnightSpecial 1975
Otis Williams
Melvin Franklin
Dennis Edwards
Richard Street
Glenn Leonard
He had been let go earlier that year (1975) even though his voice is on the album track. His replacement, Glenn Leonard, is in this lineup.
It think it's funny how the opening sequence shows close-ups of all the Tempts EXCEPT Eddie and David.
