  • I nearly had a breakdown while recording this tutorial, and I almost did not post it, as I couldn't complete the project. BUT - I think it is important for Silhouette users to see that mistakes happen to all of us, and that we just need to calm down and think about what the solution may be. This video contains useful information for all Silhouette users! Cameo 4, Cameo 5, Curio 1, Curio 2, Portrait 3, Portrait 4... Doesn't matter, you need to see this.
    Things started out great. The Curio 2 did it's auto measurement just as it should, and the sketch feature was much quicker than the Curio 1 or the Cameo 4.
    Trouble started not too long into the project and things went bad from there.
    I'm using a wood picture frame from the Dollar Tree and various pens to try out the sketch feature on the Curio 2. It is exciting to be able to work with thicker materials! I just need a bit more practice.
    Look for pics later on in the Community tab here, or head over to the book of faces and join the group and/or follow my page. I'd love to see you over there!

      😅 I had such a time with this project. It took me a couple of days to even put the footage together because there may have been a few moments of cussing at the machine. Lol! Done days are like that, but they do teach us a lot! Thanks for watching 🥰

    This is a great video. I am on the fence about getting the curio 2 or the cameo 5 (I have a cameo 4 since 2020) and it was so nice to see you use a mat. I cut alot of 80# cardstock and want to see if the es bed will work or not. this shows me that it can work with a mat. I don't have enough room for the C5 and the es mat but can work with the curio 2 size. Thanks!!!

      Thank you! I was only going to get the curio because my Cameo 4 works perfectly fine, and I'm out of space. But apparently, my shopping addiction won out, and now I have both. 😅

      The electrostatic bed holds it in place.

    Hi. How did you decide where the flowers would line up? Does the Curio 2 have a camera? or did you estimate the placement based on the rulers on the mat?

    • @silhouettesuccess
      @silhouettesuccess  8 месяцев назад

      You have to line it up with the grid. That part is going to take a bit of practice and a lot of patience.

    How are you dealing with miscuts? I will be in the middle of a cut and the machine overlaps another cut? I’m so frustrated! I wish I wouldn’t have bought this machine.

      I haven't run into that issue. Is the arm bumping something fitting the cut? Maybe the blade or force is to high?

      @@silhouettesuccessno it will run fine onetime and then messes up the next. I did a google search and there are issues similar to mine that came up but no answers.

    You can clearly see that the wood isn't flush what happened is exactly what I expected.

      The issue was user error (that's me) but actually had nothing to do with the wood blank. The first issue was that I did not do a test run and just went with the settings in Silhouette Studio. The force was entirely too high and was engraving instead of sketching. The next issue was that I had the design too large. It looked ok on the screen, but was definitely too large when the Curio was drawing it out. When the pen went off the edge, it bumped the carriage out of alignment. That force is what caused the picture frame to move. It was definitely secure enough for the typical sketch job. Every first with this machine will be trial and error, but I think I have enough patience and coffee to get it right.
