I have seen the one in Ottawa and have so much respect for the dedication these folks take to restore machines like this one. My Dad was a tail gunner in one during WW2 so to be able to visit and see these incredible planes is an emotional journey indeed. The B.C. Aviation Museum in Sidney BC (where I live) is also in the process of restoring one of these beauties. We donated my Dad's uniform jacket and when they finally complete the restoration, it will be included in with the exhibit.
Great work , and nice to know of another Lanc under restoration. Hope you collaborate with the East Kirkby Lncolshire aviation trust and BBMF . THe EKL Lanc NX611 Is being restored to fly but earns its keep presently doing engine runs and taxi runs . It is living history and as such that much more inspirational and meaningful. The sacrifice of those aircrew was huge and must never be forgotten. Thanks again to all your volunteers .
Love it. Great job on the restoration. I do know how long it takes But please , ya might as well make her airworthy You've put in all this time and she deserves to fly again and honor the men
I was lucky to get a tour of the work going on for this beauty a couple of years ago! The museum is a great place to visit! Thanks to those showing me what was happening with the works.
It is so important to history the work that organizations and individuals do to restore and maintain old artifacts from World War II. It's living history.
I'm so in awe of the enormous effort you're putting into restoring that gorgeous aircraft . It's very comforting to know others care so much about the memory of those brave lads who paid such a high price to defeat nazism
And so Turdeau can throw all their losses & efforts away. Thanks to him & Singh, it's taken 80 years to finally lose WWII. Wouldn't that make them eligible to stand trial for war crimes or sabotage?
As someone who regularly sees VRA fly over my house in Hamilton I look forward to seeing the finished product and while I love to see Vera flying, it’s also extremely important to have restored static examples saved for future generations to experience. Unlike Vera which has extensive interior alterations this will be a more historically accurate example of the type.
There's a hell of a lot going on. There's Just Jane at East Kirkby, this one in Canada, The guys at East Kirkby are also doing a static Lanc and another one too - isn't it an B17? Then there's a couple of Mosquitos, I think to fly. And there's a Stirling - long way to go on that. That's just the ones I know about from looking at YT for five minutes. Then there's the Spitfire and Hurricane guys. In addition to building an entire aircraft from a couple of scraps dug out of a beach they're doing brand new aircraft. And there's Messserschmitts and an FW190. If you go to some of those Spitfire companies they ask you how many you want. 😀
Is there any thought to making it airworthy? I'm following the efforts of the East Kirkby folks in getting "Just Jane" airworthy, and this would be only the 4th airworthy Lancaster, if that's possible.
This is a very scary thought. If you are following 'Just Jane' you know they are just over half way through their restoration to fly IF no major hangups occur. The BBMF Lancaster PA474 swapped their time expired horizontal stabilizer with FM212 to keep PA474 flying- which means FM212 is now a grounded duck. Do you know the final bill for restoring CWH's FM213- 30 years ago? I believe a RR Merlin overhaul is about a quarter million, times 4. Appreciate the once that are flying.
We have a wacko in Ottawa vandalizing our entire country. A terrible amount of sick people out there and if we run short, Turdeau will keep importing more.
Funny. I was just watching the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre Lancaster hangar tour by Neville Weelden. Great work by the Canadians.
Nice one Don,we in the UK wish you all the best.

fantastic work. We need to remember all those that served in Bomber Command.
A restoration on a Lancaster is priceless.

East Kirkby has a B25, not a B17.

If the Air Museum keeps it then there is no point in air worthiness, the museum does not fly it's aircraft.
Best of British 🇬🇧
What would it take to make this airworthy??
How can anyone vandalise such a treasure

👍
Please 🙏 make her fly
