    I have had this printer for two weeks and I don't have the extrusion problems you mentioned. The three prints I made were good out of the box. I'm confident I can get a better quality by tweaking the slicer settings. I just installed TL smoothers and a left over Capricorn tube I had lying around. Next will be stepper silencers, external MOSFET power relays and better printed extruder and print cooling solutions. I personally barely looked at the assembly manual, because I watched a few review videos of beforehand and I followed along the official Alfawise youtube chanel assembly video that was really clear to me. Conclusion for me is this printer was worth the price I payed and it will get better as I use and improve it. Thanks for your honest review, but I think you were unlucky and got a lemon.

    Thanks for the honest review. It's nice to see a reviewer give a fair review of 3d printers that are sent to them for free, and really see it's unbiased. I hope you review the Tevo Nereus when/if you get access to one.

    Theres a reason you got that one free pal.. it was destined for the bin. I was immediatley struck by how well the device had been packed and things such as the Z axis end stop had already been fitted to mine and If you are going to build a 3d printer, I think its fair to say that youd have to be something on the slow side to not understand the absolute quality 3d drawings on glossy catalogue type paper supplied. I put mine together in 30 mins as an absolute novice having never seen a 3d printer other than in pictures. I, was blown away at how well the device parts where machined with absolutely no swarf after machining the aluminium parts, and whilst I had already downloaded Beta Cura slicer software, it was already set up for Alfawise U30.
    Im sure that theyve given you a factory dropped model. The Very first thing I printed was a fox and my only bad thing was that there wasnt enough fillament to finish the print and so i continue the print with abs instead of pla... i now know the difference.
    The second thing i printed was a 2 day print of a strandbeest and learned the value of not putting supports every where.
    Since then having owne it for just 2 weeks I have had no problems whatsoever and since I wasnt keen to build one from scratch, this semi built printer was from my point of view as a newbie, the best money I have spent on gearbest in a flash sale for 125 GB pounds. I would highly reccommend this to other newbies looking for a starting point and have only one tip.. Read other peoples tips, such as using a layer of hairspray for a flawless 1st layer print when printing the likes of kit cards. Im sure they have put the scraps in a box simply because its a freebie for your channel. If you have any advice on metal printing id be happy to hear em.

    I actually own 2 variants of this EXACT printer, the Longer LK4, and 1 variant of the Alfawise U20 (copy of CR-10), which is the Longer LK2. I purchased the first one in December of '19 and since then bought the other 2. I've watched ALOT of your vids on the Ender 3, CR-10, mainboards etc.
    I will admit that only 1 is still "stock", apart from a dual geared extruder. That one has been printing non-stop for 2 weeks now making Face shields for the CoronaVirus Pandemic. The other 2 I have been upgrading piece by piece including; Mainboard, Screen, Extruder, Direct-Drive, and E3D V6 upgrades.
    I've had approximatley 70%-90% success rates out of each one. I have just now seen THIS video about your review on the printer though, over a year later so I'm assuming that the company had some improvements or I've just been "lucky".
    The reason for the upgrades are simply because I have a BAD tendency to tinker and try new things. I'm not knocking your video or review, I'm simply giving you MY personal experience with this product.
    Thank you for the videos and guidance on "All Things" printing.

    I did also a review of the printer and I don't have the same conclusion as you. I'm still printing quite a lot with mine which I didn't modify except installing TL Smoothers and obviously, printing basic modifications like larger wheels for bed leveling, clips for the cables and adding an extension for the Micro SD card (I mention all of that in my review). But the most important is mine is printing perfectly fine with the default slicer settings (I'm using as well Simplify).
    While I understand you may had a bad machine like I probably had for the Tevo Tornado, probably not all the U30 are like yours and it's great that you mention that as well in your video. It's great to show also when things go wrong and your problems have been quite serious.
    Keep the good work! :)

    I have an Alphawise U30 with Smoother board which has been working great for me so far. I would agree that TPU is not perfect but all the other PLA have been excellent. I look forward to the improvement you are planning for do to this printer. Good honest review and I am also glad that Gearbest customer service help you out.

    You did a good job of reviewing the product, and because of the price this is a very attractive machine for the beginner hobbyist. I would like to have seen the refinements that you would do to make it a better printer, do those and see the results. This would not only help those that have them and those that are looking to buy one. It would also be good for the manufacturer to see modifications that they could do to make a better out of the box product.
    At the least it needs a forum for users to share ideas and fixes.
    Thanks for the post.

    great review, im glad that my first printer was an ender 3, and i managed to pick up a second one with 7 rolls of filament for less than the filament costs. i think if i was to move to a larger printer i would probably stick with a creality one, because i know what im getting.
    your reviews certainly let me see what else is out there.

Any normal company would make damn sure you got the one with the best turnout. I wonder what they were thinking. I thought you were very fair in your review, you qualified with examples. ;)

    Im told that my Longer LK2 is this exact printer. i have not had any issues with it as of yet and works great using my ender 3 profile. Im glad to see this prospective of this machine so thank you for your honest review. I will keep an eye out for these issues though i havent had much in the way of problems with it/them (i have two). i did find the test prints to be spotty. The little bird (owls) turned out great but the Benchy and bullet i found to be poor. There is also some model on there that i think is a budda but looks more like a dead baby (yikes) but also turned out great. i havent tried the fox yet but i did save it on the SD card to check its quality. Again thank you for sharing your experience and keep up the great work.

    Superb review Michael. So it seems that the "race to the bottom" is still on going, cheap is not the be all and end all. Just cos it's cheap, is not excuse for dangerous, especially when they are aiming toward beginners.

  • @nerys71
    @nerys71 5 лет назад +3

    the machine is not too bad. the issue is typically one of quality control. check mechanical alignment for the banding check the feeder for the extrusion. watch out for stripping bolts. also the hot end is suspect. take it apart and reassemble making sure the PTFE properly mates to the nozzle interface (no you should not have to do that but hey its chinese printers FTW ! :-) hehe
    the machine is made by Longer 3D as the LK2 and they DO appear to be pretty responsive to feedback (we shall see) so hopefully they will correct the quality control issues and make it better. I send them a pretty decent laundry list of things to correct and update.
    otherwise agreed 100% machine needs improvements. good try poorly executed.

    I just bought a Longer LK4 which is basically the same printer with a different name. When this video was posted it was probably when it was the LK2. So mine is the next generation of what was reviewed. It took me a while to figure out the settings of the slicing software but after I did I have had no problems. The only thing I don't like is getting the part off the print board. This is my first 3D printer so I have nothing to compare it with. It prints seem to be even and haven't had the stringing problem I have seen with some modeling some reviews on RUclips.

    Great review. I purchased this printer myself and do agree that the instructions are really bad. But in my experiences this has been a very good printer and since its very similar to the ender 3 there are tons of mods that can be done. Since purchasing it I have added a cable chain and changed the hot end assembly. I can say that it can produce Prusa mk3 level of prints.

    Nice honest advice, versus Angus' review of the sad Xvico.
    This really bugs me: these printer manuals suggest tramming the bed with a 0.2mm feeler gauge or paper. Creality even provides a 0.2mm feeler.
    Paper is 0.10 mm. Huge difference in adhesion. I'm tramming at 0.08.

    I love that these 3D printer companies are trying new things, But am i the only one who doesn't want to pay more for a touch screen? Seriously. everone i know uses octoprint and never uses an SD card or even the interface. I think the only time i actually use the printer's own interface is when i want to quickly disable stepper motors or hit preheat PLA to swap my filament over.
    Would much rather they save the money they spend on a touchscreen and add auto bed levelling or run out sensors, better firmware and better Q & A.
    Otherwise nice review mate, I have my Ender 3 now and am over the moon at how well it is printing and everything it came with So no more cheap printers for me until I save up for a prusa.
    Keep it up.

    • @violentcrumble6720
      @violentcrumble6720 5 лет назад

      @Don Gray I don't think they are all terrible. I have been getting amazing prints from my ender 3, so i am not sure why you have had no luck. It worked great out of the box with no upgrades and just bed leveling. Considering the ender 3 cost me $280 delivered with free postage from an Australian supplier i am over the moon with the quality of the prints.
      bomb boo - i.imgur.com/AuPDIGu.jpg
      ender 3 dog - (first print before retraction settings) i.imgur.com/q07jert.jpg
      if you are expecting better prints than these from spending just a few hundred, I would be amazed.
      Octoprint is very easy to setup, It comes ready to go with an image you can flash straight onto an sd card, All you do is plug in a webcam, and plug in your printer and boom away you go. Not sure what you mean by "most people are not tinkerers" I would argue that most people who buy 3d printers are the type to be tinkerers but i have nothing to back that up. All i can do is use the information i have which is nearly all my friends who have 3d printers all use octoprint and are "tinkerers". Expecting to spend very little and get amazing results is just not where 3d printing is right now, But considering the prints i am getting from my Ender 3 i am definitely happy until i can justify the upgrade to a prusa mk 3.
      Considering i can design something at a certain size and it prints and fits together, What more can i ask for?
      but hey each to their own. Hope you find a printer that works for you.

      Sounds like there might be separation between the hot end heater and thermistor. The nozzle is probably way hotter than 150 but it isn't measuring it as high as it expects and therefore pops the error.

They are sending a new plate but the print quality is bad due to extrusion like yours. Stepper dampeners have been recommended by others but in looking back i should have just a ender 3. My problem is finding the bushes/spaces that Creality uses. Do you know anywhere where I could purchase a set. I have found the rollers, but not the bushes/spacers.
    Any help would be really appreciated. After replacement mboard, hotend, part cooling fan, I still have little way to go but it is slowly improving. I have stepper drivers on the way as I am suspicious on them too. I had to add a stepper dampener to the bed stepper as its extrusion is mounted onto sheet metal, which flexes. Not happy with Geeetech releasing this unit without proper QC.

That is one reason why people who dabble with CNC mills etc go for ground ball screws instead of the cheaper rolled ones. We don't have that option, but it's something to know when you are working with twin leadscrews for the Z axis. @@dbantner Sadly. I managed to improve a bit by setting the flow to 109% which is what I calculated but now I occasionally get the entire Z axis to hop over parts that have just blobs of non adhered plastic on and the extruder constantly skips due to the curved bed on the printer. And mind you this is my 3rd original Creality glass that is bent. Fucking garbage. People had better luch with an Ender that is 50% of the price. My next printer is a Prusa.

    You might try changing the cable wire going to the extruder stepper. I've had poorly crimped wire connections cause that same issue.

    A lot of your comparisons are showing the U30 prints against an Ender 5 print. But your video is telling me that this is an Ender 3 clone done wrong. Why not show the print qualities between the Ender 3 and the U30?

    • @deceitive3338
      @deceitive3338 5 лет назад

      His review of the Ender 3 was from 6 months ago while the Ender 5 review was just last month. He probably doesn't have comparable prints (different filament, or just different 3d models), and doing a print now would be unfair after all of the upgrades he's added to the Ender 3. Ender 5 uses the same mainboard, extruder, hotend, and build surface as the 3. Only real differences are the frame, z-axis, and the lcd screen, but prints should be nearly identical.

    I really wish you could get your hands on the Geeetech A10. It is also a Ender 3 colon. But with better improvements, (in writing that is)? It has the OPEN SOURCE GT2560 control board, runs on 24 volt/360W PS and has a boot loader for updates built in. Plus it's $185.99 plus 5.99 shipping USD. Very affordable! All the stuff people have to pay extra for to upgrade the Ender 3. Thanks for the video, very informative. Your thoughts on this?

    • @billsolomon1
      @billsolomon1 5 лет назад

      I saw that video. You concentrated on the dual filament extruder and how it printed. Good video! But the A10 is true a better version of the Ender 3, to me! . I wish someone would (you) compare this one? I believe this printer is an underdog that is getting over looked and soon will be gone?

    • @billsolomon1
      @billsolomon1 5 лет назад

      As I said, Teachingtech makes great videos that are very helpful! But in the case of the Geeetech A10M video, he concentrated on the dual filament printing, not in depth of the A10 part of the printer! I wish he could get his hands on the A10 to compare to the Ender. Other video makers have raved about the A10 kicking Ender 3's ass! I respect Teachingtechs opinion and would like to see this review?

    Yikes, what a piece of crap...it's sad to watch these Chinese companies race to see who can make the cheapest printer (with the greatest profit) using the cheapest components available. I've had a similar disaster with a GeeeTech A10, which they claim is "beginner friendly" as well. I really wish 3D printing enthusiasts would make a clear choice between quality versus absolute cheapest. People see the low low price and throw their dollars at junk like this

    Hi,
    I’m from Italy, so forgive me if my english it’s not that good. I’m an absolute beginner in the 3d printers world, but after watching several review of this printer I dcided to pull the trigger and buy it. I’m really surprise of your very bad review, because for me for that pricethis printer is great, very similar to the ender 3, wich a friend of mine Owens, in terms of quality. The only 3 scenario that I can see for this bad review are:
    1) You are Paid by somebody close to Creality to make bad review of the competitor
    2) Your printer was faulty
    3) You are not that good in 3d Print, because if an assolute beginner like me was able to achieve very good result with just few adjustment that every printer require, I can’t understand how an esperti in 3d printer like you got such a bad result, especially that horrible 3d benchy.
    Have a nice day
    Bye
