What do you struggle with when it comes to painting?
Let me know in the comments below and I will see what I can do to make a video on it!
Happy Painting.
I like to make paining. And thanks for this video. It is helpful for me bcoz i never paint with pallette knife. I paint with brush only. But after watch ur video. I use Palette knife. Thx..
I’m a righty how do I hold this palette knife
*I’ve purchased about $800 worth of paint, supplies, and easel, and I’m scared to actually start… I keep procrastinating. I’ve had everything for about 3 weeks now…* 😬
So not on topic, but I dumbly put liquin into my oil paints that was shipped busted, so I used a jar and put in liquin, but I didn’t realize it was fast drying. 😥 eeek
Is there anyway to come back or do I just buy more paint? It’s still pretty thick, but the painting I worked on last night was kinda already almost dry. Ugh 😩
Thanks in advance if you have time to answer and happen to see this

Glad my tips could help you out
Hi thank you for your video on doing a mountain with a pallet knife.
I'm very new to painting 🖌️🎨 I have someone to teach me only once a week on a Saturday morning but really would like more lessons. But I found the way you explained things helps a lot. I'm not using oil painting I'm using acrylic paint so if you have any tips on using that I would appreciate things like covering the canvas. I'm guessing it's probably liquid white paint and how much to put on as sometimes I think I over do it 😅 also is the basic the using Acrylic paint some as Oil painting ?
I look forward to hearing from you many thanks Phil
I will see what I can do about an acrylic mountain video in the future.
When it come to oil VS acrylics there are many basic techniques that are the same or can cross over. They best thing you can do is practice and get a feel for it.
I had so many little accidents on my first painting I did yesterday. (Not Bob Ross results but still very proud)
1. Mountain and snow was not working out at all
2. Every time I added white, it mixed with dark mountain color
3. My tree reflections against water was medicore.
4. Tapping with a brush to create a bush just created (cute) little blobs.
5. Cleaning brushes in the end was very complicated. The paint just wouldn't come off.
List goes on, so I'm going through the videos to try better next time. Thank you for sharing this kind of stuff! ~~
To support, bought two things through your affiliate links under other videos. Hope you can keep doing what you do!
All of those Happy Accidents are just lessons that will make your following paintings better and easier.

I got most things down, Wild, but I still can't seem to make my highlights look right after seven years of painting! It ain't because I'm "mushing" the paint, making mud, but this is the best way I can describe it my problem: Imagine I've done two paintings with highlights, then magically somehow swapped each highlight over the other one! The highlights just don't match what they're supposed to highlight. Any tips on why and how to correct, Wild? I'd be grateful for anything you can show how and why I ALWAYS make this mistake on every painting? Many thanks, Buddy. Alan J.
Send my a pic so I have a visual. BUT it sounds like you just need to be aware of where your light source is coming from. That will validate the highlights and where they sit in the landscape.
Many thanks for your reply, Wild, Really grateful for that, Buddy. Hope this pic of my typical c**p highlights can be attached! Not sure how to send the pic! Am lousy at I.T. almost as much as I am at painting. Have tried copy and paste in the text- no go! Nope, can't find any "attach" for the pic. How do I send it, Mate??
Sadly you can't send anything over RUclips. Feel free to send it to my Instagram or twitter. Found in the about me section of RUclips.
My pallete knife is a different shape but today im just starting to get the hang of it.
As soon as I touch the canvas with the thin roll of paint , the entire roll sticks to the point mountain which just leaves a blob of extra paint and doesn't allow me to pull/drag the paint across.
That generally means you are approaching the canvas with the flat side of the blade too much. Try approaching with a higher angle (This will only expose a tiny part of the paint roll )
same
Hi really enjoy your videos but am really struggling to get paint to break on mountains. It always leaves a blob of paint when i slide the knife down rather than it breaking. I've tried stiffening up the paint by putting it onto cardboard as per your tip - but that didnt work. Any more advice you could give me on this??? Thanks
I have a full video coming out in a few week on breaking down mountains and how to paint them. So be on the look out for that.
But until then use Winsor newton paint for breaks ( ruclips.net/user/shortsaDq-IvKcCMY?feature=share )
Also try slicing snow to start. Like I do in the video here: ruclips.net/user/shortsNuab4KRa3RE?feature=share
When I try to get the snow on, big glops of paint stick on to the peaks and ruin it. Thanks for the help!

What do you recommend as a place to showcase and/or sell the paintings we make? Etsy? Website?
The answer is BOTH.
I am actually working on a video that talks about this but it is still a few weeks out.

Dollar store sells pallet knives $1.25
Thats awesome - my Dollar store doesn't have that BUT I think my 5 below might.
Thanks for sharing.
@@WildCreates try dollar tree not store … sorry 😣
my dollar tree and dollar general had nothing... I will have to try another one maybe
@@WildCreates dang. You can’t check different locations either on an app like other stores.
That stinks. Maybe try another. I thought they all had them. My is just a rinky dink small one in a small town.
The one I bought was made by crafter’s square. They have a set of 3 online but they are plastic. I don’t see the metal ones.
@@WildCreates oh, btw their wooden bamboo cutting boards are great throw away palettes 😂
I don’t feel bad if I don’t clean it and chunk it if it gets too much stuff on it.
