EASY SCONES RECIPE/DIKUKU

- SOFT AND DELICIOUS SCONES RECIPE.
PREHEAT YOUR OVEN AT 180°C
BUTTER AND LINE YOUR BAKING PAN.
INGREDIENTS
500g of flour (3 cups +2 tablespoons)
100g sugar (1/2 cup)
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
WET INGREDIENTS
200g butter
2 eggs (use 1 egg white for brushing)
200ml buttermilk
2 tbsp of vanilla essence
METHOD
-Mix all the dry ingredients
-Add butter, mix until the mixture resembles crumbs.
-On a jar or bowl mix all the wet ingredients together.
- Pour the wet mixture to the flour
-Using a cooking pin mix these together gently until everything is combined.
- Sprinkle your surface with flour, roll out the dough gently with your hands or a rolling pin.
- Use a cookie cutter or cup to cut and shape your scones.
- Put your scones on the prepared pan
- Brush with the egg wash ( Egg white + 1 tsp of milk)
- Bake your scones at 180°C for 20-25 minutes.
THIS RECIPE WILL YIELD 12 -14 SCONES.

I'd advise they use Paper Towels in the stead of a teaspoon or provided one doesn't have the brush....
And I've always applied egg yolk to avert baking my scones naked, never whites... The yolk gives them a nice caramel like color....
I ought to try the egg whites... Yours look scrumptious and I like how you somewhat freestyle and do it your own way.... 👌🏾
As a home-cook myself, I enjoy experimenting, I challenge you to add a pinch of Nutmeg in your next batch and revert to me on how you found the taste...

I need to try using egg yolks one of these days, nutmeg also sounds like a great idea. Funny enough I have been limiting my nutmeg and cinammon to pancakes, carrot cake and banana baked goods only. It's time I explore.

Sister P mine they look good like yours and they tasted delicious 😋 but the problem they came out the oven little bit harder I don't know help me maybe it's my oven.
You probably overbaked them. Also keep playing with your oven until you find the issue. Ovens work differently.
