Yeah! No jaring music! Just simple and easy instructions! Thank you for this amazing tutorial! Works great with the Caron Big Cakes color "Blue Macaron". It gives a nice ocean look!
Tiffani Sturdivant thanks for watching! I have that color too so might have to try that out next.
This stitch is so pretty !! The volume for me is perfectly clear
Jen Lester glad you enjoyed this stitch!
That is a lovely stitch. Thank you, you are really good at teaching.
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for teaching me a new stitch!
You're welcome! Happy crocheting!
Am going to use this stitch to make a blanket for my daughter in law for Mother’s Day
That sounds wonderful!
Hi Amanda. I'm really glad I found this tutorial. I've been trying to find a pattern I wanted to make a blanket out of. I have stitched up your blanket in a smaller size. I can't wait to get the yarn and make it into a bigger blanket. Blanket is for my grandson. I think he'll love it. I know I like how easy it is anyway. I only have one thing I would like to say it's not really that bad but I could not hear you very well so I had to turn my volume all the way up and when an add came on it was so loud. Anyway thank you Amanda see you later
Hi Jodi! Some of my older videos are a bit harder to hear as I was using different software. I have another version of this stitch worked into a blanket. Hopefully it’s a little easier for you. And hope your grandson enjoys his new blanket 😊 ruclips.net/video/b81vJ3QKcQs/видео.html
Such a pretty stich will look at using it!
Thanks!
I'm wanting to make a blanket for my 16 year old rescue cat Cookie. She destroyed one I made in double crochet row repeats as her claws kept getting stuck in the stitches. This one looks dense and might be better. I do trim the ends off her claws which helps her and she's happier. As I am lol 😂. I also love the Suzette stitch. Made a scarf 🧣 in this stitch. Thank you, I'll try this one and if she's not happy with it, I can give it to a friend for her new cat.
I would say either this stitch or the Sedge Stitch (I have a tutorial on my channel for this stitch as well) would be great, dense stitches for your adorable rescue Cookie. I'm sure she would love something soft to cuddle up in. Thanks for rescuing an animal in need :)
The blanket stitch looks really toasty when done. Will have to give it a try.
It's very warm and toasty! Hope you enjoy this stitch.
Thank you, very easy to follow!
Janet Cheney you’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
This is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. This appeared in my Google feed and I’m so glad it did. I’m making rainbow 🌈 pet blankets for owners who have lost a fur baby and are now welcoming a new one. This stitch is perfect.😻
Thank you! What a wonderful project to work on! I hope those pet blankets provide comfort and healing 😊🧶
@@AmandaCrochets yes I believe they do. I donate them to a free pet food pantry who distributes food and pet items monthly. Some clients have got out of line and tried to purchase them from me. I have two rescue cats. I only donate. I’m so glad to be a part of the family of crafters. This community is so generous in sharing their skills.
@@cozettewendemu7007 How wonderful! Every now and then I donate to Comfort for Critters (similar to what you're doing with your pet beds). I love making blankets for animals at the shelter! I have a rescue kitty as well, which you can sometimes hear in my videos. She's the best! Thank you for making a shelter animal's life better by providing something warm and cuddly for them!
How to connect another colour ?
So easy thank you !
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
I like something looks hard but not really! 😊. ❤
That's what I love about crochet stitches-some look very difficult to create, but in fact they're much easier to work up :)
Thank you Love the stitch
I’m glad to hear!
Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to try it out. The only thing missing is how you finished the blanket. Meaning, is there another stitch that you have to do to tie it off? Can a border be put on it? Or will it make the blanket look bad with a border? I do apologize, I'm just asking questions.
For this video, this is simply a tutorial on how to make the blanket stitch. However, if you wanted to make a blanket with this stitch, to end the blanket, you will simply work your last stitch and then make a slip stitch. Yes, you can add a border to this blanket. If you check out my video Aqua Breeze Baby Blanket video, I show you how to make a ribbed border. This blanket uses the same blanket stitch shown in this video.
Great pattern
Thanks!
omg i love this stitch!
It’s a great stitch!
Thank you so much for this wonderful easy tutorial. I am making a blanket with a very clean edge. I am a self taught crocheter with the help of RUclips tutorials as your! Thank you and love this pattern ❤️
Molly Batson you’re very welcome! I’m glad you love this pattern as it’s one of my favorites! Keep crocheting! 🧶
Thank you
You're welcome!
You are an awesome teacher!! I am 51 years old and just learned how to crochet in April of 2020. Thank you so much!!
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed my tutorial! Welcome to the crochet community! :)
I picked it back up in April. It’s been a life saver through this pandemic
👍👍Yes the volume is low but the link to the written pattern (which has all info) is in the tab under the video..
You Rock! 👏🌹😉
Thanks!
Guess it's time to start a new blanket using this stitch! Lol thank you! 😊
Also for everyone complaining about the volume, just put some headphones on. It's very clear and loud.
Jellybean Soup you’re welcome! I hope you enjoy making a blanket with this stitch 😊 thanks for watching!
Beautiful
Thanks!
Did you fix your volume? My volume is at 26% and I can hear you just fine. I don't understand why everybody is complaining.
But any way, great video. I really like this stitch. I think I'm going to try a double strand with a 10mm hook to beef it up. If it doesn't work, I'll just try it your way. lol
I think the stitch could still work as long as you use the appropriate hook size with your yarn size, which I see you're doing. Hope it works out!
I usually have to watch a video several times to catch onto the stitch pattern, but I think I got this one down after only one viewing. That shows how good a teacher you are! New subscriber too by the way! Thanks bunches!!!
Aw thanks so much for watching and for your nice comment! I'm glad you were able to pick up on this stitch pattern quickly. I'm hoping to come out with some new videos soon, but right now life is a little crazy. Thanks for subscribing and watching :)
Thanks. My next Afghan. Ps I could hear
You’re welcome and enjoy!
I have done this with Bernat Baby Velvet yarn and it is my absolute favorite! Thank you.
Vix you’re welcome!
I found a way U can do this pattern, Click on the CC on the bottom of the video, and U can read it as she is doing it. I'd rather hear it< but I can work with this :)
Thanks!
I appreciate that you used a dark background with a light yarn. So easy to see what you are doing. And I love that stitch, will try it for using up my leftover yarn and make a little throw for when I’m sitting at my laptop. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the feedback! I hope you give this stitch a try. Sounds like a great project! Happy crocheting 🧶
I'd like to see how you changed yarn colors...Great Video I could hear you just fine...
Calvena Ainsworth the yarn I worked with is Caron Big Cake yarn, which is self striping yarn. However I will keep this in mind for future tutorials. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing how to do this Beautiful Stitching! I've been looking for something like this to make a Blanket for my Newest Baby Girl Family member and it's perfect! I'm a Visual learner, so your demonstration was great to me. Plus you can also turn on the closed captions (CC) if you can't hear the sound so clear. NEW SUBSCRIBER ❤❤❤
R J you’re very welcome! I,pm glad you enjoyed the stitch as it’s definitely one of my favorites. I’m sure your blanket will turned out great! Thanks for subscribing 😊❤️
Can't hear the video
Please can you send me the pattern I am 84 and I forget what I see and would love to make this blanket thank you. lsimcox9@gmail.com
This is a new stitch or pattern... new to me, but I love it!! Must try this and I love your clear instructions. Xoxo
Thanks for watching! Happy crocheting 🧶
This looks beautiful but I don’t know how to figure out how many to chain. You say multiple 3 but I can’t figure it out
Multiple of 3 means 3+3+3 etc
I wanted to say great work on teaching us, I can see the yarn well as you stitch and your verbal descriptions are spot on making it easy to follow along
Thank you for your hard work and dedication
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me 🥰 hope you enjoyed this stitch!
This is a very pretty stitch
I'm glad I've discovered it here with you too. Thanks.
Roxey Serckie I’m so glad you love this stitch!
Well done. You worked slow enough so beginners could keep up with you.
I really like this stitch pattern. Similar to the Lemon Peel stitch pattern, which I've made a few items with that pattern. I like how this and the LP pattern do not take up quite as much yarn as the other textured patterns.
Jo O. Thanks for watching! I agree this stitch is awesome!
Thank you so much! I love this blanket stitch. It's just what I was looking for. I could hear you just fine. Headphones might help others who needed a volume boost also its easy to forget but there is a volume adjust on a computer terminal, usually found on lower right corner. I forget about adjusting it all the time. Lol.
Ella Tome you’re very welcome! I’m glad you enjoy this stitch just as much as I do.
I would like to try this pattern and I am new to crocheting. I have taught myself by watching videos. So far I have only made baby blankets and I would like to try this pattern for a regular sized afghan with Caron cake bulky yarn. Can you guide me in how many single chains I should start with for the width of a regular size afghan? I know you said multiple of 3. Also, how many Caron Cakes should I order? I would hate to start my afghan and not have enough yarn to finish. Thanks for your help!
Dee Boyd hello! I would say try a chain of 264 for a twin size bed blanket. As far as how many cakes, I used 2.5 cakes of the Caron big cake yarn for my baby blanket. I’m not sure how many of the bulky weight cakes you should get, but my guess would be maybe 6-8? You would need at least 3-4 to complete my baby blanket example in this video. Hope that helps!
Hi again. I forgot to ask you if the other side looks textured too. And also, your volume is too low. Thanks again. 😁
Emma Padilla yes both sides are textured and look the same. I'm working on getting the volume better in future videos.
I love this stitch. It is so simple and easy to crochet and I love the way it turned out. Your video was easy to understand and very helpful. I think I would like to add a border. Do you have any suggestions ? I made my blanket with Red Heart With Love. I did 6 rows of white, 6 rows of aqua, 6 rows white, 6 rows rose, 6 rows white and repeated until it was the size I wanted. Thank you for the pattern and please let me know what you think about the border.
Sharon
Hi Sharon! Thank you so much for watching my video. Your blanket sounds beautiful! For my blanket, I made a simple single crochet border. However, another favorite border of mine is the shell stitch border. I used that border in my granny stripe blanket. You can check it out here: www.amandacrochets.com/granny-stripe-baby-boy-blanket/
Enjoy!
Amanda
Your color scheme sounds beautiful!
Wow I use this stitch for a border never thought to use as a whole blanket.... 🎉
This stitch is great for a blanket 😊
I am an absolute beginner and this was explained so well! I can't wait to try this! Thank you!
You’re welcome! Hope you enjoy 😊
I’m excited to make this blanket! However, it would be so much more helpful to me if you showed more than two groups of stitches in a row. Also, I’m not quite sure which stitches to skip. Can you show them again, slower and deliberately? Thanks!
I have a written tutorial (with photos) on how to make this stitch if that's easier for you. You can check it out here: www.amandacrochets.com/how-to-make-the-blanket-stitch/
Very easy stitch, beautiful! I will probably use this to make small blankets for The animal shelters
Cool Crafty Creations sounds like a great idea! The shelter animals will love something nice and cozy.
This is a beautiful stitch! Thank you for sharing it. I subscribed. 👍
Thank you and thanks for watching! 😀
I found a stitch for my tempature blanket yay
I'm sure it will turn out awesome!
New here and so excited I found you. I've been looking for a nice stitch and this is great. Thank you for sharing
You're very welcome! Thanks for subscribing and hope you learn something new while here :)
Thanks for showing this stich! I thought it would be more difficult. So happy I was wrong! And thank you for explaining how we can make it larger. Think I'll try a youth size blanket for my granddaughters.
Kathy Gospodarek you’re very welcome! I’m glad it was easy to follow along. I’m sure your granddaughters would love it too! Happy crocheting 🧶
The other day I got all my scrap yarn wound into a giant ball and I didn't know yet what I was going to do with it....well this just came across my recommended page and I am so excited!
That sounds like a great idea! Hope you enjoy!
I want to make a bigger blanket for an adult, how many chains do you recommend to start with?
It would depend on how big you want your blanket and your gauge. Say you want to have a throw blanket, you would need about 176 whereas a queen size bed would be about 270. You could always chain a multiple of 3 until you get your desired width as well :)
Thank you.
@@sidgildashatford2209 Anytime!
Thanks for this video. I’m trying to learn about new stitches.
You’re welcome!
I love this stitch and your video. No nonsense and very clear instructions. I love that I could see where you were putting your hook at all times. Do you think I can do this blanket w Bernat yarnspirations? Maybe with a larger hook? I want to make a baby blanket for a friend and love the feel of that yarn for a baby blanket. Looking forward to start using this stitch. Thank you!!
heather perry thank you for your kind comment. I don’t see why you couldn’t do this with another yarn. I would maybe do a few rows or a swatch and see what you think. I usually use the recommended hook size that’s on the yarn label. Good luck!
Very pretty stitch. Thank you. I can hear you just fine.
Thanks!
Thank you for answering me so quickly. I will check this out. I really want to finish my blanket. I did subscribe to your channel and I will enjoy watching your tutorials. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome! I'm glad you're enjoying my videos.
Thank you Amanda. I was looking for something that had a more detail look. Good crocheting and teaching
You’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed 😊🧶
Thank you so much for teaching me this I'm making a 300 chained blanket for my mom I hope she likes it
Angel Margaret Ursula Analoak you’re welcome! I’m sure you will love it!
Its so easy to do I did one with all my scap yarn so it has a whole of different colors just love it every one that sees it have ask me 2 make them one but I sell them 2 them due that I can't work so this helps me with my depression & anitey plus I'm epileptic also I get very bad seizures Plus I've had 2 back surgeries on my back I am waiting to have a third surgery on my back so when I sell them I'm saving that money to complete for my deductible to have another surgery but everybody loves these blankets so thank you for showing how to do it keep up the good work
It's definitely one of my favorite stitches to do! I'm sorry to hear about your medical troubles, but glad that crocheting is helping you cope with them. It's very relaxing and calms my nerves down as well. I'm sure you very happy that people want your blankets. I bet they turn out beautiful! Thanks for watching :)
@@AmandaCrochets Thank u and yes it helps me my mom taught me how to crochet when I was seven but when I turned eight I stopped crocheting due to the fact also that I had a brain tumor but with God's prayer and everyone praying I was healed and I continue to crochet at the age of 9 but now with all my medical conditions at my age it's gotten to me with seizures my back and my other medical issues that I have my anxiety and all that but with God's help I'm still here God healed me I'm 51 and God has given me all this time of life I love 2 crochet reminds me when me and my mom used 2 sit outside or in her room and crochet she past away but I still crochet I Found You video I really loved it and I'm a subscriber to your Channel and once again thank you for replying and yes they do everybody loves the blankets they know my issues so they do love them....keep up the great job
Thank you for this video. I love this pattern and will make a blanket for my great grandson.
Very pretty.
Denise Rakochy you’re welcome and thanks for watching! Enjoy 😊
Is this a yarn guzzler? I really want to start but dont want too little yarn.
I guess it would depend on if you were to make this blanket bigger. I used 2.5 skeins of Caron Big Cake for my blanket.
This is awesome. I’m now teaching my son how to crochet a blanket😁
Maeana Watene thanks for watching! How sweet of you to teach your son 😊
Volume is clear as a bell for me. Looking forward to starting a project with this stitch.
Thanks for watching! Enjoying using this stitch in your next project :)
Volume is low, but at full I can clearly hear you so I don't mind. Even if I didn't I'm used to watch asian tutorials so I really appreciate the clear image! I could mute the video and I will still understand!
Andrea thanks for watching!
Hello just found your channel. This is a lovely stitch. Did you do an edging around your blanket? The sound is a little quiet but you explained and showed the stitch very well. Thank you. Kind regards from Australia 🐨
Hello! Yes I did a simple single crochet border around this blanket. You can find the written instructions here: www.amandacrochets.com/blanket-stitch-baby-blanket-pattern/ I hope you enjoy this stitch!
Very pretty... do you know how to crochet slippers & in this stitch?
Janette McGregor thank you! Sorry I’ve never made slippers so I wouldn’t know where to begin.
Caron Big Cakes yarn is my favorite when making afghans! Love this pattern! If anyone has any other patterns that go well with Caron Big Cakes, please let me know! Thanks!
I have a few other patterns using Caron Big Cakes on my website. Here is one of those patterns: www.amandacrochets.com/blue-skies-crochet-blanket/
I like holding two strands together and working corner to corner.
@@GrixieKong I haven't tried that, but it sounds like a nice, thick blanket! :)

Your first comment was to chain by 3’s till the length wanted. Is that length across or length up & down? Thx!
Holly Brown this would be the width across 😊
This is a great EASY pattern. I completed a baby blanket, but didn't do my last row (yet) because it looks "scalloped" vs. the starting row, which is straight. I wanted to check if there was a way as to not have the subtle bumps. None of the directions say how to remedy this. I don't wish to put a border on, so I'd just like both the top and bottom to be straight across in appearance. It's a lovely pattern, but with this small bumpy edge, it appears more feminine, if that makes sense. I know I've made the pattern correctly, but no instructions say how to remedy this minor issue.
Also, is there a way to crochet this on the bias, like a C2C blanket in this stitch? I prefer this stitch, plus there are no large holes between stitches. Maybe it's just not possible, but it would be interesting if it could be done.
Thank you! I'm glad you love this stitch as much as I do. I understand what you mean about the subtle bumps at the top. Maybe you could work two rows of single crochet stitches to see if that would help even things out? I haven't really tried it myself as I've always worked a border.
As far as making this using a C2C method, I'm sure it could be done, but I haven't seen it myself. I've only seen a granny C2C stitch and a moss C2C stitch done in this way. I agree, it would be interesting if it could be made this way!
@@AmandaCrochets thank you for replying. I never thought of just SC across the top... I'm glad I didn't finish off the blankets yet because I'll have to try that. I was thinking something with a SC and/or a slip stitch, but wasn't sure. It's not too bad with a feminine blanket, but if I was going to make one for (my teenage son for instance), I wouldn't necessarily want a scalloped appearance to end it with.
This is my new go-to stitch! Thanks again for sharing!! Be safe!
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoy this stitch! Be safe!
How do you buy yarn that not to expensive
I always buy yarn when it's on sale or I have coupons. Very rarely do I purchase yarn full price as it can get expensive. Buying yarn on sale or when I have coupons helps a lot!
Great video and a beautiful pattern. I will have to make this one. Thankyou for sharing!
Harphoney thanks for watching!
I love this stitch and will be starting a blanket for a friend (he's 8). This seems to be sturdy for a boy's use!! Thanks. (And, the volume is a bit low for us older folks!! ;) )
Diana Wood I hope you enjoy making this blanket. I’m sure your friend would be thrilled to receive it!
I just finished my blanket using your stitch. Thanks so much!
You’re welcome!
I'm gonna start doing it tommarrow is it OK if I make with a mixture colored yarn and can I do it longer and larger
LPSlove Bird you can make this however you want. I’m simply just showing you how to make the stitch. Have fun!
Beautiful. I have a request from my grand daughter for a blanket.. This will most likely be the stitch I use. 💕
Rosiegiggles 69 thank you! I hope you enjoy making a blanket with this stitch 😊
Amanda Crochets 😊💞
It’s kind a hard to hear you you need to turn volume up or something just thought I’d let you know
This is an earlier video, so the audio might be a little quieter. You may just need to turn up the volume on the video or on your computer. I've since improved with my audio. You can check out this blanket where I used the same stitch: ruclips.net/video/b81vJ3QKcQs/видео.html
Your baby blanket is so pretty. Wonderful tutorial. Thanks 💙
Thanks for your kind words!
How many yarn balls did you use? Also, how big is the blanket? Thank you!
Samantha Villa the pattern is listed in the description below the video. I used 2.5 Caron big cakes and it turned out to be about 34x39.
I love the blanket and the yarn you used which I have not worked with before. Did you have to do something special to make sure your color sections were uniform, meaning it looks like every three rows the color changes. Also, great tutorial!
Thank you! Actually no I didn't do anything to get the rows uniform. That's just how the cake turned out. Pretty cool when that happens :)
@@AmandaCrochets Thanks for your reply! I can't wait to try it!
What kind of border did you use?
I usually make a single crochet border.
Beautiful blanket, very clear instruction and I didn’t have any trouble hearing you at all. Thank you for this... it will be my next blanket! I just subscribed too! :)
Monica Wilga thank you for subscribing! I’m so glad you enjoyed the pattern 😊
I think I'm going to use this for my temperature blanket 😊
That sounds like a wonderful idea!
Love this stitch. Just subscribed. Volume is a little low but can hear you fine with my volume all the way up.
Tammy Herrin thanks for subscribing!
How many chains do I need of I want to do a 48" by 48" blanket or something close to that
Jessica Wilder I would try a chain of 147 and see if that sizing is good for you. If you need to add/subtract a few chains after that, just make sure they’re in a multiple of 3. Good luck!
love this! is there a way to decrease and increase with this stitch? this would be a nice texture for a top
I’m sure there is a way, but I’ve never tried it.
Great tutorial Amanda! I have yet to find a blanket stitch i love as much as the blanket stitch! I like the Sedge stitch and the V stitches but to me they’re not as pretty as the Blanket Stitch. ❤
Thank you! This is a great stitch! The Suzette stitch is similar in texture, so you may like that one as well. I do have a few tutorials on my channel using that stitch.
I am just learning how to crochet and I’m 73 and I wish you would’ve shown a few more rows. It seems like I get confused at the end in the beginning. I can make the stitch fine all the way across but when I get to the end or start the beginning I mess up. Thank you
I’m sorry you’re getting confused with the ends. I do have another blanket made using this same stitch. If you look on my channel, search for “aqua breeze baby blanket” as I go a little more in depth. Hope that helps!
I’m doing a baby blanket as this one but in gradient colors, where can I post it when finishing that you can see? Thanks Amanda 🥰💋
Sounds beautiful! If you have instagram, you can tag me on there. Or you can email me. All my information is in the description box.
Just started this 2 days ago going good, I always have problems with my ends being wonkie.
I’m glad you’re enjoying this pattern 😊
When you go to put the double and single crochets, why does it look like two loops when the hook goes in to the chain? What two are you going into? 😭 I don’t understand
You can go into one loop of the chain and be just fine. 😊
♥️I love stitches that are close together with a warm look. I'm a BLANKET FANATIC I can make other things if I try but I just love Blankets. I'll be trying this today. I have 2 other projects to work on.
Thank You 😇
You're welcome! I LOVE making blankets as well. Enjoy and thanks for watching! :)
Great video, you are very clear in your instructions. But, one question, how do I do a whole blanket from this piece? Could you do a "part 2" video for os beginners showing how to create the other parts? ☺️ Thank you so much! 🌸
Mari Stein thank you! I’m glad you found the video helpful. As far as how to finish the blanket, you will continue to make row 2 over and over again.
@@AmandaCrochets ok, easier as I thought ☺️☺️! Thank you for the reply, very kind of you! Have a great day 🌸💗🌻
Mari Stein you’re very welcome! 😊
Awesome, your videos are so instructive, I'm very thankful
Thanks!
Me foimg almost halfway through my blanket while doing single, half double and double instead of single and two double 🙃
Haha it happens, but hey, you’re making the sedge stitch. Very similar to the blanket stitch 😊
