I actually played the campaign again tonight as it is war memorial day here in The Netherlands. And I was astounded by how amazing the campaign looked. Especially since this game is eight years old this year and in many aspects looks superior and more realistic than the later games.
WW2 is the last Cod I genuinely enjoyed tbh. The only flaws personally was half the maps sucked, either too big or just badly designed in my opinion, like Gustav Cannon LOL. The divisions and basic training system was a controversial change, but I didn't mind it, got used to it rather quick and liked it as a 1 off. I loved the gunplay, movement and general feel of the game, it felt basic but the fun kind of basic, I wish SHG kept using that engine, shame they were forced to ditch it cause of Warzone, hence why Vanguard is just a MW19 DLC.. War mode was so fun, especially going for sniper feeds, Operation Breakout was GOATed. WW2 got too much hate for a small reason, I still play it every now and then, would rather play it than MW III that's for sure lmao.
Yeah Gustav Cannon was ass lol, but the majority of my time spent playing has been on war so I didn’t have to see that map, but for sure though, I got to 10th prestige on MW3 just from playing zombies lol, didn’t get manipulated once by SBMM or any of that BS. I played it for open world zombies, but have just kept playing WW2 for MP.
I never understood why people hated this game so much, and then when Vanguard came out hated that one just as much or more when they are so similar. WW2 had some great maps, and the WAR mode was terrific (and yes, it's still awesome in MW3). That being said, the microtransaction stuff is/was pretty bad for obvious reasons, but then again not quite as pervasive as they are now in the modern games (the bundles in current CoD games are insane imo) and while the main hub area thing they did for this game was cool and unique for the time - forcing people to open chests in front of everyone is a pretty crap thing to do lol
@@justchillin6314 Yes, but that option was added months after release don't forget. You had no other way of opening them up except on that HQ map with everyone else running around - which is one of the reasons people hated the game I'd imagine lol
@@LordLOC But after the overhaul is when WW2 became great my guy, and that was added months after release as well. The reason WW2 got a bad rep is simply because it had a shitty launch which then set a bad impression for the game, but sledgehammer listened to the community and since the overhaul it became much better as I alluded to. But at that point a lot of players had left WW2 and were probably playing Fortnite then and didn’t give WW2 another chance. Thankfully for me though I didn’t start playing WW2 MP until after the overhaul so I didn’t have to go into the hq to open my supply drops but I preferred to anyway though tbh, but if your comment was just critiquing the state of the game from launch though then fair enough, I’m not going to argue with you brotha, but I wasn’t playing MP at launch so I can’t speak to it.
@@LordLOC Also, no they didn’t man, the HQ was a brilliant concept and made WW2 so much better, you could just come to the hq to hangout and goof about, didn’t even have to play as there were many things to do in there, it was a genius idea, and I’m only saddened that it wasn’t continued as it attributed so much more replay-ability to the game.
@@justchillin6314 Oh don't get me wrong - I love WW2 quite a bit. Even at launch, and even with some of the less popular ideas they had (War mode, how could that not be popular?!) I played the absolute crap out of the game. I also had no problem with the launch issues, while annoying and they shouldn't be there to begin with - I also know the devs will fix most if not all the problems (which they did) and since I loved the gameplay in the game, (most) the maps and especially War as a game mode I had a ball from the start.
for me COD WWII was the last COD I personally invested a lot of time into since I was starting to lose interest in the series around that same time. I skipped BO4, played a little bit of MW19, and honestly when it comes to the series since MW19 no one can pay me to play those trash heaps.

Really sucks, but this is it. I don't think they'll ever give us what we truly want. Money over all else with cod now. I wish we could experience the best of cod again with servers wide open & full of players. Lasting decades, not until the next game drops
@justchillin6314 Majority of multiplayer games will do & have done that.. they should. Point is, now it matters more than ever. They don't even try to give their player base what they want & shut down games that do
@@lexymoniquelove Lexy a player lifecycle of a CoD game or just any game isn’t going to last decades no matter how good the game is. That’s just how it goes, the more time goes on for any game the smaller the player base gets and eventually may stagnate, but people nowadays are always just looking for the next big thing and don’t want to stay on the same game for too long, and part me can understand that, eventually the game will become stale and boring, but for me I chose to keep playing WW2 because it was the last great CoD, and the newer CoDs are oversaturated and oversimplified with lots of tedious settings and choice, and I prefer 100 health over 150 health, but the point is, CoD has been doing microtransactions now since AW which was like 10 years ago, and even before that on BO2 we were already starting to get glimpses of it, but that’s not what made the CoDs start to become bad though, it was the lack of heart and soul that was continuing to go into the franchise that got lost somewhere along the way. Pretty much all big FPS games now have some sort of microtransaction currency, but as I said, that isn’t the problem with the game, it’s the developers making them and drifting away from the classic CoD formula. On WW2 I thought opening supply drops around people in the hq was a cool concept, and even just the hq alone was a brilliant idea, and it sucks it wasn’t continued, but to top off what you were saying though, have CoD companies become even more money hungry and cash grabbing since WW2? Absolutely, but I guess that’s how it goes with a lot of models. I never spent a penny on any supply drops on WW2 but still unlocked almost everything in the game. When a certain weapon or cosmetic is locked behind a paywall though with no other way to unlock it then I take issue with that. There should always be a way to unlock any weapon in a game just by playing it and doing challenges without having to pay money, and for the most part there is, but as I said, the latest CoDs have lost the classic CoD feel and formula anyway which was more of the reason I only got them just for zombies while I still play WW2 for MP, as imo it was the last great one with the classic CoD aura.
