Double up with plant growth for the other choke point which reduces their speed to ¼.
Have your druid wild shape into spider and place 🕸️ web to stack with the plant growth making the speed ⅛.
Spike growth becomes the "good" option for them.
Profit.
plant growth already quarters your movement so with web and spike growth it would be 1/16th
@@TheKabukimann I wonder if you could add spirit guardians to that for 1/32nd?
about Karlach attaching your main hero, you still had the attack action selected when you tried to select your main. thats why she attacked him. Ive done that so many times in my games. The real kick to the nuts is healing the enemy XD
I’ve recently learned why but it still upsets me looool
it absolutely sucks when it happens, blew my big boi heal spell on the enemy. I was so pissed at myself. XD @@OffbeatOutlaw
@@legendary110 This is why i use F1-F4 to choose my char and not clicking on portraits lol
I almost cast Inflict Wounds Lvl 2 on Astarion. Never been so happy to miss an attack.
I learned that attacking literally nothing more than once
Don't have access to spike growth in my playthrough, but I did just learn that enemies LOVE to walk through wall of fire! It's like their hobby
One time in a D&D Campaign we were fighting a vampire lord. We threw down spike growth and sunlight. Fight lasted 5 rounds and it was just us pushing and pulling the vampire lord around inside the spike growth until he finally died.
Cheese grating a fight is always fun. Make sure you added it to some garlic bread, just to be safe.
LMAO! That sounds like a bullying incident at school. 😂😂😂
Yeah, I have a genie Warlock with the Dao patron. I like to chat Spike growth, then use Eldritch blast with the pushing and pulling invocations to just rip them through it multiple times per turn 😂
spike growth is my go to spell, until they enemy decides to just jump out/over it 😢
It is very easy to get thunderwave on basically any soellcaster. Great for pushing them back onto it, but note that the spell loves to catch adjacent allies so you gotta watch what it's doing
Evocation wizard gale is bae
It’s hilarious watching enemies be yeeted into a pit of lava or into an abyss, never to be seen again
Glad to see someone else showing off how great spike growth can be. I've been getting a lot of use out of Spike growth in my playthrough. However, I've been using it with my Ranger and use my animal companion as the bait, as the Bear summon from animal companion class action has a Taunt ability. (only downside of Spike growth on Rangers is they have less spell slots, and don't learn Spike growth until level 5, where a druid gets access to spike growth at level 3)
BTW this is something from the larian game engine, you can target/hit things from clicking their portraits.
Title: *The Best Spell!*
Video: _How to attack your own character._
I feel like at later levels, this might be fun to match with Hunger of Hadar, for massive Damage over Time potential.
When he was alive, One of my best friends always saw the insane tactical beauty of spike growth. Can't wait to replicate his druid in his memory. ❤
"Today's sponsor, me." - got me dude take my money.
if you wildshape into a spider then you could cover your flank with concentration free webs.
Best spell is still guidance, with friends being a close second.
*missed void bulb throw not hitting the target he wanted
offbeat outlaw: sometime wyll fuckup
Happens to the best of us
Plant Growth+Hunger of hadar is great. They are slowed, blinded, take damage if they stand still, and take damage if they move.
Also, you can fire into it (especially with darkvision), but the enemies cannot sohot out of it (even with darkviion, because they are Blinded with no save).
"This is how to survive Tactician Mode!"
**nearly unalives self with Karlach attack**
It is so good to see you doing D&D videos again! I missed it!
Even Larian's balance improvements can't slow down the absolute powerhouse that is Druid!
Spores Druid in this is *particularly* good, due to raising zombies. And those zombies create more zombies. And they make friendly NPCs follow you into the quiet wilderness where they're easy to eliminate...
Yeah, a friend of mine and I have been playing together and with shove as a bonus action we push things all day. I knew spike growth was a spell, but i didnt expect it to get into gameplay so untouched. Need to go rescue that druid. (Got side tracked when we found out we could go to the underdark via the phase spider cave.
We are happy for all the video you gift us with
I kind of missed Wyll blasting them back into the spikes with EB & Pushback
*cues up an attack
*clicks on own character
*attacks own character
*visible confusion
Master tactician!
I DIDNT KNOW OK
I just shot down from highground, then took a step back into darkness my Wyll kept up, and a cloud of daggers on the choke/stairs they have to climb to get up. they either died fro mdagger cloud or will launched them with advantage from inside darkness to hold the high ground
Dark urge Hunter that goes in is on kill each turn with karlach and shadowheart don’t even need a 4th party member on tactician
You selected the attack action then clicked the portrait of your character. She just did what you told her to lol
I DIDNT KNOW THAT OK
@@OffbeatOutlaw Youre just jealous of her dance moves so were looking for anything to blame on her!
Amazing strat - I recommend the beast skill on karlach though as shell become extremely tanky in here rage form if you vhpoose the one that makes her resistant to all types of damage
Hi , just came to drop in and say, sanctuary is a bonus action lvl 1 spell.
You're welcome.
Also doesn't require concentration.
Personally I like the Ranger's (Ranger, Beast Tamer/Bounty Hunter) 'Hail of Thorns' spell... It totally obliterates an enemy... 'Spike growth' and 'conjure barrage' is also good.
Then again, once you have fireball...
YOU CAN HEAL BY THROWING THE POTION!?!?!?!?
If your warlock is lvl 5, spike growth plus hunger of hadar does WORK
I still say the most powerful spell in bg3 is friends. The amount of bullshit you can pull with it and a half decent persuasive character is insane
Spike growth was also monstrous in Solasta
Idea; Druid + Warlock multiclassing + 3 hirelings with the same builds;
You can lay down spike growth multiple places + everyone can eldritch blast the enemy back into the hell they are caught into
You also get hunger of hadar at lvl 5, and 2 eldritch blasts per character for twice the pushing.
@razziel4599 Hunger of Hadar saved me many times against Archers on ledges.
And later on you get a 3rd blast per use
seeing him hit his druid the first time was nice, means i wasnt the only one to find that out the hard way
because you had an action planned and clicked on an icon, it assumed that as the target
But im guessing due to you not seeming to cancel things much with right click
So there is a helmet that makes it to where if a person misses you, they take some dmg if you fail a dex save. We gave that to my paladin friend and now he has 25 ac and we are getting more stuff fo him to raise his ac
As an option, you can have Shadowheart cast Sanctuary on your druid after you put of spike growth to prevent them from being attacked, and then have your druid use the healing spells and items. That way they can maintain concentration without issue, and can still be useful despite Sanctuary preventing them from attacking others.
You're just holding a spell. The enemies are harming themselves. :)
spikegrowth is great and all, but enemies just jump over half of it lol
Shove em back in then
this encounter in particular(on balanced run). i covered the cliff side in grease, then all my chars hid over the edge so the enemy would have to climb up. they would walk forward, take pot shots and walk back. and if any made it to the top they were shoved/thunderwaved off. idk how tactician CPUs would react to this.
They would behave very similarly. Replacing the grease with spike growth they would be getting dealt damage the whole time 😎
good vid, great earphones. Meow!
My druid party did 4 spike growths in a line for that fight lol
THE ULTIMATE STRATEGY
Wait until he found out Black Hole power
Yeah new video
Btw ifnyou want a boring, but Effective way to play tactician mode, just play 4 Sharpshoter character, you are going to kill everthing in 1 turn in late game
as an avid hoarder, an anxous mess, and a self sabotager this fight took waaay to much resources. Poor Shadowhearth is almos out of spellslots. Great stategy aside from my personal taste tho.
Shadow hearts job is cast spike growth
But fire ball
When i got there on my solo play the big one pulled me out of combat and I had the option to option to order it to kill it own kin and the people in the cave I don't know how it happen tho so this fight was easy for me
I'm sorry if this is considered as spoiled
Honestly a series that sounds cool but I don't know how it actually work out if you importing some of your power builds into baldur's gate. And testing how viable they are. but I don't think that's how it works I wouldn't know because I don't have a PC
It actually translates pretty well from my playtesting.
Jefferson XD
meanwhile i just walk up with my monk and put the boss on the ground in 1 turn. LOL Or my Paladin will smite x2 with a potion of speed and gwm lol spike growth is nice but cloud of daggers is better if you ask me lol. also you can use minor illusion ti better group them up. That being said you are getting better at the game from when I first watched you play :)
p.s. if you were going to healing word karlach you shouldn't of wasted your action to help her up. waisted action econ :)
i have been going back and looking at builds from like 5-6 years back to come up with ideas. and without variant human, 90% of the older builds dont work right. and work arounds? i even looked at your "Um actually" build.. 10 reactions.. lol
Without variant human the builds get nerfed. The new races are also very strong.
Does Spike Growth + Plant Growth combo work in BG3 like it does in tabletop? Alternatively, Spike Growth and Grease?
Hunger of Hadar is this but better
I'm not in tactician mode but i struggle with the spike growth strat bc melee enemies tend to have good jump distance and everyone else has good ranged options. Its a lot more situational than I expected. Any advice?
It’s important to position the spikes near choke points so that even though they’re jumping they still have to get somewhere first before attacking. Placing melee fighters near the front the spikes will also allow them to pull agro
The direct answer is that good positiong is about denying the enemy alternative actions so it only has bad options left. This includes either placing chokepoints in ways where there's no LOS for ranged enemies, or having actions you can do to make jumping past spike growth a bad choice.
A secondary answer is that most Ground/Difficult/damage terrain have different tradeoff which works best on different enemies or situation so changing which terrain you are using is an option. In cases of people with super high mobility you can use Cloud of daggers which while smaller it can damages anyone who enters whether through walking/jumping/flying in addition to starting in the terrain. Or the Hunger of Hardar works well in small area while stopping ranged options but its damage is for people who start their turn in the terrain.
I know the best spell already. F5.
It can bend time and space allowing you and 4 creatures of your choice to return to a previous fixed point in time. Once doing so you can then transverse a different timeline alternate of the previous one you were in.
@@DeadpoolAli F5 = Omega13
Gale or Wyll work. Gnolls are too heavy for most shoves to work. you want thunder wave or wind to shove them back into the thorns. Thunderwave is a level one spell so too easy.
i wonder can you ignite the spike groth or if not stack it wif buring ground?
You can’t ignite the spike growth, which means you can ignite stuff under it!
Huh, I saw something online about creatures jumping over spike growth... is that dependent on creature type?
This dude blaming the characters for mistakes he made lol
I honestly feel just a regular greatweaponmaster fighter with haste, is to much optimization for tactian. The game is just to easy.
So this comment has NOTHING to do with this video or this specific content, buttttttttt should we be expecting more paperwork pantheon anytime soon??? I finally caught up and now I have nothing to listen to at work after catching up and finishing seven seas six idiots and this. And speaking of will we ever see more content with Marcus, balladboi, satine, piggly and bunny??? I can’t remember their real names 😂😂😂
Hopefully more pp game tonight!!!
@@OffbeatOutlaw I’m not caught up 😱 I got to ep 48 at the end of your playlist and was very sad but now today on the last day of my extended work week I have discovered ep 49 50 and 51. And also u more than likely don’t remember this, but I was in the live twitch chat for the first 3 episodes of seven seas six idiots and if I’m not mistaken I at one point paid u a certain number of points to roast my username. And I am now determined to go back and find that clip in the videos.
Why do you pronounce Flind like that
This fight really ain't that hard. Just walk up and do thing. Badabing, you've won the fight.
Jokes aside, respec Shadowheart to War Cleric and maintain Spirit Guardians while Bear Heart Karlach runs straight at the big bad. Add my husband, Astarion to the party instead of the that worthless bitch, Wyll, and you should just streamroll the fight. What's that? What class should you play then to round out the party? Well, Warlock, obviously. It's the only playable class. No other class exists for players, and any attempts to convince me otherwise will be met with vigorous head shaking and the plugging of my ears.
My first post-launch playthrough set-up was...
- Me: Dragonborn Great Old One Warlock and Crit-fishing, Eldritch Blasting extraordinaire.
- Astarion: My husband/Thief Rogue (I'm not a fan of Arcane Trickster in 5e or in BG3, and Thief gets two Bonus Actions per turn). He brings three major things to the party. Sass, a killer body, and the ability to effortlessly pick any lock he can get his sexy hands on.
- Shadowheart: War Domain Cleric and my party's off-tank. Unprepare any spell option that isn't a heal, Spirit Guardian, Warding Bond, or Remove Curse (For a puzzle in Act 3), because you ain't gonna need anything else. She's also the party's obligatory edgelord (Until the end of Act 2 if you play your cards right).
- Karlach: Bear Totem (Bear Heart) Barbarian. The main tank and party mule. She hits stuff... hard, and takes a LOT of damage. Bear Heart for near-universal Damage Resistance, Bear Aspect for increased Carry Weight and Strength check Advantage, Elk Aspect for increased Movement Speed.
The only time I EVER switched anybody out was so I could drag Halsin along with me to scare a child in Act 2. I also used Gale once in that playthrough to do some things a couple things in Act 3 (Mostly relating to using Lightning Spells on various puzzles, though I will not spoil which). Wyll stayed perma-stuck in camp because he, and his story, are basic and boring. Lae'zel was dead. It was me. I killed her... on site... because she's rude af.
