Duuude. I saw short moments from your video on a recent DW video and I so much agree with you. These are exactly the points that annoy the heck out of me. Even one time when I remotely turned on the air conditioning, not only did it take forever, it seems to have even got stuck. When I entered the car it was not only NOT air conditioned, also the infotainment was completely frozen (screen just showed "loading profile"). At that moment I didn't know how to restart it, so I had to drive home like this (yes it was still able to drive, but in silence lol).
This is definitely not a chinese version problem. It is the exact same sh*t in Germany too!
I drive a Tesla Model 3 now. Man, the software is SO much better. The Hardware I agree, Tesla is not on pair with VW here yet, but overall the Model 3 is the better car for me (and costs exactly the same as an ID3 in Germany! What a joke from VW!)

great review. And should be a warning to VW. They only have to look 50km away from their plant, there is a building in the City of Braunschweig that originally belonged to company called "Miro". In the late 90s they were building the best graphic cards money could buy, in fact they were well ahead of their times but they never made their software match the hardware. Nobody remembers that company any more

I really enjoy your reviews! Great channel! I like your straightforward honesty, witty comments and general EV knowledge.
Today's episode was a bold one. It takes great courage to review your own personal car, and the way you did it, with that honesty and wittines... made me laught out hard a few times, especially with that autonomous screen software. That "android amateur screen" UI in the Xpeng G9 doesn't look so bad after all now, does it? 😉
Keep up the good work, bro! Looking forward for more great reviews. Greetings from EV-Norway 😊

While i''m admittedly a Weilai (NIO) loving American fanboy, I found this video extremely useful. I'm happy to know you mostly love and enjoy your ID.3; unfortunately, Volkswagen's 2015 emissions scandal is still fresh in my mind. And while electric and petro vehicles are fundamentally different, the resulting harm and distrust of the brand due to this ordeal remain.

@@MaticTheProto I'm sure that's intended as a nationalistic insult; however, my position on future mobility is neutral regarding nations' borders. Thus, you'll probably be disappointed to know that I wouldn't necessarily dispute or be surprised by such a revelation. Cheers!

...so you do t know the whole shit history of VW. It came to life during Hitler's time, then took the preorder money from the customers to build weapons. And yeah: it stole the design for the VW Käfer from the Czechoslovakian Tatra company...which sued...until the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia.

NIO, the company where more people look at the stock than at their products. :) And there lies the problem, everybody speculate on the stock and like it for the stock because they missed TSLA stock. The stock seems more interesting for people than the actual cars itself.

As one of vw software victims (golf mk8 owner), I think its software is really lousy! The whole multimedia system crashes three/four times in one year: Maps, CarPlay, all vehicle media all go down, and the only thing you can see is a poor clock. Thank goodness it still starts and send me home; it deserves an award🙃🙃

I have to say: as someone who drives Mercedes, the VW ID4 entertainment system feels ancient even compared to my 2018 A-Class.
When I got to test it it was really disappointing, especially since vw cars are otherwise pretty good

I wonder if the software is the older version before the most recent updates. The black upper hood panel is no longer on the latest ID.3. Beautiful city car, but they'll have to satisfy their customer base over the next couple of years that the software issues will not only be fixed, but will strive to lead other carmakers in quality and reliability.

I like the turquoise colour of your inserts! Nice!
    regarding software
I have a Golf 8, from October 2020 with pretty much the same software. After a software update a year ago, I started liking the car.
The wireless Android Auto now works flawlessly. it turns itself on when I start up the car.
Strange that yours does not work 100percent.
However, it sucks battery, and the wireless charging cannot keep up with this high use of the battery. Also, the bandwidth available to stream music over Wireless PLUS google maps, means that my android phone reduces the bitrate of the songs. The harman kardon hifi therefore does not sound so good :( I can hear the "zisch" sounds in the music.
For these reasons I would avoid using Wireless display for long journeys or if you like high music quality
The rest of the software also works flawlessly, APART from when the car is wet! Then I get warnings that system X is not working etc etc. After a few minutes, it all works.
Must be old versions of control units or possibly battery, harness. I am pretty sure a 2023 will not have these issues.

As a European ID.3 owner - for 2,5 years already - I agree with this video. SW is shit. App is shit. Car is good. Price was also nice for me when I bought it. 34k€. For those years the only similarly priced and equipped car is only recently offered MG4. Throg the experience I had I can guarantee myself that the next car won't be VW.

ID.3 in China has 25kW less than the European version. So it is a bit slower.

@@telescopesh European id.3 base model ID.3 Pure 45 kWh (only available for a brief period, cheapest model) had 93 kW peak motor performance. "ID.3 Pure Performance 45 kWh" was 110 kW peak. So, while the current ID.3 (Facelift) base model is 150 kW, there existed official versions with less power and at lower prices.

The problem with VW and this car is very simple. VW have lots of experienced and skilled automotive engineers, but hardly any skilled and sufficiently experienced software engineers who are knowledgeable with development and deployment in this space (those people all work at Google, Meta, Apple, Tesla etc for alot more $$$). Bottom line VW is a car company, not a tech company so anything software development is a real weak spot for them. Come back in 10 years time and their stuff *might* work properly.... 14:10 Not when VW don't have expertise that (software development) area....

    • @jellyd4889
      @jellyd4889 10 месяцев назад

It was just management decisions. 1) use old hardware 2) get the cars on to the market like "yesterday please".
They have supposedly fixed it with the new id5 and id7 - see the new reviews. The newer versions of the Golf 8, id3, have slightly faster processors than the initial production year. The software has been fixed.
New versions of the ID3 should have newer control units and newer software versions that are better compatible with each other :)
      However - they messed up.

I don't share your faith. Even the CEO has admitted massive problems on the software and softwarehardware side and the owner forums have been rife with these problems that drive people crazy for ages. Worrying the VW CEO talks about software updates in early/mid 2024, and hardware improvements in 2024/2025! The whole thing really needs to be redesigned from ground up within a completely different product life cycle. The problem is VW simply don't understand software development and all the associated dependencies well enough and/or simply aren't structured in a way that allows for effective development and delivery. I reckon it probably won't be until the 3rd or 4th generation of the ID cars that they'll have a something fully usable/reliable on the software side that doesn't drive owners nuts. @@jellyd4889
