- The WDR BIG BAND performs "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder together with Maceo Parker on alto saxophone, in an arrangement by Michael Abene, who also directs the WDR BIG BAND. Another solo is played by Karolina Strassmayer on alto saxophone. Cora Coleman is a guest on drums, and Carroll V. Dashiell on electric bass. Produced at the WDR Studio 4 in Cologne in 2017.

With the deepest appreciation and admiration for The WDR Big Band who allows Jazz to expand. The women playing their instruments were exceptional as all the others.

Great arrangement and performance of this awesome band! Though, personally I'm not a great fan of Mr. Parker's unpolished and clownish sound. I prefere brilliant Frau Strassmayer 😊. I find the choice to feature two altos somewhat 'unlucky' in this context.

Too abrupt an ending on some notes, like a piano with no pedal.
Karolina Strassmayer made up for it, though.
Thumbs down. Hokey arrangement, not in the original key of the song for no good reason. Maceo's horn is slightly flat. Drummer is way too on top of the beat (too fast). Keys, bass, horn section all excellent but I feel bad for them they have to play on this song.
Yeah you are completely right about the drums it feels like the swing is gone…
I get where you’re coming from. I’m guessing the key change is to make it more accessible for the alto sax. The original key falls much better or tenor.
