My uncle passed a few months ago, he was just over 100. And yes when I met him when I was a kid visiting London I had to be told to stop bugging him and asking questions about him playing with them. The 14th of June 1965 was an epic day for Paul McCartney. The Beatles morning session produced, I've Just Seen A Face. The afternoon session yielded the B side to the upcoming single (A side Help!) with the song I'm Down. Oh yeah, the evening session delivered Paul's timeless masterpiece Yesterday. 2. Ticket to Ride (groundbreaking musically)

"I've Just Seen a Face" is my favorite song on this side as well. Many Americans wrongly believed that I've Just Seen a Face was recorded during the Rubber Soul sessions because Capitol Records placed the song as the opener track on the US version of Rubber Soul. But British fans got to enjoy the song on the U.K. EMI record for Help! I've just Seen a Face feels like it belongs on Rubber Soul, as it is so acoustic and natural. The runaway pacing of I've Just Seen a Face feels like young love or infatuation. As a young man, you see a young pretty girl and she looks cute, and soon you can't get her face out of your mind. She's all you think about. That's what I've Just Seen a Face is about. The frenetic energy of a young puppy-love crush. It's an adorable song!

I am going to turn 66 on Friday and there will be no funny card from him in the mail. If there is....I'll find a shrink real soon lol. But Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away...why he had to go I don;t know he wouldn't say...that'll get you every time, and Love was such an easy game to play. The three songs on the album I'll go with is Yesterday, Ticket to Ride, and Help, in that order. Turns out it was a guy named Mitch Weissman and he played Paul McCartney in the stage show Beatlemania. When the interview ended he performed Yesterday. I was awestruck. No music had ever made me feel the way I felt then. I immediately sought out everything 'Beatles'. Forty five years later they are still my favorite band. I love how you express how these songs make you feel, like how playing "I've Just Seen a Face" is like giving yourself a present. The first song that comes to mind when you ask if we have songs like that is an obscure Genesis song called "Stagnation"; it has a particular moment when the whole band comes in after being quiet for a while, it always improves my mood.

Wonderful!! You're always a joy to watch and listen to. I'm glad you came back with Side 2 so quickly. Thank you!! It was amazing how back in the day Paul could knock off a brilliant song like "I've Just Seen a Face" and it would only exist as an album cut and never be released as a single. As for "Dizzy, Miss Lizzy," much like "Mr. Moonlight," it was an accurate cover of a record that appealed to John and the lads but didn't quite fit in with the tone of their original tracks at the time. But kudos to John for carrying on a with a favorite he probably played a thousand times on stage in Hamburg.

You’re definitely right that’s it’s gonna be great year for us all. I love your reactions and Help is the first turning point for the Beatles for the fact it was their last Beatlemania album sound and the first album to include a song that’s not about love. One of my top 3 albums by them.
Now for my top 3 songs on this album:
You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away
    I Need You
You’re Going To Lose That Girl
    (Not in any particular order)

Regarding "Put Me in the Movies" -- 1) Ringo loved country music. In fact, at one point before he became part of the Beatles, he'd made plans for a move to Texas so he could join a C&W band! 2) It's also a nice irony that this song is on the Help album, and Ringo was the primary protagonist of the movie Help!

  • @erikdolnack2737

"Act Naturally" is a cover of Buck Owens of TV's Hee-Haw fame. The Help! album was the last Beatles album to feature cover versions from other artists. With Rubber Soul the Beatles would only record their own songs. Personally, the Beatles were such great song-writers that I never understood why they did so many covers.

Remember, the Beatles started out as a cover band. Paul has openly said the reason they started to perform songs they’d written themselves was so that other bands wouldn’t be able to copy their set lists. Until Help! they just didn’t have enough material of their own.
Plus they just loved playing songs they loved.

I love when people discover the best music group ever. Are they my favorite group? No. But they are the best. For us in the states these guys were everything and always on the radio for eight years. They were the primary reason that guys stopped greasing their hair and went more natural. They were at #1 for 132 weeks. That's like two and a half years. At #1! They had songs that spent months at #1. There were songs that didn't make it to the top because of another of their songs wouldn't get out of the way. The made a couple movie length music videos Hard days night, and Help. Not much plot just the lads pretty much being themselves. The made a cartoon yellow submarine. They had a rip-off Saturday morning cartoon series that was just
to play their music. They filmed their recording sessions and they were turned into movies. Amazing! They lost hundreds of millions of dollars because they didn't have control of their work. Like I said not my favorite group but the best. Thanks for enlightening the public.
Here's a tip that might help you. Get a little closer to the camera. Nobody wants to see that wall and sofa behind you. The focus should be on you!

I've never understood why John said that "It's Only Love" was despised by him calling it rubbish. I think it's a wonderful little number. Paul vocally had a broader range than John probably but too my ears I think that John had maybe the most raw, punch you in the gut vocal abilities ever. You could her and feel the emotions in his vocals. I've Just Seen A Face" great song by Paul and then there's Paul's "Yesterday" the most covered dong in the history of recorded music. As of this time there have been around 3,000 covers of this song. What can I say except as Forrest Gump would say "That's all I've got too say about that" As always great breakdown musically Crystal. ☮️✌️💕
