Ugh.. mark that was amazing!! I just had to take my 935 to jd to have the pto clamp repaired.. I took them the deck to check any damage that might have happened when it broke. I got a call as they were buttoning it back up; that I had a lot of vibration in my driveshaft, and for 1300 plus labor at $135 hour they'd put it on straight for me.. I laughed and told them that was crazy, and id look for a used one. Took it to a guy down the street, and he backed the pin out, and put it back in tight. Works perfectly fine!! No more vibration. Got the machine home, started mowing, and the belt jumped off the deck.. two bolts loose, one on the guide pulley as you had; and one on the tensioner bar.. both loose. Tightened back down all good. Couple more minutes into the mow, the weight bar on the back of the machine fell off.. they had forgotten to put the spacers and nuts back on.. Now.. for $135 an hour, I'd rather have paid you!!
Picked up an older Toro 330 zero turn this summer for $250.00 Found two broken contenting rods. Yes, they require oil! The rods fused to the crankshaft and snapped! $30 later and meritic acid cleaning the crank I have a running 20HP Kohler Command. The 90° PTO box had an input bearing out! The rollers were actually fused to the cone! New bearing and it's back together. Nothing else was damaged surprisingly!
My gear box pulley side, shaft had a woodruff key cut in the shaft and the pulley had a tapered split hub to remove play. Surplus center has variety of pulley dia and hub bores.
@@tcmits3699 do you know if it was a factory john deere unit? It looked like the newer models had a tapered shaft, so that must make mine one of the older ones...
@@marktolman6037 Yes it was factory. They make a 2 piece pulley set consisting of a split hub with a straight keyed bore and a large outer taper that gets drawn in a corresponding tapered bore of the pulley with two bolts. It locks the two on the shaft removing all play, like a collet. Go to surplus center, they have a variety of hub and pulley sizes. Good luck 🤞
@@marktolman6037 They are a little more expensive, but worth it. PS. My F935 had a differential lock lever on front of the transaxle, and a simple linkage was made, can't hurt to see if your machine is so equipped. Also mine had a second hydraulic spool under the right fender next to the lift lever spool. Really nice machine when you work out the bugs👍

Thanks! Sounds like you've been through similar troubles as I. Hope you can be trouble-free mowing all summer!
Just because you pay for something doesn't mean it's done correctly!
@@dans_Learning_Curve agreed.. but still best to know the differences; for youself; so you can spot the crooks that con ya, for repeat business.

I believe that's called a taper lock.
