- We’ve been conspicuous by our absence in terms of updates on social media recently, most of that has been deliberate, so we thought it was about time we gave you an update…
There are a couple of things that we have been saying for a while now, firstly, we are 100% committed to detail and being as historically accurate as possible. Secondly “all good things come to those who wait”.
This coming week is a big one, it’s the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, it doesn’t get much bigger than that for the Night Fright Team.
In our latest video, Charlie & Neil give a restoration update and reveal a few surprises 👀
As always a huge shoutout to everyone involved in supporting and following the project, whether you are involved full time or in just a small way, it makes a massive difference and we couldn’t do it without you.
A special mention to Ben and the Heritage Air Services team, the level of workmanship is second to none.
Also to Neil for his involvement in a number of aspects of the project as well as his part in this video.
And of course Joe, the man behind the camera for turning up week in week out and capturing content, patiently working with us as we stumble through interviews and updates.
This coming week is highly significant, honouring past generations and their sacrifices is right at the forefront of what we are trying to achieve. That alongside education of future generations is what keeps us going, the Night Fright Team will certainly be thinking about D-Day 80 this coming week.

AWESOME! Congratulations to the entire Night Fright crew on this accomplishment. I’m in the states so it’ll be a bit before I can see Night Fright up close, but when I finally make it out there I will absolutely be stopping to see her. She’s been my favorite restoration project to follow since I learned of her story in 2019. Again, congratulations to the entire crew!

Superb paint job! Just like you guys are technically doing with the overall airframe. Once finished, she'll be better than new and a living tribute to history!

Ironic how much effort you put into the invasion strips considering the order to apply them came out just before the invasion, so they were haphazardly applied by the ground crew with whatever was handy, brushes, mops and probably rarely with a spray gun and masking.
Thanks Mark. Appreciate your comment. Whilst you are correct, the application of the stripes was better on some C-47s than others. The stripes on Night Fright were hand painted as we always maintained they would be, its a balance between authenticity and application. We think it looks great but appreciate your comment. Charlie

Nice to see, been watching since Mikey first showed this. Love the cap. Just to let you know, I can't get Night Fright coffee shipped into Canada now. Some kind of shipping issue from the US. I still have a little left at least. Glad you guys aren't rushing getting the plane done, do it properly and safely.

Shame about her not being in Normandy , will she be dropping parachutists at Market Gdn 80?
I know the night fright will miss the 80th anniversary of D-Day but it doesn’t matter she will be among many airworthy US skytrain’s and RAF Dakotas soon.
