You are doing very well preparing for winter. You continue to amaze with your tenacity to figure out how to accomplish each project with trial and error to completion.
Guys you might consider a wash line or 2 in your house for the winter. You have to be able to completely dry your out door gear, also the drying creates humidity and with the wood stove you will have a very dry home. You can't risk going out with damp clothes in the winter. Another thing maybe consider a tin can matches small candle granola bars and small kettle for emergency in truck Love your strength and courage. Stay strong you got this
Good to see you again, Lori and Cody! I loved to see Codi figuring out how and where to install a ceiling to redistribute some of the heat to help it being more comfortable and warm in you living space. That was an act of love for your wife who will be spending more time inside as the winter wears on. I pray that the Lord will care for you this season, and that you will have sufficient fuel to burn. Take care of each other faithfully, provide for the comfort which all three require! Hope to hear from you in the future again!
Looks great guys, I’m in Willow and got over 10 foot of snow last year. I think I would cover your mill up, depending on where your at you won’t see it till spring, I have mine on a trailer and keep it under a pole barn or in my shop, if you plan on cutting I’d definitely cover the whole thing, tracks and all or you’ll spend more time digging it out than using it, you Guys have come a long way, winter will be a challenge but you two will love it I’m sure, just gets long before spring, God Bless you Guys 🙏🏻❤️🇺🇸
Panels - you don't want even 1" of shade on the cells as any shade at all will cause the entire string (panels in series) will not produce if any panel in the string has any shade. The board at the bottom of the panel might cause a bit of shadow on the bottom cells (I can't tell for sure in the vid) and any shadow/shade will rendering the entire panel useless (maybe 10% of what it could do). Similarly, you don't want any snow build up. Try to mount the panels up off the bottom of the trailer and not cover the edge cells :)
It would be a good idea to get six sets of chains for the side by side. Any electrical connection especially outside benefits from vaseline (cheap and effective) or dialectic silicone. The green crud starts growing without it and eventually makes a high resistance connection or an open circuit.
I recently sent you an email from me and my wife (NC) but if I was near by I’m an high voltage electrician and as long as your mounting things to not fall even by adding a Saftey chain. Your doing a great job just make sure your connections are good and all wires are not free aired or have open joints you’ll be fine
I'm sure y'all know this but you should only burn dry wood if possible. Back in the day when wood stoves weren't air tight it was pretty standard practice to burn a lot of green wood just to keep the stove from getting too hot and especially at night but with these modern stoves it's much easier to regulate the burn rate. Every stove is different and there's a learning curve. Thank you for sharing your journey with us 👏
Thanks for the video. Don’t take this as criticism but if you burn wet/green wood you will have a creosote build up that will catch fire and burn your new house down. It’s no joke, especially as far from emergency services you are. Second those solar panels need to be facing south, at least 100 feet from the nearest trees in southern direction and I would highly suggest that mount them somehow. 1st gust of wind they’re gonna fly and smash. Good luck and stay safe
i burn wood all the time and if you keep burning the spruce keep a close eye on the creosilt build up in stove and the pipes....make sure you have a small brush that will fit inside the pipe and some fiber glass handles that screw together till you can go through the top of the pipe to keep it open....creosilt burns very hot...over 2000 degrees and don't need you guys getting a fire....take care and just do a lil more research about wood fires and safety....
I like watching your progress although the Granny in me will always worry for your safety out on the middle of nowhere with terrible cold and snow for the next few months to survive. You have worked so hard and made great progress. Be conservative in your planning- more wood than you think you will need, etc. And I recommend an emergency communication device in case you loose cell connection and need medical care. God bless. I am praying for you!
❤you guys are doing great!! Working hard and living the dream ❤ take good care and be aware of creosote fire. Wish I could come help build the kitchen ❤
Thanks for sharing with us! I live in Los Angeles so we get no snow here at all, it's too warm. I grew up in New England so I know snow. Stay warm!❄🏔🏂🌨⛄Like your show!
Hi Codie, Lori and Irie. It's so good to see a new video today! So glad to see the top floor insulated so the upper water pipes and water tank hopefully won't freeze. The snow is beautiful. I hope you stay safe and warm during the coming winter. See you next time. 😊❤
Love the videos! I seen on another video that they we’re having trouble with their side by side sliding they put bags of rocks to weigh it down (Home Depot) and said they didn’t have anymore problems. House is looked great!! Stay warm!
Your place looks tidy and set for winter. Lori, every time you step up and down that trailer to clear the snow off the solar panels, I’m worried you’ll slip and fall. You need to put a step there or something. Take care, avid Australian fan
Remember to move stuff out of the way.where you will be walking or driving.the snow will have stuff covered.so you can walk into stuff etc.lovely to see the house coming along so nicely.
I would be saving every little piece of insulation to use it in the outhouse. Even if you build a simple door you could stuff it in the gaps to keep wind out. With pregnancy come lots and lots of bathroom trips. A pool noodle on the end of a the metal rake forks help knock snow off the greenhouse
You have a lot of support here on RUclips. How about creating an Amazon wishlist so we can support you in your adventure if we choose. A baby registry would be great!!
Weak point in fan mount is the thread where the screws mount the fan base. Very weak using plastic. Don't want to read where Alaska couple injured from fan blades slicing into them. BE Careful.
looking good i wouldent thought you get much solar but they say even on cloudy days it still charges is what you said to cold for me there hope all goes well did he put the dish up for the internet i dident see it he was making it at the start ?
It’s a Midnight Solar DIY series MN5048DIY It’s a charge controller and inverter combination. If remembering correctly I think it supports 8 of these 400w panels. We show more of it in our utilities video.
I am really concerned that you are not ready for the winter that is coming. Hopefully you have weighed your options for how and where to spend your time during the pregnancy. I really want you to succeed and be safe….
You two are very hard workers and should give yourselves pats on the back. I do find d your videos informative but very dry. You could use more comentary and show some emotion or enthusiasm. Best of luck.
Wet wood creates creosote faster then anything, don't do it.The more you damper down your stove, the faster your going to need to clean your pipe. I doubt your greenhouse shed will make it through the season, they always ca lapse
Don't know why you aren't using a fan bar box of you do a google search they come right up who told you that a t11 box was rated for a fan the box crumbles if under pressure if nothing else it should be a steel fan round box to take the weight not an exterior box the box you used is not safe
Yeah seen a few Alaska channels loose theirs pretty quickly the first winter. A small amount of snow will collapse it, I would remove the plastic and lay it directly on the stuff under it.

Isn't it wonderful how quickly a wood stove dries you and your wet gear out? Can't beat it for that.
Your making progress. Your doing a great job. One day a time👍. I look forward to your videos. Stay safe and be careful. Take care✌️🇺🇸❤️

Great video Cody and Lori
Lori, please take care of yourself during all the snowy weather. I think you two are winterized for the rough winter ahead of you. Stay warm.
I liked the new insulated overalls she wore! ❤
I think you’re learning a lot, just take your time!! It’s a very hard life!! Listen to people who have been through it- love watching!!!
You kids are amazing. What you've accomplished is awesome. Keep up the great content
Look at all the progress you are making!!
Yayyy I really love your videos ❤❤ and can’t wait to see the gender of your baby ❤
Enjoyed the video ❤

Nice progress.....beware of wind on your solar panels, hate to see you loose them to a wind event!!!

Good luck and stay warm! The cameo by Lori was nice 😊
Keep up the hard work! Looking good. We need updates on the pregnancy. Apparently Lori is feeling better. Thanks
The snow is so beautiful! Good on your projects. I hope Lori is feeling well. Thanks for sharing!
Hope you guys did all right with all the snow this week!
I can't wait for you to post another video. Hope Lori is feeling better now.

Setting solar up on the trailer gives you the option to move it around for best solar gain. Before permanent set up. Good move!
Looks like you are ready for winter. I hope you both stay healthy and are able to get the little projects done inside. Good job on the fan box.
Way to go , looking great , adventurous.
Hi from puerto rico your solar panels must face south use the compass in your cell phone 180 degrees
I’m really enjoying your videos. Ya’ll are doing amazing. 🎉🎉🎉

Creosote is the word to google
Wish you'd take us into town with you. maybe a shopping trip. What are you fixing for meals, etc.

Or bags of sand they don't damage the frame as salt can

Great job . Excellent video a lot of hard work 👏👏
Hahaha I just used the plus/minus explanation to have my daughter find my bits in the shop.
I would to see you guys show what you are eating.. how you are cooking and stuff 😊 big fan of this channel!!

I fear for you guys, despite your best efforts.
Great job❤❤❤
Looks good guys!
I’m cold watching
Looks like you guys are all set for winter
use a leaf blower to remove snow, great job on house
I think we need some weekly updates on your snow totals up there...
Wont be long you will have interior done and plumbing
Chains might help you move around with the side by side.
Weak point in fan mount is the thread where the screws mount the fan base. Very weak using plastic. Don't want to read where Alaska couple injured from fan blades slicing into them. BE Careful.
❤🎉 Hello good
Maybe invest in some chains for your side-by-side.
definitely!
You need a headlamp its dark up there
🥰🤗
👍
I'm impatient and don't want to wait until the next video. How did everything hold up after the foot or more of snow a few days ago?
looking good i wouldent thought you get much solar but they say even on cloudy days it still charges is what you said to cold for me there hope all goes well did he put the dish up for the internet i dident see it he was making it at the start ?
Nice work on the cabin does the stove pipe have a pipe draft on it
What kind of charge controller do you have that you can run 4 of those huge pannels in series?
It’s a Midnight Solar DIY series MN5048DIY
It’s a charge controller and inverter combination. If remembering correctly I think it supports 8 of these 400w panels.

any plans to mount solar on the roof?
👍👍👌✌️

They’re from a place where it snows and is cold. They know what they’re doing
@@goodandgreen Alaska is very different & challenging!

Could you tell us the status of your backhoe please??
They talk about it in previous episodes, it’s a project they can work on
lol, those panels blowing over the 1st storm hits them, you can do better than that.

Let's take bets on when the greenhouse collapses. I got December 2nd
Yeah seen a few Alaska channels loose theirs pretty quickly the first winter. A small amount of snow will collapse it, I would remove the plastic and lay it directly on the stuff under it.
I say, it's already happened. A foot or more of snow a couple days ago.
Find a better hobby. They don't need your criticism

plastic is going to get brittle and rip/shred
Who cares about the door to outhouse nobody can see you
