Uhm…this is a story about Super Heroes…so…by definition, not realistic.

He mentions that none of the superheroes are good despite Maeve and Starlight being clearly portrayed as either conflicted characters or end up doing some good.

smoothie this show is literally selling itself on putting goofy superheros in the real world

Idk, the first point already falls flat with me - it is realistic that most superheroes would not be decent people because "power corrupts". And even still, there are few superheroes who are "evil" - most are just selfish in some way. Deep - misogynistic, but he has kinda good side because he cares about sea animals. A-train cares little for other people but do love his girlfriend (still cares about himself more) and his family. And not from seven - Mesmer, Lamplighter, Gecko, all are comparatively average, not evil people. Most of them would be your average daily people you interact with, if they didnt get powers, and you would not blink an eye.

Sure, but my point was that there’s no true “superheroes”. I never said all the superheroes were necessarily evil. What I’m saying is that pretty much no superhero is actually good. Which is unrealistic and very cynical. Of course there’s gonna be average superheroes who aren’t necessarily evil. But they’re still not good.
The Deep cares about animals, but that’s about it. He’s a selfish, misogynistic asshole. Don’t forget what he did to Starlight.
A-Train loves his girlfriend. But he killed her. Soooo……. Yeah, he loves his family, but that doesn’t make him good.
The rest of the “superheroes” are either selfish assholes, average joes, or straight up evil. With almost no truly good superheroes. Which is unrealistic and too cynical for my taste.

@@AllenReviews cynical? Sure is. Unrealistic - debatable

@@danylonazarov Probably. Given that cynicism tends to be wrong.

The way the show revels in it's cynical gore and moral nihilism is quite obnoxius. It would be more bearable if this had been made 20 or so years ago, when this would have been a new and fresh take on superheroes. But it's just completely in line with the nihilism and cynicism that seems to be omnipresent in our time. It does not surprise me that it's popular, it surprises me to have found someone who does not like it either.

Being critical or even over critical of something while giving meaningful thought out critiques and criticism is one thing. But just saying you hate everything while your criticisms don’t delve any deeper than surface level is more a sign of the show and it’s subtlety going over your head. Most of the things you “hate” about this show are by design, and watching this show like you would watch an avengers movie does not only the show a disservice but yourself as well. Just to give you an example, you hate The Deep because he is “still an asshole” after everything that’s happened in the show, what exactly were you expecting? For the guy that tried to sexually assault starlight and has sex with squids to become Aquaman? Assuming that if superpowers were real, there would be benevolent superhero’s flying around saving people all over the place is about the most unrealistic expectation of them all. There are people in our world with the resources to save people RIGHT NOW and they choose to hoard more money than they can ever spend while people die.

The excess and absurdity is the point. It’s a satire with a plot.I think you judged it too literally:)

This show starts off with a fantastic first season but as soon as Season 2 rolls around it becomes a show that’s plot can only happen when characters on both sides make incredibly stupid decisions, with Season 3 culminating in some of the worst plot armor and tomfoolery I have bore witness to in a while

Why is Mothers Milk a boring character? Why is Becca and Butchers relationship cheesy? Bro just states an opinion with no evidence to back it up. It’s also clear this show’s messages just go over your head. Once I heard the take on the Deep I knew you have no idea what you’re talking about.

    One thing i don't like
The homelander is undefendable no one can beat it Its not good

    • @-ySaint
      @-ySaint Год назад +3

that is literally good writing. homelander is the exact way he is because nobody can do shit to him 😂. homelander has everybody shitting themselves because he’s unpredictable and saying the wrong thing can lead to you just being killed immediately. and homelander is the best character in the show easily. homelander obvious difference in power is why so much of the plot even happens and it’s a great show bro. and in the newer season you see homelander isn’t as invincible as you think.

I think you miss the message here. Thanks to human nature and capitalism at it's finest, 99% of superheroes would be "bad". Simply because, once they discover their power, they would feel they hit the jackpot (financially) and are automatically above the law. That seems like one of the most realistic parts about a show about superheroes. Homelander (and Soldierboy) are the pinnacle of this idea, they simply feel they are unstoppable, untouchable, and everyone else is either a weaker superhero or simply a "mud" person. I think you might want to re-watch this show and pay a little more attention to it's actual meaning. This show touches on so many powerful ideas, such as absolute power corrupts absolutely (Homelander, Soldierboy, Vaught), racism (and how A-Train got a white racist heart that saved him), sexism (where do I begin... how about The Deeps intro with Starlight), propaganda (the commercials, constantly spinning lies, etc), and others. So yeah, I fully disagree with your review.

    • @AllenReviews
      @AllenReviews  Год назад +2

Nah, I don’t think 99% of superheroes would be bad. That seems very cynical. And I think it’s unrealistic that the vast majority of people with powers would be “bad” just because they have powers. C’mon, no real superheroes? Get tf outta here. I don’t buy that shit. Most of your comment is pretty redundant. I never said this show didn’t have “powerful ideas”. The problem is that the execution isn’t done well. Just having “powerful ideas” doesn’t make a show good. I think you need to pay more attention to my video. It wasn’t the ideas I was criticizing. I was criticizing the bad character writing and execution of those ideas.
