Fender killed it with this one! I love 70's Fenders I know they get hate for their sloppy tolerances but they are still amazing guitars! Those wide range pickups with the Les Paul controls plus the 70's headstock, killer guitar! The only change I would make is a flatter neck radius at least a 12".
I would love for you to check out the LTD 87 custom horizon in candy apple red. Nobody has done a review on it. You would be the first to do it for sure
I love your ability to recall the past with such clarity! I'm around your age and remember 1980 clearly when I purchased a SH Ibanez LP copy from the local 'Trading Post' newspaper for $200.00, Australian dollars. Man, I adored that thing then!
Hi Steve, it’s been a while since I watched your videos. I forgotten how enjoyable they are. I randomly came across you on this one you were talking about how well those fender pick up sound as it came through the TV. It did sound good for me but I like the way the Guitar lookednice looking Guitar and you play so well, my friend I’m like you I have a lot of Guitars I was on a kick where I bought like eight or nine Gibson’s in a row and then I went back to a Stratocaster and I love it. I love fenders.
Love that headstock, it's great with the body shape it actually looks like it fits the all the all together structure. Sounds like it's a real beast, I've played a nice telecaster b4, but I had to do all this extra stuff with the tuner bits and bobs ..just to change strings. Tunes up good, stays there.
I love all the guitars you feature, but the REAL 'feature' is your playing. NEVER disappoints me. Consistantly HIGH level touch. I have a similar early classic vibe Squire with the Duncan design P90s. I love it, but would love it more with single tone & volume.
That little bit of the beginning of War Pigs was worth missing a few drinks! Magnificent sounding Telecaster, possibly the best I’ve ever heard. Thank you Steve!
Very nice. I almost purchased the Fender American Vintage 2 1975 Telecaster Deluxe in 3 tone Sunburst over a year ago. I ended up getting the Ultra Luxe in 2 tone Sunburst instead with the stainless steel frets.
When I was a kid my Dad used to play with a guy who had one of these but black. He used to leave it at the house in the dining room but locked the case. So. . . . . . . . . . I figured out how to get into it with a paper clip. Ha!
Really enjoy your show Steve, been watching for a while now, I was wondering did you take lessons growing up or are you self taught ? You play some pretty complex runs and sweeps, Chords etc, and was wondering if you developed your playing ability from being such an EVH fan and other players you looked up too, or if you had an actual teacher. Thank you again I really enjoy the show. Thanks E.L.
Steve, after playing that ebony Epiphone custom i don't feel you should be switching guitars anymore 😅 it's a great sounding guitar. I bought a 2023 Gibson Les Paul custom and believe me it sounds very close but i had to own a Gibson just for the name... I know 😂
Where was there a flea market in Norton? 🤔 I’m not big on Tele’s but that one is the one that might convert me. (Tho in my opinion, it’s not REALLY a Tele)
By the time these PU's were made Seth Lover was fed up with Gibson and was offered a good deal from Fender. He was determined to make a HB that was better than the PAF that he invented. The reason why they are bigger then a PAF was to pickup a wider field so that they would be fatter and fuller.
Oh man, I always loved the Tele Deluxe. Hopefully those pickups are as good as the originals. Any chance you could accidentally put MY address on the return label?
Nope, nope, nope. I can't stand the 70s headstock on any guitar but especially on a Tele. Clearly, my colleague Mike Mercer here disagrees. To each their own, of course.
A MIM for $1100, too funny, Four yrs ago, that configuration was $650 - with a tele neck an only slightly different pups. Oh, no that's the normal set up of old Mexico because I got a few like that (again 4 yrs ago+) Nothing changed re: quality, and is why it was returned. Previous buyer couldn't fix the MIM setup or didn't know how.
Teles are great guitars in terms of tone and playability. But they are also ugly AF and that's a deal breaker. These 70s versions are not as bad looking as the traditional 50s style half pickguard models, but still not great. The aesthetic matters.
I don't get Fender not updating to 4 bolt on the 70s guitars. Fender would sell way more. Who buys that for 3 bolts, not me. Resale is horrid, etc... The layout is awesome, but no 3 bolts here.

The Tele headstocks to me were getting smaller and smaller over time, this one has a huge one
A Tele with the big headstock? WIN!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

I love your videos! Thank you for taking the time to post these. 💯
What's up dude !! Always put a big smile on my face . You are the only guy who make Monday a great day !!

Wow ! Really dig it!

Beautiful guitar 🎸 🎉❤ there again. U play a mean tele, I watch to hear u play! Love ya ❤
My Favorite Strat is a 78 with grey bottom pickups and the U neck. I absolutely love it.
I used to go to that Norton flea market. Got bootleg albums and cassettes there!
one of the zipper pulls on the gig bag is shaped like a pick...thats a nice little extra touch
The 70's series fender teles, these are monsters! I want one in black with the maple fretboard. Great riff choices Steve! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, full on with the 3 bolt neck. Nice!
Easily my fave instrument you've featured. Easily. I'm buying one. So in love.
That little bit of the beginning of War Pigs was worth missing a few drinks! Magnificent sounding Telecaster, possibly the best I’ve ever heard. Thank you Steve!
It made sense for the deluxe telecaster to have a strat headstock it just suits the style much better
What a nice looking and sounding guitar
When i saw that guitar, first thougth that comes in my mind PAT TRAVERS. i love that guitars.
Status Quo used the Telecaster single coils. The Status Quo were the Telecaster in the UK at least.
Hi Steve, nice guitar🎉🎉🎉
What a sweet guitar. Love it. Pickups are good 💯 Take care have a good one 😎✌️🎸💯

Thanks, take care. 🤘
That Tele has a trem. That makes it interesting to dive bombers.
Wasn't aware of the history of that model. Looks and sounds cool to me.
I have one it plays nice and sound good
I like that! Sweet pickups! I said I was not going to buy any more guitars! I need someone to give me one of these!!
Nice looking guitar.
Yeah man once again we should all probably thank, Seth Lover!
Sounds great
Fender stratocaster are so good

I've never heard of that brand before. Are they any good?
Cool 🤘
Sweet

🤟
The strat headstock seems to beef up that tone. Looks crazy to me
🤟BINGO🤘 😀

CBS wanted better brand recognition with their product. Especially on TV.
I don't get why they would go with the 3 bolt neck, everyone always hated that.
Waaaaa O.M.G i forgot the oil on the salad 😮..O.K, done, let's see what else we have here
Yngwie would instantly turn that into a 4 bolt ;)
A tele deluxe. Awesome guitar SFB
Say what 🎉
Hmmmmm do i really look at a three bolt stratelli 😂
Funny… when you record the Squier equivalent you really don’t hear any difference. 🧐 💰 Savings.
Where is your cat?
no arm contour? hmm....
Looks like TV yellow... ¡¥¡
Oh no... a gigbag. Red flag

I do Not appreciate you reminding me of the fat ties of my youth

Took me a long time to come around to tele’s. I still don’t love them or like them but you at least need 1
