  • Hello,
    Please watch the entire video before attempting repair.
    This video shows how to replace the screen on a Surface Pro 7, the surface in this video is very badly cracked and was a challenge to replace. The less the cracks the easier it is to replace the screen as you can replace the screen without further cracking it (I show how in this video)
    Tools needed:
    -Heat gun (blow dryer may work)
    -Thin metal pry tool (I use a dull razor)
    -This plastic pry tool (have extras as it may melt)
    -Replacement screen

    If you cover the shattered screen with tape, you don't end up with broken glass everywhere.

    • @dannydee9919
      @dannydee9919 Год назад

      thats what I noticed and was wondering if there is a reason why tape is not used. I imagine a process like this:
      Lay strips of an aggressive tape like gorilla duct tape completely covering the screen. Extend the strips in both directions folding the end of the tape thus creating a "pull tab" .
      Heat the screen enough to lift the screen leaving no debris behind due to debris sticking to duct tape.
      Im wondering if this is feasible

      That comes with experience... only after you've had to pick glass out of your fingertips a few times tho

    This is a very useful video, I did mine last night. Only problem is that the screen cable connected on the new screen seems to be the wrong shape due to the video connecter on the new screen being offset by about an inch

    Great video!
    Is it possible to just change the glass and not the whole screen?
    Or is it better to buy a new screen?
    I have a Surface Pro 7 with broken glass but the touch is still working.

      Unfortunately not without expensive machines. But it is doable

      Cheap inexpensive way would probably be to use molybdenum cutting wire to separate the top glass from the screen, then remove all the glue from off the LCD screen.

    I was reading the reviews for the screen replacement and one of them commented that the touch screen response was slow. I don’t know if it was because of how it was installed or because of the screen replacement itself. How was you touch screen response compared to the original screen?

    • @TheFixTech
      @TheFixTech  2 года назад +4

      My touch response was accurate and fast, same as original. It could be possible to receive a defective screen. Please test any screen you receive prior to finalizing the repair, if defective send back for replacement

    What temperature you used with the heat gun?

      word of caution, plz keep moving the heatgun contineously around the edges, might damage the unit if concentrate on one area/spot for too long

    Hi your video give me the confidence to attempt a repair, although my pen doesnt work correctly, it leaves a series of dots instead of drawing lines? i did partially remove the right antenna whilst removing the glue (too much heat?) but managed to stick to back, any ideas with the pen before i stick the screen on?

    • @TheFixTech
      @TheFixTech  2 года назад +1

      You can test the new screen, clean all old adhesive, fit the new screen into place (do not glue) and test all features.

  • @Technocrat.
    @Technocrat. Год назад +1

    What if you inject alcohol around the edges first the try to pry carefully the screen, would it help soften the glue?

    • @TheFixTech
      @TheFixTech  Год назад +2

      Yes, but not as effective as heat. If you do use alcohol, be very careful not to apply too much as it can damage internal components.

    On my Pro 7+, there are 2 horizontal lines of less than 1 cm, where the stylus is not working anymore... If I delete the drivers and restart the problem persists. Is that the digitizer that has to be replaced?
    Is the digitizer of the Pro 7 compatible to be used on a pro7+, they seem to have identical screens.

    Hi, your video is helping me a lot. I've removed the screen but I might have damaged the wifi antenna, not really sure. There is a little piece of a sticker missing that says wifi antenna left ... Is that sticker any important or just a label? Would really appreciate your help.

    • @TheFixTech
      @TheFixTech  2 года назад +5

      If just a little piece is missing it should be fine, you can connect the new screen but do not glue into place (have all old glue removed from frame). Then turn on the device and test out the Wi-Fi, if it is fine then proceed with the repair, if not, you can order and replace the antenna.

    I cut straight through one of the right side wifi thing by accident but the screen, touch, and wifi all work just fine, should I be worried or replace it before gluing my screen back on?

    • @TheFixTech
      @TheFixTech  Год назад +1

      Check for Bluetooth function as well. Check for Wi-Fi range, if all is acceptable then seal, if not replace damaged cable.
