I say "not on parole" because parole is part of a sentence in which Rights can be suspended until said sentence is served. This could also extend to probation perhaps. If the felony is, oh, lying to federal officials, or state law enforcement, who legally can lie about almost anything to citizens w/ zero recourse? A 30 yr old commits some awful violence against her husband. She's old enough and supposed to be mature. If this is a planned murder or intentional homicide. Full sentence, then 10yrs in public again with NO other violence.

Should felons be able to earn back their ability to own/carry a firearm? For, this very much depends on the type of felony. If the felony is, oh, lying to federal officials, or state law enforcement, who legally can lie about almost anything to citizens w/ zero recourse? Damn right they can, as soon as their sentence, reduced or otherwise, is finished. Basically, non-violent crimes.
For violent crimes. Once released they might prove they won't re-offend for a designated time period, 3, 5, or 10yrs depending on the severity of their violent crime and maybe the age and circumstances of that action.
ie, if the guy in NY get convicted for trying to help other people? After his sentence ends, 3 yrs without another violence charge is good enough.
Let's say a teenager who really messes up, commits a murder wither IS or is charged as an adult. Possibly their sentence then 5yrs out w/ no charges of criminal violence. If the are ever convicted of ANY other crime/misdemeanors involving violence, they never get it back again.
A 30 yr old commits some awful violence against her husband. She's old enough and supposed to be mature. If this is a planned murder or intentional homicide. Full sentence, then 10yrs in public again with NO other violence.
Can we go back to the part where you want to release violent criminals from prison? Let's not do that, okay?

If it’s legal, it’s not called smuggling…. As to how much random citizens in the US should be directly involved in Geo political struggles, I think one the US should, but out of a certain number of the conflicts as long as they stay where they’re located, at which point it should be a strictly gray issue, and stay that way. And then we have to look at the conflicts that actually are relevant to us. At that points, I think it is reasonable for there to be some legal status on geo-political levels of not providing them aid. However, course the opposite is true when we are motivated for particular, and I would think civilians should be free to bolster that as much as they want however they want. But has nothing to do with buying your truckloads of guns in the US that has to do with when you try to freight them out of the US to whatever location.
As to the bodega owner, I am not sure why people aren’t already to the triple-S philosophy. They either are being prayed upon by gangs or gangs & the police so take the first option.

Andrew, the neat thing about believing gun rights are human rights is you don't have to worry so much about who you're talking about having them. Kind of sad there are two segments of "maybe I'm not such an absolutist after all." If what you mean is "me and my friends should have guns, but definitely not people I don't like," well, that's pretty much how Michael Bloomberg feels about it too.
