When I was gigging, was having a conversation about electrical noise with some guys at work. A young Elec Eng (EE) piped up “Well, just don’t play in places that have dirty electrical nosie”. Just looked at him and smiled :)
I have a 1997 MIJ with noiseless pickups I added. It's literally my favorite guitar!!! I didn't know how well I was going to like the noiseless Seymore Duncan and they sound absolutely phenomenal! I thought Id miss the distortion and gain but not at all! Really nice Steve!!! Please do a demo of the HSS version of this model!!!!!
Nice Strat, Im a Strat guy too... Could really hear the difference in the pickup switch tones when you were switching during the clean patch playing. Nice work Dude!
I just a Fender Steve Lacy Strat with noiseless Alnico V's that are wound hot and with a center push on the tone pot that activates an internal fuzz circuit. Never been a Strat guy but I am really liking this incarnation. Still not a fan of the 2 and 4 positions though.
Hi Steve, could you please advise on the THU patches that you use or provide a link with download advice. Be much appreciated. Cheers from the NE of England 🙂
Hi there ive owned two of those the same color but i just wanted standards Americans ones and they play so good ive owned Buddy guys polka doys standards and a noisless single coils also Buddy giy with active pickups it was great the older standard lace sensors the 1st gen
$100 guitar could sound great with all those effects. so tired of people not showing us what the guitar actually sounds like without being all dressed up with guitar pedal effects.
@@DouglasThomas-kx6gj well im sure he can go without all the effects and still get the job done. Its a show show … man he’s going to dress it up so everyone that listens, that’s not as guitar savvy as some of us. Get to hear it sound like that. Yes i get where u are coming from bud. I feel ya. Have a good one. 👍
I’ve always been on the fence about who my favorite guitar player is…… It’s Steve from Boston! For me from now on. Hey bud you dam sure play a mean strat! I listen too his podcast just so i can hear him riff out!
Fender noiseless single coil pickups are Awesome. They are a game changer for working musicians. Personally love the vintage noiseless. And keep the originals in vintage guitars that stay home.
I had a 90’s but a chunk of the paint chipped off. A chunk. During practice, singer and lead player just looked over at me. Started laughing. They pointed at floor ad a chunk the width of a fist had chipped off the back. Horrible QC. BUT, they guitar played like a dream and the Lace (Blue, Silver, Red) were fantastic. Still remember that guitar. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Nice! Last year, Black Friday sale, scored a Fender loaded pick guard 1/2 price. Noiseless neck and middle, Shawbucker 1 bridge. I love them. The Shawbucker 1 is lower output and pairs well with the noiseless.
I have both a Strat Ultra Luxe and Tele Ultra. I play clean only, and I love the Noiseless pickups. I can't tolerate any hum. I also replaced the V-mod II pickups in my Pro II Tele with Gen 4 Noiseless pickups. It sounds great to me as well.
I did not add any noise suppression, BUT, TH-U does have a global noise gate and I keep that on and at the absolute minimum (or it will choke notes). In my testing, single coil hum can easily bust through it. It's more for noise created by the signal chain, not the guitar.
@@SFBGuitar Thanks Steve. I find the same, I use a light always-on noise gate through my Gen 3 Katana Artist but 60 cycle hum rears its hissy head in on high gain settings. Great demo, rock on.
The processed high gain and echo and delay setting is nice but can we hear the guitar stripped away of all that too, bare-bones clean, no delay or reverb, please? With all those effects every guitar you demo sounds exactly the same.
That strat sounds very nice. I would be interested in hearing your review of the prs se NF3. I tryed one and was very impressed by its single coil tones.
After 25 years, I switched from Sperzel locking tuners to Fender locking tuners. The Fender tuners are much better. The early Sperzels were not the best. I had them on my Telecaster in 1989 too.
For the record, Fender began putting rosewood fretboards on Strats in 1959. I have a Custom Shop 59 Reissue and the color of its burst is more amber/butterscotch than the more modern color on your guitar 🎸. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎵🩷⭐️
Sounds like those noiseless pickups are pretty high output because they sound naturally thick and muscular for a Strat. Sounds great but maybe not entirely traditional. Then again that could also be colored by your signal chain.
That's relative humidity. Absolute humidity is measured by dew point. Any dew point below 50F is fairly dry. The day I shot this video the dew point was 8F. Right now, the outdoor temp is 32.7 with a relative humidity of 98%, making for a dew point of 32.2F. Here in the studio, the temp is 71F with a relative humidity of 29% and a dew point of 38F (slightly higher than outdoors). Relative humidity is only representative of moisture as relative to the temperature. But most people don't keep their houses at 32F indoors.
@@SFBGuitar Great information. I did not consider the affects of the use of heat in the winter, I am from a high humidity area that has varying degrees winter temps.
Requesting another pointy guitar- I loved the flying v demo if you could do an explorer shape that would be great like the zzounds sparkle explorer or maybe an LTD Phoenix
I'm glad they seem to have done away with the nitro-cellulose fretboard! I HATE the one on my Fender 2019 Player Series Strat. :/ Gonna swap it out with a second-hand Warmoth neck.
Noiseless pickups suck, in my opinion. They're lifeless, and dull. They don't have that Strat single coil spank and brightness. I've got a Strat Player Plus, with neck and middle being the noiseless single coils, and a humbucker. The humbucker sucks as well! It got like this ice picky quality to it, and the more gain you add to it, the worse it sounds. Whenever I'm able, I'm gonna switch out the pups. I already have the neck and middle pickups to put in. I was thinking about putting a Seymour Duncan JB, as well.

Glad you pick the 3 single coil. I was wanting to check out the newer noiseless.
Nice demo. A comparison of an OG single coil strat vs this one would be instructive.
Sounds great! And I like your twist on the Voodoo Child lick!!
Pretty versatile Steve! And so is the guitar.
Thats a nice strat, but anyone else liking on the blue Vola on the wall?
i would love to know how Steve feels they compare!
You make me love Mondays, man!
I thought that was a two color sunburst. It's beautiful.
I have fender noiseless in several strats, they are great. I have the jeff beck hotnoiseless in a vintage vibe squier and its my favorite guitar.

No,..no it won't.
I wish it was true. My Squier Affinity strat sounds terrible the more you push it.
I can’t deal with that volume knob next to the bridge. I had Warmoth build me pickguards using the 2 tone locations only.
Just pull the knob off
Umm guitarists have dealt with that for 60 years.......but you can't handle that???
@ no, it sucks.
@@truckercowboyed2638 I find it annoying myself.
I don’t like it either.
My 1995 G&L legacy has Lace Holy Grail single coils. It's the best Electric I've ever played.
Strong video- thanks SFB!

I have a 91 strat plus with gold lace sensors, sound great.

I want a player plus, but I have a feeling they are coming out with player plus 2 pretty soon, mostly to incorporate rosewood, like the player 2's.

I play my Strat exclusively on clean. I can't figure out why no one else is like that.
@f3uibeghardt522 u and me both brother
Sounds really good, its a beautiful guitar. Just curious, did you use any added noise suppression in THU?

They're essentially stacked humbuckers. That's why they have a fuller and warmer sound.
I thought the noise & hum is part of the experience.
You’re talking about my wife? 🤭
@ I would never 🤠
…to a point
Texas Special are the best single coil pickups Fender ever made. Next to the 60th anniversary Special strat pickups
Your videos are like church for me, except it's on Mondays haha.
Great videos as always. ^_^

Dang... Steve, you started an hour ago... I'm missing out... 10am Denver time ¡¥¡
I cant stsnd the noise. Especially with a lot of gain.
LACE sensors were great.
Check out down under Australian JJ'S super pickups
Soon the volume knob will be on the other side of the pickup! 🙂
It is impressive. I had the first generation PU's and they sucked. Zero chime, just mud.
This thing lacks of stainless steel frets. They should upgrade all ultra range and not only the ultra luxe
