When I saw that DiscordxCelestia scene, the first thing I though of was "I wonder how loud ILoveKimPossible (because I don't know real name) just squealed in joy right now".

I personally think he was just giving those flowers to Celestia as a sign of apology. He apologized to Flutters and the gang, but not the princesses. Plus, it was just a quick little thing, and he was much more sincere when apologizing to Fluttershy. I mean, he said she was worth all the alicorn magic in Equestria. Can you say 'hnnng'?

I was hoping for Discords Chaos-magic to corrupt Tirek from the inside. Would have been sweet.
YES! It was so freaken great! Discord had one of the best character developments in the show all thanks to this episode. The episode's animation was fluent and colorful and it looked pretty. Tirek was a great villian. Also, William Anderson & Daniel Ingram did a kick-ass job with the music. Best finale ever!

This episode confirms that Generation 1 of My Little Pony is canon.
Well... I could be wrong, but I don't think Scorpan was ever Tirek's brother in G1. As far as I know the lore behind their relationship back then was that Tirek took over Scorpan's kingdom and turned him into the... rat... bat... creature... thing... that we normally think of him as (he was originally a human prince, as revealed at the end of 'Rescue At Midnight Castle') and made him his servant. So sadly I don't think it really confirms that G1 is exactly canon.
G1 Skorpan had no relations to Tirek, he was just some prince/king who got turned into a mutated general for Tirek's army.

But Skorpan conclusively breaks that link, at least insofar as claiming that the exact events as seen in G1 are history for G4. Perhaps similar events occurred in some cases, but it's certainly not all a direct 1:1 ratio.
These are different versions than the ones of G1, also, I think they would have mentioned that "turn into a prince" and "help from this strange creatures that look like the thing that Twilight once was" thing

celestia woke up from a nap she had been tired lately with her duties luna walked in with some tea "sister, your awake, got you some tea" luna smiled. celestia levitated the tea cup and had a sip "thank you, luna" celestia said warmly. luna left the room in a matter of seconds to let celestia finish her tea. after celestia had finished her tea she walked out into the garden enjoying the smells of spring making sure every sent was smelt then she heard a familier voice. "hello princess" said discord. celestia jumped in surprize. "im sorry to scare you" discords voice came again. celestia turned to face him a playful smile on her face "its fine discord im fine" she said softly. discord shifted his body left noticing her grin. "you feeling playful celestia?" an evil grin on his face. celestia tried to keep a straight face "maaaybe?" she said uncertainly. suddenly discord pounced onto celestia and started to tickle her "TICKLE TICKLE TICKLE!" he chanted. celestia struggled laughing hard "HHEHEHE!! DISCORD STOP!! HHAHAHAHH!! GET OFF! HHEHEHEHEHEH!!" she yelled. discord got off her and helped her up "celestia...meet me at my cave in an hour" "ok" they agreed. at the cave discord waited In a leather jacket and shades while celestia a pink dress with a hot pink bow in her hair they were ready :D "...wow" was all discord could blurt out and celestia blushed tomato red and walked over to discord as he sat the gaping she closed his mouth and kissed him on the cheek "cmon discord get up" she said. discord got up and kissed celestia on the lips passionettly they sat there for 5 minutes kissing but celestia had to go "bai discord" she said. "bye tia ;)" they oth went home that night dreaming about eachother...

I like celestiacord, but I love fluttercord, I just want to say that the ending with Discord and celestia could also be meant as an apologetic peace offering rather than romance. But I've been wrong before....still love you vids, see you during season 5

I must say the only really bad part of this episode is the designs of the ponies after they open the box that is just ugly.

I agree - this was a fantastic two-parter. Digibro can and the others can nitpick all they want; I think this was a well-paced, really enjoyable episode that nicely balanced character development, world-building, conflict and action in a story that wraps up the rainbow box arc. Yay for super-sayan-rainbow-power!

The characters of Terix and Scorpan were also a toss back to the original 80's movie My Little Pony. So they were in effect their own Easter Egg.
With the whole 'box knows all' thing, the way I see it is the whole Tree of Harmony thing, the fact that Luna's and Celestia's cutie marks were on it and were activated when Twilight saved them, that made me realize the whole events of that episode was forseen by someone or something, perhaps the Tree of Harmony is a sentient being or even the material form of a Spirit of Harmony that could be an all-knowing being. I figure it had forseen all of these events because of the box reveal, so it would have seen Tirek and twilight's home being blown up etc. I think I might make a fanfic of this eventually :3

6:35 Don't worry. I know exactly what's happening. It's a little complicated, but it all boils down to the fact that there is a fifth alicorn in Equestria, trapped within the Tree of Harmony. That fifth alicorn has been giving Celestia her visions, meeting with Luna through dreams (hence why she knew about the Tree of Harmony before-hand and why she looked so concerned when taking the Elements {also the way she looked at the chest} in the season 4 premier), and she gave Twilight the chest, the rainbow power and her new castle.

tbh applejack being a mom friend (specifically to flutters) is something that im absolutely fine with.
Noone seems to have mentioned the plot hole this episode opened up:
1) Starswirl the Bearded was "a young mage" during the first appearance of Tirek
2) Starswirl was the Mentor for Clover the Clever, in the Hearthswarming Eve pageant
3) The events depicted in the pageant take place before the sisters rose to rule Equestria
4) The sisters defeated Tirek the first time.
Unless Starswirl developed time travel, something doesn't add up.
I think the reason Discord gave into Tirek's temptation is that Fluttershy is the only one who has made an effort to befriend him. They write letters, he's in her cottage to visit in the open credits now. The others don't even think about him when he's not actively in Ponyville. I think Three's a Crowd was a genuine attempt to try to be friends with Twilight, even if it being Discord he went about it in the most trollish manner possible. So when Tirek made his offer, to Discord, he was trading servitude and one friend for freedom to do as he likes and one friend. Net gain. Had Twilight and the others made more of an effort to befriend Discord over the past year, rather than just being annoyed any time he shows up, I think Discord would not have been so easily tempted.

There was *two* bouquets, one for Celestia, and one for Luna.
I think the scene with Discord dressed as a general was actually a reference to the famous opening of Patton. Which is actually completely different from how the actual Patton behaved, but it's still entertaining.

An excellent review! Bravo! By the way, did it ever occur to you that Discord may never have been evil to begin with, and that all of this may actually be part of some elaborate plan to push Twilight and the others towards some sort of prophesied destiny? Think about it. (1) Discord knew about the Tree of Harmony, the elements, and their connection to the Ever-free Forest before he was turned to stone the 1st time by Luna and Celestia. (2) He never tried to dodge the 2 rainbow blasts that turned him to stone. He allowed it to happen! He even allowed Twilight a 2nd chance to turn him to stone when her 1st attempt failed. (3) His "reformation episode" in Season 3 was more about teaching Twilight and the others to refrain from using the Elements of Harmony against him rather than his actual "reformation". (4) The black vines in Season 4, Episodes 1 & 2 (originally planted by Discord, as shown in Twilight's 2nd potion-induced "flashback") where basically the only reason Twilight and her friends had to venture into the forest, find the Tree of Harmony, and relinquish their respective elements in order to free Luna and Celestia, and make the "Rainbow Connection" box appear. (5) He knew about the "Rainbow Connection" box and the keys required to open it. (6) He knew that Tirek's pendent was most likely the last key required to open the "Rainbow Connection" box. His "regression back to evil" could have merely been a ploy to obtain Tirek's pendent, and then literally hand it over to Twilight! Also, considering everything Discord knows about the Tree of Harmony, the elements, etc., it seems to me that Discord may have some secret connection to a certain "some-pony" whom fans have only heard about through legends. The creator/co-creator of the Elements of Harmony, perhaps? Food for thought!
