I don't think josh should replace you, he should get his own mini series though
I will subscribe him
*maxi series 🤔
If he does .. Please link me in
After watching this im be Exhausted.
Well, he can not fit in Alex's shoes.
I love how you show this project as a real project, with all the problems and frustration..much better than some series where they make it look unrealistically easy
I love these guys at rotary revs. Top dudes!
Yeah this is one of my favorite series on this channel because of those dudes.
Alex can worship those Northern gods
Agreed!.
I wish I was based in the UK, and could afford to keep a car like this...
panzerveps why would u wana be based in uk? 😂
10:50 Sabotaged by Mitsubishi!! XD
Well done OMG 😱
You expect Mazda to make everything by themselves?
Well at least now they are not sold To Renault like Mitsu haha
YOU SEEN IT TOO
They are cheaper from the Mitsubishi dealer as well. No rotary tax.
Just team-up already. You guys have awesome chemistry. Car Throttle ARE YOU LISTENING.
So true tho
Should’ve went to Harry’s
Hector running 3 Honda civics with spoon engines
are they going to do a cost breakdown once finished with the build ? I hope so, i'm curious how much all this cost... :D
Doubt it, somehow, knowing how expensive rotary work is.
Complete engine rebuild is at least 3000pound
Still not terrible compared to most other LS or v8 engine rebuilds. Hell even 2j's
@@creverett9 a LS or near any piston build is a easy DIY for someone who wants to try.
A rotary even more so a rensis like in the RX8 you likely will try many many times before getting a usable build. Even more so to get longevity.
Just the basic rotor seals are hundreds of dollars like 400 us just for good apex seals not including corner seals and side seals.
Also usually just as seen a few episodes ago a lot of main componants need replaced.
You can save tons going DIY on piston builds. Rotary not so much. If you dont want to open shop for rebuilds on a rotary dont bother learning unless you got money or patients.
@@creverett9 Pretty terrible when you consider it needs doing every 100k miles or so. However as someone who's been looking at buying a rx8 for a while it would be very interesting to know how much it costs to repair one to a high standard.
Still think it needs a 4 rotor
Let's give Rob Dahm a call and see if these guys collab this would be a mental sleeper build
@@markusandrejeff5708 and it would never get done
It needs a cummins
Just shove a 787b engine in there.
Everything needs a 4 rotor but that doesnt make it an easy job lol
I can feel alex's enthusiasm through my monitor
Why does the guy at rolling roads always seem like he hates you 😂😂😂
He s afaid of the camera.
nah its just a persona charlie puts on for the camera , think its quite funny myself
I get the impression he probably hates everyone
He doesn't like humans.
he dosnt like saabs either , leaves the traction control *ON* AND GIVES YOU A POWER RUN 10-15% DOWN ON ACTUAL BHP
Wowwowowow that fuel pump replacement is so convenient on RX-8's
I believe it's the same on some bmws like the e46
It is but if its coupe good luck taking the rear seats out :)
because the designers knew it would fail multiple times :)
Matty Man that’s a Japanese car for you.

When seeing this series, there is one question I have to ask:
Why didn't you wash the car?
Sleeper effect.
Yeah...exhaust popping...in a few days your engine will aswell hahaha

Those flames
May as well flex that rotary inefficiency!

Hanging out for these episodes every week!
I know the weather can be pretty avg in the UK, but can you please give that thing abit of a polish =(
MrLincoln87 it’s the grit on the roads this time of year as well to be honest, I wish they’d stop gritting so much and introduce winter tyre laws instead.
The grit they use in this country is evil, it’s the reason we get so much rust in the uk, that’s why my MX5 hibernates for the winter
We use salt in Canada and that ruins cars
Connor Grosse Films I’m not sure exactly what is used here but it must have a high salt content, everyone just calls it grit, because that what it sounds like as it hits your car as it comes out of the spreader at about 1 billion mph. 🙄🙄
It's salt over here too, but in horrendous volumes. My car is white everytime I drive 100-200km when it's slightly wet (snowing/raining). If it doesn't rain or snow for days, the motorways are completely white from all the salt.
In my opinion they use way too much of it.
Every time it breaks, its another week and another episode!! This series will never end!!
bro you should add like a twin turbo and a supercharger and a hybrid system
it upgrades reliability by like +15
twin charge is a bitch to go around
My question is why does the ford Galaxy have a fan club?
hero13400 0 they’ve had a fan club ever since ford slapped a 428 under the hood
Im not an expert but from what I've heard the RX-8 motors do not like boost and you can't really make good power with them. If you want boost you need a 13-b from an RX-7
Dylan ah we got the Galaxie Which was the full size sedan I believe, damn I didn’t even know the galaxy existed

Wow, just the edits and you guys awesome personality was enough for me to insta sub.
Fun fact about bridgeported renesis’ and lightened Renesis rotors. Porting literally does next to nothing for power, the engine is already maxed out. There is plenty of info to support this, but also, there is plenty of false info being thrown around that says otherwise.
As for lightened Renesis rotors, while lightening will allow for quicker revs, they are very unbalanced. This will lead to excessive bearing wear and possibly housing and iron damage. The problem is that Renesis rotors do not have enough material to both lighten AND balance, so you need to pick and choose what you actually want. I sent my Rx8 rotors to CLR motorsports who explains all of this in this video: ruclips.net/video/HahComhZR9c/видео.html
This may have been done in the video already, but when dynoing an RX-8 the ABS system needs to be disabled. More info here: www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/diy-how-dyno-rx8-132083/
*Also clean your SSV while the intake is off if it wasn’t done already
Nate Rist funny that because my bridged renesis makes 215whp and is definitely quicker than stock, I have the lightened and balanced rotating assembly to and have no problems as of yet, Rotary revs also tuned and built my engine and couldn’t be happier with it
MegaBigrob123 the rotary is complete dog turd pal, buy an Evo or something that works.
L
Paul Sykes you’ve obviously never owned an evo cause they are horribly unreliable 😂
No it doesn’t, uncalibrated or altered dyno results are not at all uncommon, porting WILL NOT make any considerable power over stock in a Renesis period. If you knew anything about the Renesis you’d know that. But enjoy your placebo I guess
Alex, you nailed it with this series. I was getting quite sceptical with the beemer and 'track time to beat' series, but how wrong can a man be :). Cracking job, mate.
Cheers man!
10:55 well there's your problem right there. It's got a Mitsubishi logo on it.
Those solenoids are real buggers! I replaced mine and wow. The power increase was incredible. I recommend disconnecting the VFAD too

incredibly honourable of the Rotary Revs guys to be OK with you posting this vid. 1:19 I thought that was a Mazdaspeed RX7 on the lift for a second. My favourite RX7 kit by far. Although upon examination it seems to be a GT-C bumper. Still very nice.
He can't replace you because he can't fit in a MX-5
my 2017 zx10r makes almost exactly the same horsepower to the wheel mine was 192 to the wheel god i love those rotary engines the sound is insane and the pops and bangs son!!!!
How can the host's voice sound funny and so serious AT THE SAME TIME?
That little solenoid you replaced will fix the issue without a shadow of a doubt. That torque dip area is boxed in absolutely precisely between the activation of the secondary and the auxiliary ports. Essentially what you have going on there is two of your 6 ports being closed off, so you're at a little more than 2/3 of your final power. I'd expect to see well over 220 at the next dyno run!
It would be fun to do a BMW E39 project.
Nah... Turbo E36 is where it's at.
M52 cast iron engine with a good sized turbo, that would be nice. ^^

these vids at rotary revs have been some of the best vids. that guy woud make a brilliant presenter 😂
This is what happens when you buy a 650 quid used car.. Everything needs replacement. You cannot be expecting perfection from a 650 quid ruined car. If you bought a more decent used RX-8 it would be up and running like a champ. This also applies for every car, not just a rotary one.. Maintenance is A to Z in every car of every type and class and this poor RX-8 was owned in the past, from someone that did not care at all for it. I have mine 12,5 years now and through the right maintenance over the years I had no problem with it. Everything runs 100%, it is an awesome car to drive and I love it.
A 650 quid car is doomed from the beggining to have issues, no matter the badge on the hood..
KbaltRX but they make more videos and more money by buying a shit car that needs a lot of work

>buys a shitty rx8
>expects everything to work after he fixes one of the problems
>doesnt improve airflow, only bridgeports
>expects more power
Yes it is very possible.
This is probably the reason for the poor placement of the rotary engine , not only here but for a large number of RX models , and even NSU .
First , it is learned that the engine is small , compact , develops tremendous power , develops a very high speed of rotation , even less polluted if the speed is higher .......... so then the car overfalls so that , of course , the machine bursts ! .
How could anyone replace Alex, he’s great. Very underrated presenter
How ironic is the fact that he is wearing a shirt with a *piston* on it.
As soon as I saw the graph and heard it on the Dyno, the “crossover”, I figured it was that valve. Lol I did not know that these came with that though. Interesting.

330ci is still the better budget sport car, tho.
Anything is a better budget sport car. It's cheap to get, because it's goddamn expensive to keep and to fix.
@@miskatonic6210 They are cheap in the US, its sub $5k for a recently rebuilt one. I paid under $4k for mine, and its doing great! I've had to change coil packs and spark plugs (and tires, and brake pads, and oil obviously, and strangely 1 headlight and 1 running light), but otherwise rev it like you're a lunatic, and you won't really have much of an issue.
They seem to be much more reliable than many modern cars (mechanically speaking, there's not much to them, no timing chain, no overhead valves, basically a spinning triangle on a gear with an oil pump...). The thing about a rotary engine is, you can blow apex seals and as long as you don't shut it off, they will keep putting the power down (which is why they are sometimes used for aircraft). Even when both coil packs failed on 1 rotor, it still drove (I had it towed out of fear it was more serious, but I hooked up an OBD scanner and saw misfire on rotor 1, coupled with the fact it sounded like half my engine just stopped, pretty much meant coil pack or spark plug). I replaced both since I think the spark plugs were the original, and those being worn out cause coil packs to wear out fast too. That's been my only problem, so not bad. I know a lot more people with a lot more severe issues on new cars, and I bet none of those would survive my horrible shifting (if shifting is what you call that grinding sound I often make...), and I keep it pretty well pegged on the RPM (I don't think many cars would last running like a rotary can).
Its a special engine, you need to drive it different (just like a jet engine requires different things, or how electric cars needing completely different maintenance than a gasoline or diesel). So you just treat it differently, in the case of a rotary, its "drive it like a getaway vehicle", and it will last a long time.
It’s not a sports car, it’s a 2 door saloon.
Noone could replace you Alex...You are in our hearts!!!
