Richie Hawtin is a genius. S1 a timeless masterpiece. A work of art, an entire genre in our own. Sometimes spooky, complex listening, the most disturbing fact is how clean the sound play even today, it was entirely made with hardware and written on 1993, maybe earlier. Sounds like an album made by future machines for humans, which was probably the author intention. It's a seductive trip with a bad closure due to distressing Smak, something terrible awaiting us at the finish line. F brilliant.
Is this missing a final track? I'm sure I have a tape of this which has the Vokx sci-fi film sample extended into a full length tune, a mindbending banger in fact...
Thank you, thank you. I remember one rave when the DJ didn't show up so they put this on. We were dancing in a weird boxing ring. Then things got really strange...
Thank you. My wife and I were talking about Gak and Im glad we could find it. Plastikman and Juice Records Aust bring back memories. www.discogs.com/HMC--Thee-Southern-Hemisphere-EP/release/8175

I recall when this album Plastikman "Sheet One" came out, I read a review discussing the "skull-crunching synth music of Plastikman". I thought, "Then maybe this is like Messiah (early rave artist)." It turned out to be less exciting, but still very interesting. A great example of gradualism and minimalism. As simple and slow as it seemed, it still had an alluring "something" to it that pleased me. I find it cerebral, contemplative, near-ambient music.
This was made in times before Ableton, Reason and the likes. All we had back then was hardware synths & modules and the way to 'record' was using sequencers or an Atari ST. Neither of the latter allowed audio recording.
wow, this album is quite something. Plastikman is truly amongst the innovators who pushed the boundaries of this beautiful electronic music, making you dive in it like a blue ocean of layers, sounds and powerful and impacting beats.. perfect album !

This album has such character because there were no glowing screen distracting computers involved to fuck it all up.
Back when Richie Hawtin was good and innovative

That was the point of the album, to move the electronic music scene forward. I presume you have listened to his 'FUSE' album as well?
Why can't I write a review. Shitty you tube or software. A Fabulous Album. That's as much as I can write.
Computer Programs to make Muzak... Lulzzzz .. This is all Sikilzzz my friends .. oh yea we used Wax back then as well..

The release of Reason revealed early on how talentless this "music" is.
