I love these older DSLRs that everyone seems to forget, but still take great pictures if you have the skill, If u ever get the chance to review D30 and D60 that would be awesome because i can't find any other videos on them
I love old DSLRs too, there is something about older DSLRs that leaves a lot of room to explore while working with it's limitations and the feel is also very different compare to more recent DSLRs. I would love to do a video on both the D30 and the D60 but as of now the prices here in the Netherlands are as high as used 60D cameras and it doesn't (yet) make any sense to buy it yet~~ But I will definitely buy them some day :-) Thank you for watching and for commenting. My first DSLR almost 20 years ago! Was a solid body with magnesium alloy, pretty well made, metal instead plastic, the battery grip was straigh less bulky, thw battery life was pretty impresive, this is the third prosumer DSLR from Canon and was a breaking point
Thank you very much for watching as well as for sharing your experience/story, very much appreciated it. I personally would still say that Canon's prosumer cameras are still very well built and most of them are still made out of magnesium alloy with better weather sealing as each generation or two passes. The Canon eos 10D might not be the best camera for the time when it was launched but it definitely set the path for how the double digit line of cameras should develop into. Which in my opinion was more rugged, reliable (while still being affordable for professionals) in a somewhat portable size. Despite all the odds that the 10d has, I personally enjoyed using it and it also proofed to be much more reliable than my D30 (Canon's first DSLR which came out two generations before the 10D). But this is just my side of the opinion. I thank you very much again for watching as well as for sharing your experience and story. I wish you a good time, stay safe and have fun shooting :-)
I am really glad that there is someone here on youtube who appreciate these kind of old DSLR Well I have a Canon 30D and a Canon 1000D I do streetphotography using both And it made me a better photographer since it has an old technology That made me focus more on the basics of photography Thank you man for this video and pls keep doing this Because old is gold ...
Thank you very much for sharing your stories and experience, very much appreciated it! Yeah, just because cameras are getting old does not mean that the quality decreases by any means. I know it's not economical but I like to buy old cameras and just enjoy taking pictures with them and then if I have time, I would make videos about them. I've already made a video on the 1000d as well, feel free to check it out (also some other older cameras as well like the original 1d, the Nikon d200 and more~~). Also, I think that older cameras with minimal amount of features actually would make people a better photographer as it allows people to focus more on the the subject, concepts, moments and meaning of the images rather than what technicalities can be applied to the photograph~~ I know that many times I do get "distracted" by the technicalities over the conceptualisation part and the artistic part of the image. Thank you very much again for sharing your experience and stories as well as for watching. I will do my best to keep producing these kind of videos and it is really good knowing that there is someone appreciating this kind of videos that I like to make. :-) I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting!:-)

I miss my 10D - I bought it new and it was my first DSLR, soon upgraded to the 20D which was great... but I was not so attached to it. Ergonomically the 10D is nice, it has a nice soft roundness to it, the curve above the pop-up flash really sticks with me. Mostly used mine with a 17-40 f4 L (original) and a 50mm f1.4. As a side-note, and having just picked up a Nikon D3 for £250 and a 50mm for about £60 - it is an insane time to get into photography. This is kit that pro's were struggling to justify at the end of 35mm days for less than a basic 2 lens kit in 2004, and it is just as capable as it was then. Alternatively, what it would cost to buy, dev and print 15 rolls of film now. I do miss film though... time to look at FM3 prices again :(

@@DavidCuhls It's always the Photographer, never the gear. I shoot nowadays mostly my 40D, because EF-S Lenses don't fit onto the 10D. My 17-50/2.8 Tamron is broken, bought it that way as Lenscap. My Tamron 17-50/2.8 into F-Mount is perfect, like new, even after 15 years.
I started to collect old dslrs from canon and just ordered it for 29$ with a lens that owner has no idea about what it is and I didnt ask looking forward to see it limits!
I would recommend the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8. I know that this lens second hand would cost slightly more than the camera used. However, if you are looking for an all-in-one kind of lens for this camera, I think this lens might be good enough. I am only taking into account of the general purpose focal length such as standard wide to standard telephoto and also kind of bright aperture lens to also take better pictures in the dark as well as have nice blurry background for when shooting portraits :-)
@@DavidCuhls It's been about 2 years since you posted this great video, but I am back for another question. What would be a good cost-friendly lens for sports photography for the Canon eos 10D?
Yes, the 50mm 1.8 will fit onto this camera. :-) Any "ef" lenses will fit onto this camera. The camera does not fit "ef-s" lenses. Hope that helps, thank you very much for watching, hope you have a good time and have fun shooting. :-)
You are right, but on the other hand, I think perception of time is also really a matter of how one would perceive it. When I first started photography, it would have been a luxury for me to even have an 8gb sdhc card in my camera since the more common ones were the 2gb and 4gb. But nowadays, memory card technology really developed fast that 2gb or 4gb as a standard seems so long ago for me. But thank you very much for your explanation as well as for watching, really appreciated it. :-) I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
The 28-135 was a great match for a normal to tele lens on this camera back in the day. If you set the camera to review after each image it doesn't slow down operation significantly, and review becomes a bit easier, at the expense of battery life.
I recently got a 10D and I’ve been having problems on how to see what the lens sees on the screen, I’ve been trying to figure out all day, how do I get rid of this problem?
The canon eos 10d does not have the live-view feature where you can see the live-view from the the back screen. It is a very old camera that came out when photographers were slowly switching from film to digital, so you still have to use the view finder to see what the lens is seeing. Hope that helps somewhat. Thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
I was mainly using the Canon ef 16-35mm f/4.0 L IS USM lens with the camera. :-) If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask me at anytime. :-) Otherwise, I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
I think that for roughly the same price range, it might be better to go for something like the Canon eos 1000d or the eos 450d since both of those cameras will accept more budget lenses from Canon and the 10d does not. Furthermore, the 1000d and the 450d has live view feature that will help out a lot with framing for stop motion shoots. Both models also offers sensor cleaning features as well as better image quality than the 10d. So the long run, I think that the 1000d or the 450d (and if you can find it for the same price, the canon eos 40d is also a good choice) would be a better investment. :-) Hope that helps. :-) Thank you very much for watching, wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
Hi, to transfer the images on to your computer using the cable, you will also need to instal a software on your computer called "EOS Utility" so it would recognise the eos 10d. You can download the software here: en.canon-cna.com/support/consumer_products/products/cameras/digital_slr/eos_10d.html?type=drivers&language=&os=macos%2010.15%20(catalina) If you prefer a quick method, buying a CF card reader would probably be better and more reliable as well since the software maybe too old as the camera is a little bit old by now.
