This is a lovely textured stitch, I’m relearning after 5 year break & looking for fairly easy stitches & well explained. The only thing is it was bit low in sound, but you did great closeups & explanations. Thank you so much
Amanda, I love the waffle stitch. Your descriptions of how to do the stitch work made it very eas to follow. I love the texture of this stitch. It actually does look like a waffle. Good job, Amanda. :)
I’m making a blanket for my yoga instructor for her Christmas gift... Thanks so much for this tutorial! Very easy to follow, very easy to hear! Thanks so much!!
I ended up making a velvet baby blanket and it came out beautiful! Super easy to follow...it was hard to hear tho. My sister has requested me to make one for a friend of hers as a baby gift! Looked so fancy & difficult but was easy!
Came across your channel by chance and I'm glad I did. Just beautiful designs explained in such detail makes it very easy for beginners like me to follow very easily. Thank you for so much!!!
Just found this video and find it amazingly simple to make this stitch!! You explained it SO well and i will definitely subscribe to your channel and look forward to future videos!!! Thanks so much for such a thorough explanation :)
Good morning just watching your video there that looks good for a big quilt or a lap quilt i guess how many stitches would you add on and i have Caron cakes just wondering how many cakes i need thanks for you video from Newfoundland Canada
Beverley Simmons you would have to experiment with different chains to see what width works for you. You will need to make a chain of a multiple of 3. When you’re satisfied with your width, you will add 2 more chains to the end to keep things in balance. I used 4 cakes for my baby blanket so the bigger the blanket the more cakes you’ll need.
Love this Video and definitely trying this Today but when I clicked on the Wash Cloth link it set a Virus off on my Phone :( so I will stick to the Video.
Thank you and hope you enjoy! I’m sorry that happened to you! I tried the link on a few different computers and tablets and it seems to work just fine and without any viruses/issues. I regularly check my website to make sure there aren’t any issues.
Would the pattern still turn out okay if I used an H or J hook?? I left my I hook at home and I’m at college right now, wanting to try to get a blanket done for my brother for Christmas 😭
I don't see why not! You could always practice and see which hook you like better. If you use an H hook, your stitches may come out a little tighter whereas a J hook might come out a little more loose. It's all up to you though as you can totally use what you prefer :)
Oh no! I hope you can reply soon I'm super new and on the first row you don't say if you chain 1 after the double crochet or if you just start the next double? Seems to work without chaining one but all the other stitches I've learned chain one as the last part of thier double. I want to make a thick blinket with very little holes, and this looks great I know it depends on a lot of things but hoping I dont mess up the whole stich if I start off wrong...
Hello! After you finish each row, you will make a chain 1 and turn your work. You do not chain 1 in between the stitches or after you've made your double crochet stitch. I have a few other waffle stitch projects on my channel if you're interested in checking those out too. Maybe they're a little easier to understand. I have a waffle stitch scarf and a waffle stitch dishcloth. They both use the same technique as you would for a blanket. Good luck!
You would have to experiment to see what size works best for you. You can do this by chaining a multiple of 3 until your desired length and add 2 more to the end. You can try making a chain of 176 (174+2) and see if that size works for you. Good luck!
I have an overstock of Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 100% acrylic yarn. I started crocheting the waffle stitch with the goal of an afghan for my husband. I finished six rows when he came to take a look and he loved it - until he felt it and said it wasn't soft enough. So, what else can I use this yarn for? the color is beautiful but it is a bit short of soft.
You can still use Super Saver for this pattern. If you wash that yarn, it actually comes out a little softer. You can always put a full skein in a garment bag and wash it and see how it softens up before you scrap your blanket.
Why is the volume soo low? Is it my phone or are you soft spoken. I love the way you teach!!!!!❤ You are Awesome!!!💕 Thx💕 I JUST CANT HEAR YOU. OTHERS ARE SAYING THE SAME!!!!❤
Help is the waffle stitch, have two separate sides. I am not explaining it very good but . It looks like my sides are separated. If you understand what I am talking about.
Hi Marlene! Thanks for reaching out. I think it would be better to see pictures of your blanket so I can better understand and help you. You can reach me at amandacrochets@yahoo.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.
I need help with the sc border along the sides. It's easy on the top and bottom but the sides are wonky to stitch into and doesn't look straight as I go along.
It can be a little tricky to work along the sides of your blanket. The best advice I can give is to eyeball it and try and make the sides as even as possible. There's not an exact science to it unfortunately. Just take your time and it should work out. Good luck!
How come different waffle stitches instructions both video and written all have you chain a different starting amount. The written I have says just an even amount but that’s not working out well and then I saw one that said multiples of 3 add 3
Everyone has their own version of how to make this waffle stitch. There are also many different ways to make different crochet stitches. This is just worked for me. I've only known to chain a multiple of 3+2. I'm sorry it's not working out for you. I wish you the best of luck! I just came out with a waffle dishcloth video, so maybe that will help.
Jennifer Fatzinger the pattern is listed in the description box below the video. Here’s the link: www.amandacrochets.com/waffle-stitch-blanket-pattern/
You will chain a multiple of 3 until your desired width. I recommend laying your chain over your queen sized bed and see if the width is what you'd like. Once satisfied, you will add 2 more chains to the end.
Your volume is waaaay too low!! I have my computer set at 100% and the volume needle turned all the way up and I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!! So far, all of your vids that I've TRIED to watch are the same!!!
M Maurece I’m sorry you’re unable to hear me. You can always turn the closed captions on. I have since switched to a new camera so my newer videos should be louder for you to hear.

How many initial chains do you need to make for a twin size blanket or even a throw blanket?
Just started one, I'd say 124 minimum with a 5mm hook.

Yes! This pattern is nice and thick, making it the perfect masculine stitch.

@@AmandaCrochets sorry meant to type rolls do you need to make a throw blanket
Jovanna Rios that’s ok. I used 4 cakes for this blanket. I guess it would depend on how big you want your blanket, but I’m guessing maybe 7-8?
