    The Granny is still a big favorite with me...and thus tutorial is a really good one...Instructions are very clear...,and so easy to follow.
    Just wanted to plug the Clover Amour Crichet Hooks... Inhave been using them for about two years now, and they are the best... really. They still look brand new . Alsi, I love how they feel
    In my hands, and because I have vision issues, the fact that each size has an assigned color is absolutely wonderful. It’s so easy to grab the size I need.
    The sizes are
    permanently etched into the handle I like that, too. They won’t rub off..ever.
    I purchased two Furl hooks with my stimulus money... They are nice, but to be honest, I prefer my Clovers.

    Amanda, this is the stitch I've been looking for to make a proper Granny chain aphgan! I'm a lefty, and, I crochet left handedly backwards-left to right. I'm a guy whose been crocheting since age 5. Because I'm left handed, I got looked at like I'm an alien freak from planet Zorg, by the instructors. I've not been able to advance from just after beginner status. Now at 58 years old, I want to get a better set of crochet standards.(more stitch talent under my belt! A friend of mine wants me to teach him how to crochet, he lost his left arm in an accident, yet, not his desire to learn how to do it. I think I will have to put the hook into a vice in the shop, to "hold" the hook for him. Time will be a great help in the trial of this challenge. More later, Doug 👍🧸🐻

      Hi Haley! I do actually have a tutorial for a solid color granny square. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/SPwrrKTFZWI/видео.html. To change colors in your granny square, you will fasten off the old color and slip stitch the new color on and continue making the rounds as mentioned in the video. I will add the granny stripe scarf to my video list. Thanks for the suggestion! 😊🧶

      Jeff McNair a temperature blanket is one where you make a row of your blanket with the coordinating color of the temperature. So if it’s above 90, you might use a bright red color. It’s one row per each day of the week. Hope that helps a little!

    in a normal granny square, you would chain one between clusters of double crochets. does this make the blanket curve if you do? that would also explain why you only chain 3 at the beginning instead of 4 to give you a double crochet AND a chain by default or do the same by chaining one before the last single double crochet.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  3 года назад

      I've actually seen it done both ways. Some people chain 1 in between the double crochet clusters while others skip it altogether. It's really about personal preference. It does not make the blanket curve from my experience. What I found does make a granny square blanket curve is by not turning after each row. If you turn your work, it seems to keep the blanket straighter, at least for me!

  • @leepyloops

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 года назад +1

      I would try 103 chains to see if that size works for you. Otherwise your chain should be in a multiple of 3, adding 1 final chain to the very end.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 года назад

      Hi Denise! I am doing well, hope you are too 😊 as far as a border, I usually go really simple and make a single crochet border. However, if you want to try something else, I do have a shell border. I used that for this pattern: www.amandacrochets.com/candy-stripe-blanket-pattern/

    Ok, I got most of it but if I want an extra large baby blanket how much would I chain,

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Год назад +1

      To change the sizing for this stitch, you will make a chain in a multiple of 3. Once satisfied with your width, you will add 1 chain to the very end. You can measure the chain to see if this is the width you’d like for your blanket. Hope that helps!

    I love this pattern it is so easy to follow! Just wonder how do you switch the colors of the yarn like in your title screen blanket?

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching! In order to change colors, you will leave a tail of about 4-5 inches of the old yarn and you will introduce the new color. To do this, you will make your last stitch, but don't complete it fully. You will lay the new color over your hook and pull through with that new color. I go more in detail on how to change colors with this granny stripe stitch in this video: ruclips.net/video/02_z5y0JOZg/видео.html

    How many foundation chains would I need in order to have enough yarn for a baby blanket?

      Lupe Porter if you want to make the same size baby blanket I did, you will need a chain of133. You should have more than enough yarn with a red Heart as Caron Simply Soft has 315 yards per skein.

    • @AmandaCrochets

      I believe you would just make a chain about the size you want your tote bag to be, then attach the first and last chain together and crochet around in a circle. I haven't tried making a tote bag with this stitch, so it would just be trial and error.

    • @AmandaCrochets

      For a twin size blanket, I would try 177 chains. That should be wide enough to fit over the top of a twin bed. You can always work one row and lay it over the bed to see if it comes out to the size you need. Hope that helps!

    The written pattern lists to make 2 dcs in the first row. I did that and it didn't match the pictures. I came back to the video where it shows 3 dcs. I'm glad that I caught the mistake early. It also doesn't state to ch 3 at the end of row 1 before starting the 3 dcs in row 2.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  5 лет назад

      You will make 2dcs in the 4th chain from your hook. The 3 skipped chains will act as your first dc. I'm sorry I didn't include this in my video. In my written pattern and in my video it says to ch 3 at the end of row 1 before continuing onto row 2.

    How many chains would I need for a twin blanket??

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  3 года назад

      You will need a multiple of 3+1. That means you’ll make your chain a multiple of 3 until your desired width and add 1 more chain to the very end. I suggest making your chain and laying it across your twin bed to see if you need to add or subtract any chains. I can’t give an exact amount as my gauge might differ from yours, but hopefully that helps!

    Does anyone know the chain number for a full size bed?

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  3 года назад

      It would really depend on your gauge/tension, hook size, and yarn you're using. You will chain a multiple of 3 until desired width, then add 1 more chain to the end to balance things out. A good starting number, I would say, would be 204. However, you can always lay your chain over your bed to see if you need to add/subtract any chains. I hope this helps!

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  4 года назад +1

      To change colors, you will work your final double crochet in your row, but don't complete the double crochet. You will have 2 loops on your hook. Introduce your new color by leaving a tail and yarning over with your new color to finish the double crochet. You will now continue using your new color.
