      Hi Steve - yes I might rephrase the list! It was another lovely subscriber that asked me a while back if I would ever do a scene like this. So it needed a crash test dummy to give it a go. I think it came out better than expected. Strangely it looks almost photographic fom some angles! But I think its best viewed at a distance. Now I know why they hand some paintings highter up the wall! But thats a whole different conversation 😃😎 Have agreat week too and see you soon. 😃😎

    Hi Paul! I enjoyed watching this, and appreciate how many new tools, color combinations and techniques you used to create art that challenges us... I love learning about tools- I have a small thinner knife too, it was in the back of my brush drawer- an aha moment for me! I also like the rubber chisel tool! I need one and it’s on my “to get” list! I also appreciate the color recipes you share to get color combinations I never knew existed! Using lavender and yellow ochre to make grey? Wow! I am growing in confidence when you show us that pickles happen. And to accept them because they are learning points. Thank you! 😊 and yes I am a fiddleholic. I will add that term to my painter vocabulary!! I think by pressing on through the struggles and challenges you taught us so much more than if you had filmed it only after “perfection”.. maybe this is the golden nugget of progress. The struggle is real and very important for us to see in the process. It was very kind of Poppycat to step by and encourage you! Sweet! Thank you Paul, we learn so much from your tutorials! Happy painting! Have a great week and say hello to Teri, and the kitties.🤗😃🖌️🎨

    • @PaulRansonArt
      @PaulRansonArt  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Stephanie - Poppycats sitting by me and says 'meow' or is that 'wheres dinner' ... they sound the same. I like to mix it up a bit - and try new things. I think its especially important to see me as a novice and not an expert. I never learned a thing watching a perfect performance. Far better to see someone get in a mess and recover things - or try to. Yes, the Paynes Grey mix is lovely. It takes a little patience to get the right value which should be almost black at first glance. But when mixed with white produces the warmest grey tones. I mix mine to be almost as transparent as possible ( Ochre being opaque is the hiccup). ThenI use it as a thinned paint for a glaze to add a shaddow. You can buy Paynes grey as a pre mixed color so maybe easier just to buy some amd save the hassle. This week is punctuated by appointments and a million other things so my painting schedual is under pressure. We'll see what I can come up with. Maybe a Bob Ross classic .... Have a great week too and 'see you' soon - Love from us all here to you there! 🥰🥰😎

    • @SRTW67
      @SRTW67 2 месяца назад

      @@PaulRansonArt I love what you say, “I never learned a thing watching a perfect performance” it’s true for me too. One of the neat things about your teaching is that you’re human, with many years of experience in painting and that makes your tutorials achievable for us. I think people would ask Bob Ross how did he get so good, and he implied it took many years and many paintings. 🖌️🎨🤗😊

    SUPER PAUL I LOVED THIS VIDEO ALTHOUGH AT THE START I DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU COATED YOUR CANVAS IN THE SIENNA COLOR FOR EXAMPLE
    BUT A KNIFE PAINTING IS VERY BEAUTIFUL.. LOTS OF RELIEF..
    CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!

    • @PaulRansonArt
      @PaulRansonArt  2 месяца назад

      Hi Corinne - well the tones colour shows through on parts of the canvas I don't cover as much. It forms part of the finished painting. An extream example would be if I painted the canvas bright green. Every tiny missed part of the canvas would have a bright green spot of canvas. Also anthwhere the paint was thin would also be bright green. The sienna color is harmonious with the whole painting. Back in the days of the masters they would always tone their canvases. Their favourite colours would be like a trademark. Check out the work of Gainsborough - Have a super week - Paul 😃😎

    Hi Paul, creative idea I must admit. I haven't tried painting with a traditional palette knife yet. I used them in several effects with a landscape palette knife. Unfortunately, I don't use the Bob Ross because it's a bit moody in my hand and a bit too advanced. Instead, I use Jakson's art knife and a palette similar to bob rod. I have a small collection of those palette knives even Bob Ross. They are useful and practical. My brother and I are trying to make several variants of D.I.Y. Slow good progress so far. Another creative idea. And the picture is great, I would never have said that you paint like this for the first time if I hadn't seen the premiere. Maybe I'll try something like this myself. Until next time, happy painting, have a peaceful week and have a nice day.
    P.S. I really enjoyed the video. Darkness is the relaxation I need from studying.

    Also Paul i've been meaning to ask ,but what kind of printer do you own ? I want to buy a printer to also print photos and to trace the more complicated ones, but Im not sure which one to pick - I want the printer to be able to print out big enough photos for bigger canvases

    • @PaulRansonArt
      @PaulRansonArt  2 месяца назад +1

      I've used Epson for years and found them to be very reliable. Currently, I'm using an Epson XP 445 for my regular office work and an Epson P50 Photo for my photographs. Both of these models have been replaced with newer versions called Ecotank which makes it more economical especially when printing high-quality photographs. BTW both of mine are A4 printers. To go up in size I use a free software called PostErazor. This takes a regular image and you can decide how big you want it to print over multiple sheets of A4. It's dead handy and works great. I did a video all about the Best Free Software for artists a while back so check out my channel. I do a walk-through on using it which you might find helpful - Best wishes - Paul 😃😎
