@oxoelfoxo I have always liked the challenge of a research project when I have insomnia. I'm up anyway, so I might as well learn something. Just glad I could share with the class...
I just downloaded the Tonic app after seeing 15,000 ads for it. I like the idea a lot, that its just audio and you can chat with other people about composing or technique. But, on the hush hush down low, I figured out that you can actually ask questions from some of the very best musicians on the planet and they'll actually go really overboard trying to help you, for free. Like! There are millions of dollars worth of music lessons happening right now and people are sleeping on it. I'm actually really stunned at how postive this vibe is and what it could do for the career of a budding musician in the right hands.
@MusicalElle He was under pressure and distracted while being hungry... happens to the best of us sometimes. But he can play them all if he finds their music.
Hi Ray! I went to your performance on Saturday when you played Brahms with the PSO! It was the best concert I have ever seen! I saw an article by the Pittsburgh Post critiquing your performance. That article was false, undeserved, and idiotic. You poured your heart and soul into your concerto, and it was very clear. Brahms would have been amazed. For them to say that is just wrong, they obviously know nothing about violin! I hope I can hear you play again soon! 💖💖💖
Ray here me out. On tonic while practicing you should make an metronome so I don't have to use 2 phones to record my progress on tonic and also run metronome in background on an different phone. If I could do it on 1 phone it would be amazing :D
This video has created some serious homework to do. Today I dedicated to learn from Alfredo Catalani. Had never heard of him, but I can say it is a very pleasant discovery! Very good orchestrator from the second half of the XIX Century, his tempi are slow, but he has his Bruckner-like moments of splendor. I recommend his Prelude for the fourth act of La Wally and his sweet and lovely "Contemplazione". I promise I will get into all the composers I heard for the first time here. Thanks a lot Ray!!
You inspired not only me, but every professional violinist watching you. You are unbelievable Ray. And you always smile and be kind to everyone. My blessings are with you and your family ❤️🙏
Italian boy here ! ‘Pasta la vista’ you may have taken it from “Hasta la vista” which is a way of saying goodbye in SPANISH 😂. I guess I have to give you some repeats Ray! 😂 Anyway some composers and types of pasta I think are unknown even to us Italians, never heard of them before ahahha
Ray is so funny! His violin is like his teddy bear! He can pick it up if he is feeling a bit insecure. We know Ray loves to WIN--even if it is a pasta/composer contest!!
His name is actually Franceso Maria Veracini, the names got mixed up there. A very virtuosic violinist and composer from the baroque times with quite a difficult personality.
The only reason I knew about Nino Rota is because he composed the music for a movie about St. Joseph of Cupertino that I love called The Reluctant Saint. I love the soundtrack so much that I scoured the internet for it on CD and found it! I highly recommend it!
Dude, i'm actually italian and this was pretty hard even for me XD So don't be too harsh on yourself, we have way too may types of pasta here in Italy lol
Hey Ray, I'm not sure if you could do this since you may not see this comment but I want to attempt to ask you anyway. Recently there has been some news spreading that Twosetviolin is quitting RUclips. We all have seen you in their videos before, so we assume that you guys are connected and are in touch with each other. Could you give us an update on what is going to happen with them? Their channel has currently been inactive for 3 weeks, and nobody really knows what is going on now. It would be great if you could make not only a reply to this comment but also a video about it as well, since I think many people want to know about the state of Brett and Eddy right now and their RUclips career. Thanks ❤
As an italian i got half of the questions wrong but please let me help you with something CH in italian makes a K sound it hurts me to hear it as an english CH sound.
If it let you feel better, I'm italian and it would be very hard for me as well! I didn't know a lot of types of pasta here... I would have passed tough even if I know almost nothing about italian composers 🤣
Good video, but they weren't early renaissance composers but early baroque (around 1600). The renaissance began with a lot of french and Flemish composer's and Italians took over the 2nd half of the Renaissance and then introduced the baroque music
Ray chen , It would be great if you made a video concerning the Russian bow hold. For my teachers have bugged me about my straight Pinky and they jave insisted i switch back to Belgium, i like the Russian bow hold , I feel more relaxed, and I feel like I have better control. It would be great if made a video explaining your bow hold . Thank you
You can’t go your whole life without trying Vietnamese cuisine, Ray Chen! Come to Vietnam and devour all the food in Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll want to come back at least once a year! ... and... from then on, you’ll need to have a delicious bowl of PHỞ before stepping on stage for any Concerto performance hahaaa
Hi Ray, Brissy mum here. I'll come and see you when you play in Brisbane. I am unscribing from all US located channels. Love your work but trying to get the US out of my feed ...i am joining a local branch of a polictical party so i can do my but to make sure a persons character is fundamental to preselection.

Looking forward to French baroque composer vs French cheese

Pro tip: If it ends in “-elli” or “-lli”, it’s very likely it’s a type of pasta. Same thing goes for “-ine” or “-one/oni” or something similar.

Or maybe it's like Paganini Vs Panini.
My thoughts exactly! I'm betting on Composer VS. Some fake version that's supposed to be remotely close.
